Commander Choices

Wyleth, Soul of Steel Show

Balls to the wall. Setting up protection is an early priority. If we get caught, we're going to have to start an all out assault. Stealth is critical. Strike with meaning.

Akiri, Fearless Voyager Show

Midrange. Card draw is traded for protection. This is more of a landing party mode in my opinion. We can go a little wider than Wyleth and still have built in protection for our party. Not great for assaulting, but good for maintaining a board presence. Treasure and Slowbad make pretty much make our important pieces invulnerable.

Reyav, Master Smith Show

Ignore protection, just swing and don't relent. Regiment Boxing Champion. Get him on board turn 2, equip the lowest cmc equipment you can throw out and just swing until they die.

Koll, the Forgemaster Show

The engineering deck is an inherently dangerous place, especially when the Goblins you hired don't follow safety regulations. When we absolutely need our tools to get the job done, we have to make sure our engineers don't somehow end up getting vaporized adjusting the harmonic resonators in the engine room.

One pissed off Kobold. His buddy paid the Goblin artificers to follow him around and break his shit. Toss equipment in the yard, cycle, break stuff and hand the Kobold "the big one".

Legion Helldiver Corps is something of a Saga or Anthem to Modal Equipment Voltron/Horde. Sometimes you need to suit up and send your fastest man in on a stealth mission. Sometimes you need a gal who can lead an assault and take a hit.

Occasionally, the Goblins in engineering bay get rowdy and start breaking things, so Koll or one of the other Ship Lieutenants has to step in before a certain someone does more than menace and trample around. Sometimes you need to take a load off and bet on the boxing match in the cargo hold. Don't forget to bring a drink, if you leave your seat, you'll likely miss the knockout. When our other resources just won't cut it, we can call in the drop ship Weatherlight to bring our ground units a refit.

Finding the Weatherlight vehicle made me think of a top-down RTS game I used to play called Helldivers.

"To win, players must fight or sneak through enemy-controlled territory, complete objectives, and call a dropship to extract them from the planet."

This immediately made me think of a landing party fighting their way to their ship through enemy territory by calling in reinforcements in the form of weapon drops, equipment and resupply. After several iterations and changes, this has evolved into what it is now. I'll still update this from time to time as I discover new tech, but this should be considered a complete and final build.
