Maybeboard

Meren of Clan Nel Toth my favorite commander. There is tons of value to be had here in a deck that is just a blast to pilot. I am constantly working to upgrade and tune this deck.

The primary goal of the deck is to find Buried Alive, pitching Mikaeus, the Unhallowed and Triskelion and then whatever utility creature you need at the time. Get Meren out asap, then just your stereotypical sac for value strategy until you can get 6 counters on her. Target Mikaeus first as that will net you more value for the turn before you go infinite. The next turn target Triskelion with her ability, maintain priority, and start pinging people for one by removing the counters from Triskelion. If you're unfamiliar with the combo, the best synopsis I have seen was posted in my comments by Gidgetimer and is as follows:

"When there are three counters (initially) you have to use 1 to do damage, and 2 to hit Triskelion. Each time after that you use 2 of the four to do damage and 2 on Triskelion. Native 1/1 plus Mikey buff means that he will be a 2/2 unless there are other things modifying the P/T. This is the same reason that the Mikaeus, the Unhallowed + Walking Ballista combo needs a sacrifice outlet that many people don't mention. As a tip, you also want to do the damage one point at a time and make the first two damage go to Triskelion. Then use the ones after that to kill opponents/opponents' creatures. This will negate instant speed exile unless your opponents have two sources initially or three sources after Triskelion has 4 counters. Once you have the two damage marked you can kill it in response to a Path to Exile by removing counters. If they try to Path in response to the first or second (after the first resolves) one targeting Trike, you can remove more counters to ping it down in response. If you do your damage to opponents first a Path can successfully exile Triskelion ending the combo."

Thank you very much to them for both this advice and excellent explanation of the effects.

I can also mill my opponents out moderately quickly by utilizing Altar of Dementia and either Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord or Nighthowler.

The deck is broken down based on cards primary functions in my particular build. It is important to note that many of these cards serve additional purposes as well. Vraska, Golgari Queen has an alternative win conditions in the form of her ultimate. Altar of Dementia serves perfectly as both a mill and sacrifice outlet. Many of my utility spells like tutors, answers, and even ramp function as self-sacrifice or a single use sacrifice outlet.

Please feel free to comment any questions or concerns with the deck. My goal is to maintain approximately a 7 in power on a scale of 1-10. 1 being Jank and 10 being highly tuned cEDH decks. I am very happy to say I think i have accomplished that here.

This deck is probably my favorite one i own out of 11. I just make a pretty big change to the mana curve, and dropped a win-condition in favor of additional value in ramp and additional sac outlets. Hopefully my changes will make the deck more fun to pilot, and a little faster. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.

Drop a +1 on your way out if you like the deck please. Thanks!

So I have spent a good deal of time away from MtG due to the loss of my playgroup. Honestly I am not sure i could play this deck efficiently without a consididerable amount of tinkering for whatever future meta i find myself in. Any advice on newer cards release within the past year and a half or so that fit in well here would be very appreciated. Thank y'all in advance for your help and advice.
