rona, herald of invasion works with retraction helix + mox amber. more emries + rona might make playing more mox ambers make more sense. If you're playing 4 emries, having 4 Mishra's Bauble would be a no-brainer.

Urza, Lord High Artificer might also be a solid addition, allows you to generate infinite mana regardless of whether or not you have mox amber.

Generally, thassa's oracle is better than labman. other wincon considerations are Bitter Ordeal, Cut / Ribbons, Grinding Station or Grapeshot.

that being said, playing 1x emrakul is probably the best wincon. it would allow you to loot infinitely until you get an infinite mana enabler.

another direction to go is Sleep-Cursed Faerie. It might not go infinite but it can probably bounce your opponents board with retraction helix if you have an urza in play.

TheForsakenOne: So, yeah. You got me...I admit, I didn't really -plan- this deck out. I really wanted to build the deck, so I took a lot of Black spells that I enjoy a lot, and threw them together. I mean, to be fair, it works pretty damn good. (lol) I do honestly appreciate the suggestions, however, and plan on implementing what I can. Thank you.

I want to make an argument for Xathrid Gorgon, and please feel free to counter-argument: I like this card because she can shut down Commanders. It doesn't matter if she's fast or not, she doesn't need to be. If I can turn off a Voja, Jaws of the Conclave, an Urza, Lord High Artificer, or even an Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger, I consider that a win.

Anyway, thanks again for your time and suggestions.

I guess it could help with some things like sagas that can get a little crowded, but if it's really just to combat cards being wordy, then I have to say that it's a pretty bad answer. Maybe it's just me, but I think that most players don't dislike the literal number of words on cards, but how many effects something has. I don't know how many times I forget that Questing Beast has vigilance, or that Urza, Lord High Artificer creates a token, and these are the first things in the text. It's not a problem of words, it's a problem of, this card does X insane things, and sometimes you forget that for some reason it does more too.

I mean, these phrases may not be necessary really, but if they are cutting clarification to make space for more effects per card and make gamestates harder and harder to keep track of, then yeah, it's a pretty tonedeaf change.

Have you considered Grinning Ignus? Great card to rebuild Animar with if he gets removed. Could even add in Birgi, God of Storytelling  Flip for free red mana. Plus, infinite combo. And using Vizier, you already would have an infinite mana combo with Grinning and Animar. Add in Urza, Lord High Artificer and now you cast your whole deck. Add in Altar of the Brood and you can just mill everyone and pass turn for wins.

In general though, Grinning Ignus should be an Animar staple. He rebuilds Animar so fas and lets himself be recast for almost free. Plus once Animar gets 2 counters, you start generating free colorless mana. Which, with Vizier, lets you start casting more things.

Also consider Ornithopter of Paradise. Same thing as Birds but it’s colorless so free casting with Animar and free counters.

Best card I’ve seen for Animar because one: it generates mana and paired with something like Vizier of the Menagerie, you go infinite with Animar.

Grinning Ignus. He is self explanatory with Animar. And even if you don’t have the ability to go infinite, make everything a Mountain and you can dump multiple counters on Animar each turn with him. Add in something like Altar of the Brood and now you are doing damage with him to decks.

Now if you want a game winning/play your entire deck Combo: Animar with 2 counters, Birgi, God of Storytelling  Flip, Grinning Ignus, and Urza, Lord High Artificer. Animar and Birgi being down, bounce Grinning a million times. You’ll have more than enough mana to cast anything using colorless mana. That’s where Urza comes in with his 5 cost ability. Game over.

Now switch Urza out for Altar of the Brood. Milling wins. And even for someone playing Phyrexian Unlife, you still win.

Best part is if you don’t like the infinite combos, just add Grinning Ignus and leave Birgi and Vizier out. Without a way to generate red mana or use colorless mana as red mana, Grinning is great for rebuilding Animar when someone removes him.

Inspiring Statuary is a great call! I think that is a definite add. Brudiclad, Telchor Engineer is a bit too slow, but Urza, Lord High Artificer seems interesting. I'll give it a shot. I think Hullbreacher is banned :(

Cutting asmo to go 'all in' on combo food a neat idea - If you're already looking at a fetch manabase+treasure and all-in on combo I'd look at Time Sieve and its various brews to give you combo-redundancy (and removes the need for haste)

Even when you don't 'go off' with sieve, the threat of taking an extra turn or two in the face of pressure massively improves combo deck's situation. In lists with asmo Sarinth Steelseeker/Unearth was already a thing, but here its both budget and should up reliability quite a bit.

Urza, Lord High Artificer offers a second 'tap artifacts for mana' source that is also a backup plan.

If none of that appeals, I'd look for alternatives to weather the storm and fog in the sideboard - 'food combo's theoretical advantage against burn and similar is just cracking food for life, which should be its metagame edge by freeing up those sideboard slots.
