Cheap to make. Gives the game velocity because people draw cards. Consistent, and always feels like you are doing something. Sometimes explosive with Notorious Throng, or Beastmaster Ascension, or a Shaman of Forgotten Ways finish to drop life totals into range. The only drawback is that it does a lot of little things, and doesn't do "big" things that some people enjoy about EDH.
