Yasova Dragonclaw

Legendary Creature — Human Warrior

Trample

At the beginning of combat on your turn, you may pay . If you do, gain control of target creature an opponent controls with power less than Yasova Dragonclaw's power until end of turn, untap that creature, and it gains haste until end of turn.

I 100% agree with what legendofa said. Yasova Dragonclaw was around at that time too

Correct, all triggers that ask for a mana payment are phrased as "you may pay" and so fall under 603.5 for optional effects of triggered abilities. You referred to the first ability on Leshrac's Sigil as a trigger, so I assumed you were familiar with the eratta on the card. In case you aren't or if someone else looking at the thread isn't; the current Oracle text on that first ability is "Whenever an opponent casts a green spell, you may pay . If you do, look at that player’s hand and choose a card from it. The player discards that card." This wording makes it a trigger and as you can see, it says "you may pay".

The triggers for Leshrac's Sigil, Aerie Worshippers, Yasova Dragonclaw, and extort (Blind Obedience) go on the stack no matter if you intend to pay the optional cost, or even have the resources to.

603.5. Some triggered abilities’ effects are optional (they contain “may,” as in “At the beginning of your upkeep, you may draw a card”). These abilities go on the stack when they trigger, regardless of whether their controller intends to exercise the ability’s option or not. The choice is made when the ability resolves. Likewise, triggered abilities that have an effect “unless” something is true or a player chooses to do something will go on the stack normally; the “unless” part of the ability is dealt with when the ability resolves.

I think the first thing to do is simply state that Pioneer is a faster format than Standard and most decks are also much more powerful because you have a broader range of access cardwise, so there would be certain cards I would recommend taking out and replacing just so the deck can keep up. Secondly, the best themes in your deck seem to be activated creature abilities along with "Ferocious" creatures and abilities. Not all the cards in the deck necessarily suit this theme.

Cards I recommend putting in: Training Grounds - This card recently had a reprint and it works extremely well with Knucklebeast as well as other cards like Shaman of the Great Hunt.

Ghor-Clan Rampager - Essentially an improvement on Boon Satyr with better stats and a better keyword as a creture with the ability to effectively buff a creature by addinng it's keyword and stats to it. The ability is also 3 mana cheaper.

Fable of the Mirror-Breaker  Flip - It's an expensive card moneywise but worth it. For an explanation read the card XD.

Ilysian Caryatid - A newer version of Rattleclaw Mystic that improves when you have a "Ferocious" creature on field.

Lovestruck Beast - Fits the power 4 or greater theme perfectly and the one drop effect can help you curve out better. Good replacement for Heir of the Wilds

Migloz, Maze Crusher - 4/4 with lots of extra utility.

The Akroan War - An improvement on Yasova Dragonclaw in my opinion as it can also help thin or even wipe your opponents board.

Honorable Mention: Llanowar Elves - Could play four more one drop mana dorks but this deck might not want to given it's playing 2 other colours.

There are probably more possible options but these are ones that stick in my mind

Cards I would definitely take out: Ashcloud Phoenix - this is too expensive mana-wise for what it is and there a more useful cards you can play in the slots it's taking up.

Boon Satyr - Just to expensive generally for this format and there is an obvious better option.

Polukranos, World Eater - It's a four drop that outside of what is effectively a sacrifice ability has no function but being a 5/5, a role than can be filled by Lovestruck Beast

Crater's Claws and Icy Blast - X cost interaction of this kind has it's uses but generally never is played in Pioneer because it's normally worse than useless against Control decks with counterspells. Playing Stubborn Denial in your main deck feels so much better as it goes from a slightly worse spell pierce to a one drop Counterspell just by you playing the deck.

Rattleclaw Mystic - Tri-colour mana dorks are outdated nowadays really and the Morph ability doesn't make up for this, there are just better cards.

Another thing is that the mana base really would need some improvement because the speed of Pioneer is not very favourable towards anything more than two colours without playing some combination of shock, fast or pain lands along with a few basics.

I hope this is helpful for you and wish you the best of luck in any games you play

That seems weird if only because Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar technically doesn't have a 'cost' cost and only an ability that costs or and yet she ends up in the gold color identity column and not over with poor accidentally uncolored Greasefang and the Hope of Ghirapur. I guess she has the little pip next to her types. I mean I can see that you might not be using these cards in a format that doesn't rely on color identity, but they still have it and a lot of people use it for deck construction.

I guess if I were to make a suggestion for functional options maybe adding a color identity button would be good.

Oh and couldn't find Jorn, God of Winter  Flip or Svella, Ice Shaper just looking for 3 mana legendary green creatures, unless I add in 'legendary snow creatures' which makes it feel like I'm expected to know snow creatures before actually looking for them.

Anyhow you caught me in the middle of typing up the following when I noticed the quick reply:

I have a slightly more complete list of cards that don't seem to have the appropriate color identity at least as far as searching them out and organizing them on my side goes. I was looking for a list of all the possible Tiny Leaders a person could use (so legendary 3 mana value or less creature cards that could serve as a commander in a game that uses commanders) and these are the cards I could not find if I searched by color identity or if once I found them they didn't fit their color identity (in all cases they show up under a single color category instead of 'gold'). There are probably several other cards that have this issue that exist outside my search parameters.

Greasefang, Okiba Boss is missing her color identity. She shows up as 'Colorless'.

Also, Alesha, Who Smiles at Death, Yasova Dragonclaw, Shu Yun, the Silent Tempest all show up in mono-color searches, but not when for instance you search for 3 mana Mardu color cards in Alesha's case.

The ability you are referring to on Yasova Dragonclaw is a triggered ability. It triggers at the start of combat on your turn. You get the opportunity to pay exactly once each time the trigger resolves. If you copy the trigger or have multiple combat phases on your turn you can use it each time. But without other effects it is a once per turn thing.

So. You have alot going on. 1st off realize if you make it as evil as you mention some play groups will ask you not to play thst deck. Or they will ask you to take certain cards out Shivan Harvest i pulled out of my Yasova Dragonclaw deck for instance. If you don't care that's. Cool we can go evil.

Small note on the answer to scenario 1- SBAs have nothing to do with when something triggers. Willbreaker actually triggers while the Yasova Dragonclaw trigger is being put on the stack. This is a minor issue, but in some extreme corner cases with other triggers it matters that triggers happen at any time, not just when SBAs are checked.
