Welcome to the club, Morgothman! Do you have a preferred color set or strategy? Is there a special card or combo you want to include?

Broadly speaking, if you can get a budget mana base, the rest of the deck will follow, and the mana base is often the most expensive part. Lands like Yavimaya Coast, Shadowblood Ridge, and Brightclimb Pathway  Flip, artifacts like Izzet Signet and Sol Ring, and spells like Spoils of Victory and Farhaven Elf can help deliver reliability on the cheap.

Here's a deck I've been tinkering with recently, specifically intended to be under $100. Early tests are promising. (The description isn't fully fleshed out yet, my apologies.)

It has been decided that 'Portal: Three Kingdoms' is now a legal set in our format. New cards to pick from :-)

Thanks for the question Metroid_Hybrid :-)

Spoils of Victory

Three Visits

Spoils of Victory seems like a straight upgrade to Untamed Wilds. You can fetch a basic land with it (since basic lands have the basic land types, go figure), however this allows you to also get any dual/shock/etc. that you want and can put them straight into play. And again, you can play them untapped (unless the land has additional conditions).

And unlike Nature's Lore / Three Visits, you can grab a non-forest dual. There is also Farseek, however it puts the land into play tapped and can't explicitly fetch a forest, albeit at 2 mana (and with a pretty promo).

But I feel like I would go down the route of Nature's Lore, Three Visits, Farseek and Spoils of Victory before running Untamed Wilds. And generally you don't care much about the land entering tapped for one less mana. After all, the sooner you can get your ramp down, the sooner you can profit from it.

Atarka can make a pretty mean combat damage deck. It's not the best at interaction, but player removal counts as removal, too. I notice you're not running much green interaction, so I would suggest adding Nature's Claim and Return to Nature. They're nice and cheap.

Some upgrades could be Untamed Wilds and Spoils of Victory for Kodama's Reach and Cultivate. There's also Skyshroud Claim and Beanstalk Giant. Having lands that can ramp is really nice too, so I'd consider swapping some basics for Myriad Landscape and Blighted Woodland.

Bower Passage gives basically all your dragons unblockable (it's some really nice tech for dragon decks). This ca

Savage Ventmaw is an excellent dragon in my opinion. Helps a lot with the mana. If you have a Klauth, Unrivaled Ancient or Old Gnawbone that would be better. But the uncommon is good on a budget. Any one of these goes very well with Aggravated Assault or Hellkite Charger.

Now for the expensive suggestions. Xenagos, God of Revels lets you one-shot people with your commander while also giving haste. I know you may not want to be one of THOSE people, but if you put Grafted Exoskeleton on your commander, it also lets you one-shot people. Balefire Dragon and Hellkite Tyrant are excellent for completely wiping out opponents. Steel Hellkite is a budget alternative to those. The Great Henge is powerful in this deck by giving you draw, extra power, mana, and being a low cost once you have a dragon out. Utvara Hellkite is an army in a can. Gets ridiculous fast.

Some cards I would consider cutting are definitely the burn spells. Magma Jet, Lightning Bolt, Volcanic Fallout, Dragon's Fire, Banefire, and Atarka's Command may be good in other formats, but they fall short in commander. They aren't very good interaction because you'll often not be able to deal with the biggest threats on the board. Better cards for interaction would probably be Ryusei, the Falling Star, Rolling Earthquake, and Scourge of Valkas.

