Thud

Sorcery

As an additional cost to cast this spell, sacrifice a creature.

Thud deals damage equal to the sacrificed creature's power to target creature, player or planeswalker.

Corpse Explosion and Supernatural Stamina are two cards that would go really well with this deck. Pull out a Nova Chaser, make it a 12/2 with a free revive. With all the cards like Thud, Temur Battle Rage and Corpse Explosion as follow ups or additions, you get a likely game-ender. Not to mention being able to sneak in the Chaser for no mana with the other suggestions in the comments.

Thanks for posting, idfkgabe. Fling or Thud would definitely be better here, but I wanted to avoid those two since that would make Lyzolda, the Blood Witch kind of irrelevant. She’s the card I wanted to build around, so I didn’t want to undermine that.

legendofa on New hubs to be added

Made_Compleat That's one of the most common requests, and one of the hardest to address. Right now, I consider Theft decks to fall under the Aikido hub. This is sort of a tenuous position for them, but I'm not sure how to separate it from the "damage reflection" archetype built around Deflecting Palm, Boros Fury-Shield, and similar cards. They have a similar theme of turning the opponent's deck against them. I'm also not sure if decks based on Control Magic-type effects are similar enough to Threaten + Thud decks to belong in the same hub. Any thoughts you might have are very welcome.

Thud is an amusing option that dodges Circle of Protection: Black, removal, and flyers.

Cragganwick Cremator dumping Yargle and Multani seems like a fun jank way to close out games. Yargle is also legendary, so Goryo's Vengeance can grab him back for some massive surprise damage ^_^

Throw in Thud and Fling for the ultimate frogapult package.

Neat construction! +1

If you were to invest in 2 or 3 Crucible of Worlds then you could use 4x of your Raze and not worry about blowing up your own lands. Also Ghost Quarter and Field of Ruin become re-usable with the Crucible (Against non-basic heavy decks, you can even quickly run them out of basic land by re-using the Field)

Other possible picks along your lines:

  • Custody Battle gives you a form of Creature Control, but works best when you have a sacrifice outlet for them like Thud, Fiend Artisan, or Birthing Pod so that you don't have to give them back after attacking
  • Destructive Urge is a nice Land-related enchantment for one of your Trample creatures forcing your opponent to block every point of damage each turn
  • Shivan Wumpus is another nice Trample creature with great Power/Tough for his mana cost; opponents are very disinclined to pay his cost most of the time in a Land Destro build.

PickleNutz on Syr Gwyn, Hero of Ashvale …

Hello,

I am currently interested in making a mostly competitive Syr Gwyn, Hero of Ashvale commander deck. I’m aware of staples such as Path to Exile and Sol Ring, so I’m not asking for card suggestions that are on the nose. I’m mostly looking for highly competitive card draw engines and equipment pieces.

I want to make this approximately a 7-8 turn board wide win and highly functioning deck. Combo pieces in mardu that work well with Syr Gwyn, lands that can impact play, and on theme creature suggestions are what I am after. My first idea was to create a cheerios style voltron deck to draw out huge numbers of cards and stack up Syr Gwyn for a board wide win.

Sol Ring

Chrome Mox

Hammer of Nazahn

Helm of the Host

Paradise Mantle

Lightning Greaves

These are already on the brew list.

Ideas are to keep costs low, and find some multi-target options like Myriad or copies that can send my commander damage into multiple directions.

Thud

Grapeshot

Fling

These are options I’ve considered for final touches as a direct damage option with the commander.

KBK7101 solid picks for sure. I always appreciate the value of a well timed Sneak Attack to create two, maybe three deadly beaters and Thud or Fling at end of combat for extra-savory value.
