Warchief Giant

Creature — Giant Warrior

Haste

Myriad (Whenever this creature attacks, for each opponent other than defending player, you may put a token that's a copy of this creature onto the battlefield tapped and attacking that player or a planeswalker he or she controls. Exile the token at the end of combat.)

Thank you for checking out my Isshin deck, I appreciate it. In taking a look at yours, I have a few ideas for some potential additions:

  • Cathedral of War could be a decent utility land to add, especially to tie in with your other Exalted effects.

  • Vault of the Archangel can be used offensively or defensively as needed.

  • Reconnaissance and Dolmen Gate are both helpful protection effects, and I think would be that much more important in an Exalted/single attacker leaning strat. In case you aren't familiar with the timing on Reconnaissance, this EDHREC article can help explain it a bit better. Basically, your creatures are considered attackers until the end of combat, so you can utilize Reconnaissance to untap and save your attackers at any point during combat, even after they've dealt combat damage.

  • Clever Concealment could be a banger for board protection since most of your creatures will stay untapped.

  • Although they aren't Samurai, Tiamat's Fanatics and/or Warchief Giant could fit in with your creatures that also care about solo attacking Warriors. These would still work with Exalted since the Myriad tokens are never declared as attackers.

  • Along kind of similar lines, Inquisitorial Rosette can be helpful to get some additional token attackers, and an equipment that provides an evasion anthem.

Hope these suggestions are helpful. Hopefully we won't have to wait for another return to Kamigawa to get more Samurai

Adding brackets for card names is a must, in my opinion. It's much easier for people (yourself included!) to just hover over the name to see it rather than having to Google search. On top of that, you can make the description a bit easier to read by adding panels. Remove the space in the middle of each line.

=== accordion

=== panel:Panel 1! info here!

=== endpanel

=== endaccordion

You can add in multiple panels, just be sure to end one before starting a new one. Apologies if you already knew this. Just realized your account is 10+ years old. lol

Anyway! As for the deck itself, I love it! I'm glad that someone other than myself realized how great Myriad creatures can be in this deck. I have a half built version of this that focuses more on Ninjutsu as a mechanic but I think the ETB tokens from stuff like Daring Piracy type effects might be the better way to go. Quick rules question, though. If something like Warchief Giant connects on all three opponents, you'd still only get the one dragon token, correct? Because of the dreaded "Whenever one or more" wording on the commander?

I love Isshin! Definitely one of the best commanders from the past few years. I kind of wish he was more of a samurai tribal commander, but I love this "uprising" type effect with attack triggers and combat.

I have an Isshin deck as well, but mine leans hard into token generation. If making a stupid amount of tokens sounds interesting to you, I highly recommend Kaya, Geist Hunter and more creatures that have Myriad, like Herald of the Host and Elturel Survivors and Warchief Giant. The new Mondrak, Glory Dominus might be a good card to look at, too (hopefully the price drops, though...).

Blade of Selves would make two duplicates per opponent after the first (but only the original would get the "attacks alone" bonus that so many Samurai seem to have).

Angelic Exaltation and any of the cards with Exalted

Ronin Cliffrider (especially if you drop in equipment with Deathtouch...), Ironsoul Enforcer, Nagao, Bound by Honor, Sensei Goldentail

If you wanted to add non-samuri creatures I would suggest Ankle Shanker, Aurellia the warleader, Krenko, Tin Street Kingpin, Banshee of the Dread Choir, Herald of the Host and maybe Warchief Giant

I've been finding that with the use of Hoarding Ogre, the goblin created by Fable of the Mirror-Breaker  Flip, Sword of the Animist, Aerial Surveyor, and Shiny Impetus (used to buff a creature that I want to continuously attack with anyways in order to fix mana or defensively), along with one of the copy generators such as the Delina, Wild Mage. Flamerush Rider, or Reflection of Kiki-Jiki  Flip that I have an embarrassment of treasure tokens by turn 4 or 5. It seems like I can get away with drawing into one or two big guys in order to really solidify a lead. I'm also just into big bombs a not so guilty pleasure!

That being said I forgot to mention Fireflux Squad. As far as I can tell we can actually sac the tokens generated by Captain's Claws, Myriad copies from Warchief Giant (not in your deck last I checked but in your maybeboard) and Herald of the Host, Goblins created by Krenko, Tin Street Kingpin, Flamerush Rider and Delina to dig through our decks to throw out a non-token creature that won't exile or die at the end of combat. I'm going to test this card out. I think it may be something of a sleeper. Unless I completely misunderstand its effects it'll be like a second, less strict Winota, Joiner of Forces cheating out some of those bombs.

Purphoros is a really strong choice for a commander. Personally I would take advantage of his ability by running more token generating cards. These would be my swaps:

Flame Spill -> Elemental Mastery
Expedition Map -> Mind Stone (Mind Stone gets Purphoros out faster)
Archwing Dragon -> Chancellor of the Forge
Red Elemental Blast -> Firecat Blitz
Drakuseth, Maw of Flames -> Neheb, the Eternal
Bombard -> Tempt with Vengeance
Dragon's Approach -> Thatcher Revolt
Moltne Influence -> Rally the Horde
Lambholt Raconteur -> Tilonalli's Summoner
Arclight Phoenix -> Warchief Giant
Greater Gargadon -> Norin the Wary
Fling -> Hordeling Outburst
Staggershock -> Mogg War Marshal
Captivating Crew -> Grinning Ignus
Bloodsworn Steward -> Torbran, Thane of Red Fell
Cleansing Screech -> Panharmonicon

Super fun deck! I have a few suggestions that I think may be fun.

I think one of the more fun mechanics to play with having Wulfgar out is myriad. For instance Caller of the Pack or Warchief Giant or Blade of Selves.

Any cards with Lure effects like Shinen of Life's Roar or Roar of Challenge are fun ways to get extra damage through.

I would also consider some recursion since the deck runs so aggro, like Bala Ged Recovery  Flip or Regrowth to get some of those heavy hitters back.

Super fun deck! Looks like a lot of fun!
