Thrill of Possibility

Instant

As an additional cost to cast this spell, discard a card.

Draw two cards.

Yeah the Magmatic Galleon just doesn't do enough to warrant spending a Refurbish and can't be hit by God-Pharaoh's Gift or Portal to Phyrexia. So I think if you want more removal Roast is a similar effect that is much cheaper.

Cathartic Reunion pulls double duty in the deck. It is worse that Thrill of Possibility being sorcery speed and needing to discard 2 cards as an additional cost. However the forced discard also benefits the deck. Sometimes your Cathartic Reunion gets countered and you don't get to draw cards, but you still get to fill your graveyard for later turns as the discard is required as a part of the casting cost. Sometimes you just want to fill your graveyard to reanimate, that is the power Cathartic Reunion brings.

In saying that, I do run both as both help the game plan!

This looks great! I don't know anything about pioneer, but I can appreciate a battlecruiser deck when I see once. I do realize Magmatic Galleon is propably a lot worse than any of the Hulks, but it might be a card to keep in mind for additional spot removal. One question: The double discard cost on Cathartic Reunion always feels pretty steep to me. Youobviously want to discard some Hulks, but wouldn't Thrill of Possibility be sufficient for that, considering you can cast it at instant speed?

Edit: I missed that you already have Thrill in here, maybejust ignore that part ;)

Yep, it's a good deck for sure lol.

I guess my only real questions/statements are as follows:

Is there any reason you're not running Entomb? I can understand not running things like Displacer Kitten or Storm-Kiln Artist, but Entomb is a 2nd 1-card wincon alongside Demonic Consultation with this Commander since you're running Intuition. I'd ask the same for Deflecting Swat, especially since it was also reprinted recently.

Consider Tolarian Winds over Thrill of Possibility! It usually draws more cards, is better for Underworld Breach & can be pitched to Force of Will & Force of Negation. Value! Merchant Scroll - being able to Tutor up the almighty Intuition - should probably be tested as well of you haven't already done so.

LordKunai,

The Snow-Covered Swamp and Snow-Covered Plains are protection against Blood Moon. We don't need Mountain because most of the lands will be mountains in that case.

They also cannot be Swamp or Plains because then you have a potential of countering our own Tainted Pact when looking for a Razaketh, the Foulblooded or a Master of Cruelties with Kaalia of the Vast triggered ability on the stack, or when looking for that last combo piece, or a Counterspell to stop someone from winning the game. It doubles our options for basic lands but also means that they don't conflict with our intstant tutor.

Mox Diamond could replace an interaction piece like Praetor's Grasp but it is nice to pull the opponents Thassa's Oracle and then win the game with a Tainted Pact. It could also pull a more control oriented card like Hellkite Tyrant that doesn't necessarily win the game, but he can devestate some players boards, could replace a Grand Abolisher but probably Everybody Lives! because well Everybody Lives (except the player trying to Fish-Consul win that is). Chrome Mox has a low activation rate in the turns that matter (I have a tab with the calculations but I haven't update my combine rates based on new artifacts, although Mox Diamond actually improves it's rate. Rakdos Signet isn't great becuase it's a MV3 (2 to cast, 1 to activate), so probably just easy to replace that! Thrill of Possibility is good to get a Worldgorger Dragon or Razaketh, the Foulblooded if for some reason we draw it, but isn't necessary. Thoughtseize might even be better (just target yourself), but even when used on an opponent it creates card disadvantage for you and one opponent, leaving the two others with card advantage now.

Probably Rakdos Signet goes, but we have different options for sure.

You need way more ramp in this list if you want it to be consistent with it's curve. Pyretic Ritual, Desperate Ritual, Seething Song & Battle Hymn are all great here. A few more rocks would do you some good as well, like Thran Dynamo & Basalt Monolith. The ones that you usually see in multicolor decks like Arcane Signet & Fellwar Stone are still pretty solid in monocolor builds that aren't .

Treasonous Ogre & Birgi, God of Storytelling  Flip are classic bangers that can help ramp you out, with the added benefit of pseudo card-draw on Birgi's flip side.

More card draw and tutors never hurts, either. Tectonic Reformation is pretty nice here since you're running so many lands, & Gamble is one of the best tutors in the game. Fervent Mastery is worth considering, but can obviously be especially punishing for non-graveyard decks. Reckless Handling is pretty nice if you're running some dank artifacts, which you are! Imperial Recruiter is another classic that I wouldn't necessarily recommend for this iteration of your list, but may come in handy later.

Other enchantments to consider here in my opinion are Molten Echoes, Sneak Attack & Mana Echoes as grease for your deck engine. Running Underworld Breach would allow you to more comfortably run draw pieces like Faithless Looting, Thrill of Possibility, Cathartic Reunion, Tormenting Voice, Wheel of Fortune, Magus of the Wheel & Wheel of Misfortune. Also certain stax pieces like Blood Moon, Price of Glory & Stranglehold to help shut down whatever your opponents are trying to do.

Universal Automaton seems like great value here as well, but I could understand not including it. Wandering Archaic  Flip on the other hand I would 100% recommend for any & all monocolor decks.

Good luck refining your list!

Any thoughts on Bitter Reunion? It works as another discard/draw effect and hands out a round of haste, but I haven't yet decided if that extra is a deal breaker or not. When it works, it makes the game a laugher, but just as often it's a slower Thrill of Possibility.

This looks like a really fun commander! So, right off the bat, there's a cool way day/night interacts with this commander and your opponents: if you can force it to night consistently, you'll more heavily punish your opponents for playing spells, since they're going to switch it back to day and power up your commander. The easiest way to do that is by playing more instants / at flash speed.

Desperate Ravings / Thrill of Possibility / Big Score + Unexpected Windfall all help positively synergize with your "draw" effects like Ominous Seas and Teferi's Ageless Insight, and also help you trigger the day/night change by electing to play on other people's turns instead of your own.

Seize the Spotlight gets an honorable mention for being great, if you find the slot for it.

For cuts, I would consider: Pouncing Shoreshark (low impact)

Laboratory Maniac - Kind of an all-or-nothing strategy, and sounds like from your description that you'd rather win with combat.

Khenra Spellspear  Flip - doesn't fit with commander, since you want to be able to force it to night whenever your turn rolls around.

Boon of the Wish-Giver - sorcery speed is kinda meh IMO - I imagine people will be trying to kill your commander before it makes this cost.

Mulldrifter - there are instants and sorceries that can draw more for the same cost.

Happy building!
