This is an upgrade of the Symbiotic Swarm Pre-Con Deck for Commander 2020. I chose to use Nikara, Lair Scavenger and Yannik, Scavenging Sentinel for the commandars because they represent the neatest combo element in my opinion, and seem the most fun from the command zone. The deck is built around a +1/+1 counter theme, with a sacrifice/bounce sub-theme.

The main win condition of this deck is either combat with large creatures buffed up by the +1/+1 counters, or by infinite combo. The playstyle is pretty straight forward, with most pieces of the deck providing value in the form of card-draw or recursion while generally sticking to the +1/+1 counter them to get maximum value from Nikara, Lair Scavenger.

Cards to help trigger Nikara, Lair Scavenger's ability include Ephemerate, Eerie Interlude, Yannik, Scavenging Sentinel, Skyclave Shadowcat, and Eldrazi Displacer. Cards that like being bounced by the above are Massacre Wurm, Sun Titan, Avenger of Zendikar, Burning-Rune Demon, and Eternal Witness.

Combos:

  1. Any counter increaser (Winding Constrictor, Corpsejack Menace, Hardened Scales, ) + Walking Ballista with three or more +1/+1 counters on it + Rite of Passage. This combo works by having the Walking Ballista remove one counter from itself to deal 1 damage to itself. This triggers Rite of Passage to add a +1/+1 counter to the Walking Ballista, which gets increased by our counter increasers to add 2 +1/+1 counters to it instead. This lets you remove on of those counters and repeat the process, resulting in an infinitely large Walking Ballista. At the next turn's upkeep you can remove counters from the Walking Ballista to kill your opponents. Be careful not to do that on the same turn you did the combo because the Walking Ballista will be at 1 hp and die when you remove a single +1/+1 counter from it.

  2. Archangel of Thune + Spike Feeder. This combo gives you infinite life by removing a counter from Spike Feeder to gain 2 life, and then triggering Archangel of Thune to put a +1/+1 counter on each of your creatures. It also makes all of your creatures (except Spike Feeder) infinitely large, so you can use them to kill your opponents as well. If you add Crystalline Crawler to the mix, you get infinite mana as well.