Columbia_Knight, Into the North was in my maybeboard for a bit as I was thinking about running snows over standard basics and as you noted with Rimewood being released made it a bit more of an option. My main reason for not running it is that I already have the deck foiled out. Having to purchase foil snows just to run Into the North didn't seem like it was worth it. There is plenty of ramp already. Most of the ramp spells I end up recycling and reusing anyway to net some extra benefit from. I didn't want to over extend on the ramp aspect of the deck. I just needed enough to get the wheels in motion. If I were playing more cards that relied on snow lands being in play or in my deck I would for sure have chosen ITN over say Rampant Growth or Three Visits . Three Visits can go for a basic forest or the Rimewood. Farseek can go for the Rimewood or a basic island and Spoils of Victory kinda does the same as Farseek except it puts the land in untapped and goes for a forest as well. So for me the better choice is just to stick with the deck the way it is. Maybe they will print some better/different snow lands with abilities or something down the road, then I'd have to see if at that point ITN would be a better choice than what is already in the deck. I appreciate the feedback. Thank you! Also my reply yesterday has some typos. I apologize if it was hard to read. It was the end of the day for me and I was getting ready to head home from work so I typed it up in a hurry.

I've made some cuts!

Changed Maelstrom Nexus for Descendants' Path . It's 2 mana value lower, requires 4 less colors, still casts, and doesn't care if it casts a MV greater than or equal to a creature I control.

Changed Shared Animosity for Rhystic Study . They're the same cost, but drawing cards/taxing my opponents is more important than making the hive deal more damage.

Changed Leave / Chance for Teferi's Protection . There have been multiple improvements in card draw and Chance was never used in gameplay. Leave forces me to cast all my board again.

Changed Ready / Willing for Cyclonic Rift . I needed more one-sided boardwipes, and have plenty of other forms of defense that makes Ready/Willing too redundant.

Changed Watery Grave for Vampiric Tutor . Going down to 37 lands is fine, and part of the manabase that's out of balance. Vampiric Tutor is the most powerful tutor, no explanation necessary.

Changed Polluted Delta for Overgrown Tomb (apparently it wasn't actually in the deck). Just updating imbalanced manabase, I don't need every fetch in this deck.

Changed Apex Devastator for Vanquisher's Banner . V Banner is 1/2 the cost and provides card draw upon casting. Apex Devastator was fun, and it can explode very well, but it's better elsewhere.

Changed Fury Sliver for Bonescythe Sliver . Just mana reduction costs, they both provide doublestrike. I may reconsider adding Fury Sliver back in for redundancy.

Changed Cleaving Sliver for Brood Sliver . Creating additional slivers at no cost is better than +2/+0, right?

Changed Commander's Sphere for Realmwalker . Additional sliver and card advantage, as well as scouting the top-card for cascade potential.

Changed Pillar of Origins for Prismatic Omen . Pillar of Origins is a mana rock for about 1/2 the spells in the deck, Prismatic Omen color fixes all my lands for all of the spells in the deck.

Changed Averna, the Chaos Bloom for Shifting Sliver . Averna was fun, and the mana ramp was explosive, but let's give no-non-slivers a chance to see how it impacts cascades.

Changed Explosive Vegetation for Reflections of Littjara . Reflections of Littjara doubles Mana Echoes, Distant Melody, Lavabelly, Manaweft/Gemhide, Opaline, Sedge, Spiteful, and Thorncaster effects.

Spells being considered that I own currently; Hollowhead Sliver , Doomskar , & Pyre of Heroes .

Spells being considered that are being purchased soon; Necrotic Sliver , Root Sliver , Bloom Tender , Pulmonic Sliver , Spoils of Victory , Darksteel Mutation , Synapse Sliver , Magma Sliver , Intruder Alarm , Horned Sliver , and Amoeboid Changeling .

Galerider Sliver is being purchased soon and will be changed for Winged Sliver .

This is a pretty cool deck, thanks for sharing! I was recently looking into building a "Common Commander" ("Commonder"?) deck as a simple deckbuilding restriction for the 99, so it was nice finding out about PDH, which has overlap in legendary uncommon creatures as commanders. I've built this deck and it's a ton of fun.

I want to play only cards available as paper commons though if reasonably possible and I was wondering what you would replace Whispers of the Muse with ( Spoils of Victory seems rather easily replaced by Reap and Sow .)

So far the best replacement seems to be Petals of Insight which sorts the library for infinite mana unless the number of cards in there is a multiple of 3, and it can still draw at least one card you really want even then. It just doesn't cycle as well.
