Kagu-Tsuchi is the kami of fire in Japanese mythology.

Punishing Fires (Jund) centered version of NicFit. This is the one NicFit version to fully incorporate Liliana of the Veil.

UPDATE: Testing a list without Punishing Fire and brought the list back to a mild splash. The list innitially was based on 4 Night's Whisper, but i wanted some design space and replaced the Whispers with 2 Painful Truths. New is Journey to Eternity. The idea behind this card (vs Recurring Nightmare and Volrath's Stronghold) that, if played right this card provides straightup card advantage. Recurring nightmare needs at least 2 creatures and volrath's stronghold usually slows us down a bit.

OLD: Assassin's Trophy, Angrath, the Flame-Chained, Gruul Spellbreaker and Biogenic Ooze are all new to relatively new. At least, since my previous update. Trophy, while a one for one (with the hope of having drawn out all basics with Explorer) is a catch all that this deck needed. Angrath is basically a boosted Liliana of the Veil. Gruul Spelbreaker is a planeswalker killer. And Biogenic Ooze is a new toy to use as an endgame bomb. It doubles up as a manasink. To compliment Ooze i included Primeval Titan to go nuts on mana. As a bonus, PrimeTime can dig up the Two Towers, or create a stable PFire base, or dig up fetches to filter the deck in topdeck modus. Hymn to Tourach is introduced to fight combo, while not be bad against fair decks. Combined with LotV, Angrath, KCommand and Therapy, the amount of discard should enable some serious attrition game. So far the board remains unchanged, BUT Leyline of the Void might be preferred to combat Reanimator or other fast combo.

OLD: now another ban that hits NicFIt in general: Deathrite Shaman (DRS), DRS has acted as a mana-fixer, grave-hater, life-gainer (must useful against Burn and sometimes Storm), and an alternative win-con (non-combat). So four functions lost in one card. Luckily, we didn't really as heavily on this card other then it being a manadork #5 next to our four Veteran Explorers. Altough some versions i have run 4 DRS main, along with 3 Veteran Explorers. But anyhow, the first card to replace this with is Sakura-Tribe Elder (STE). With STE we have an alternative option to fetch our basic, and because of the in-built sacrifice effect, we are almost guaranteed the have it trigger along with some random block scenario's.

Another change is the removal of the 2 Dinosaur's. While Regisaur Alpha (Reggy) has seen most play and haste is a useful treat i do not see it helping me out more then other cards. Also, i found that i almost never got Carnage Tyrant (no clever nickname) on the battlefield. Ishkanah, Grafwidow is now making the cut. Over at other boards i have seen this card pop-up more often and people seem to enjoy it. Because DRS is out, we probably reach Delirium more often and more reliable. And the reach spider tokens can act on defense, while the ability of Grafwidow is an akternative wincon. So we can in defensive mode, while still grind out the game.

OLD: All the cards currently in the deck generate some form of card advantage. This is also the reason for the absence of Abrupt Decay. Because NicFit always relied on Sensei's Divining Top, we could get away with spot removal. Now, i had to reconsider the build and figured that the deck has to perform better in topdeck modes. 2 versions that are pretty good at that are the new Scapewish and the very focused Academy Rector version. But i really want to make the Jund version work, so after some reworking the new version is here. Currently, the list has removed SBD to make place for newcomers Regisaur Alpha and Carnage Tyrant. Alpha brings an additional 3/3 trample token and gives it haste. It can also give Tyrant haste. Tyrant on his hand has Trample, Hexproof and cannot be countered. This provides some form of inevitability this deck was lacking. Also i found that Thrun, the Last Troll has been performing very well. A lot of decks cannot handle the card and it is also some form of inevitability. Volrath's Stronghold is absent for the first time in my list and made place for Kessig Wolf Run to complement Thrun. Also i found Stronghold to be "dead" in a lot of scenario's AND since SDT doesn't exist anymore all abundant mana can be sinked into pumping creatures. Lategame this also makes Veteran Explorer more dangerous, plus trample means we can attack thru True-Name Nemesis or trample the protecting creatures for opposing Walkers. Speaking of Walkers, i have just added a second copy of Chandra, the Mind Sculptor. This card is a house, in combination with PFire things go out of hand quickly. This multi purpose planeswalker also provides an alternative angle to win games (meaning outside of combat).

OLD: Also consider that this version can runs Slaughter Games, Kologhan's Command, Huntmaster of the Fells and even Stormbreath Dragon (SBD). SBD, while not being green, has a strong advantage as it has Protection from White. Next to its CMC and toughness it dodges legacy's most popular removal. Granted it has Haste AND it is really easy to get it Monstrous, this card seriously takes over games. Adviced to run 2 copies to counteract the fact it isn't tutorable with Zenith.

Why 7 basics, where 2 are Mountains? UPDATE: this version runs maindeck Chandra, Torch of Defiance. To land it out of an Veteran Explorer trigger, you need 2 Mountains. This aside of Nissa, Vital Force that requires a basic Forest to remain in the deck. To succesfully ensure flipping Nissa when she is played, always try to keep the third basic Forest in the deck. The 7 basics also ensures that every creature in the deck can be fetched using Green Sun's Zenith of basics alone making this deck Wasteland proof. OLD: To fully support SBD you want to be able to run the deck fully on basics alone. Being able to land a SBD out of a Veteran trigger is vital. Before i switched to 7 basics (2 mountain) configuration i had lost several games simply because, i wasn't able to turn a Zenith or Veteran Explorer into 5 mana to drop the much needed SBD. Also having 7 basics ensures you can go coconuts on Veteran Explorer and rampage the dragon into its Monstrous state.

Be advised, PFire NicFit is super fun and MEGA GRINDY!
