Balaam__ I agree about building towards a goal that is non-traditional:

Building to win is so Spike, and I wanna win like Timmy or Johnny. I personally think this deck is more Johnny because at first glance.. you might miss some of these key interactions!

I.e.: things like how Zombie Infestation makes bodies that can be tossed for Scourge of Nel Toth, and then replenish your hand with Shadow of the Grave.

Boneyard Scourge is a cool card, but admittedly it isn't eternal format legal... that doesn't mean I won't use his happy ass anyways!

As far as "going second" as a precedent, I would think things like Serum Powder could help do a thing.. I even really like the idea of "going second" but having a strong "turn zero" presence to throw off your opponents (things like the Leylines or Chancellors).

Unfortunately, in competitive settings we both know it's gonna be typical "lame"/boring stuff like:

Or, my personal favorite, if you splash green, you can have access to all my favorite removal, Graveyard staples, etc.:

And I wouldn't leave feedback about "How to" without covering the obvious ones, or at least some cards that immediately cross my mind for improvements:

There is a piece of my heart that wishes older Zombies had a more dangerous presence for this, like (I think) Lord of the Undead or Undead Warchief. Even a little slot for Soulless One.

Hell, I've even considered taking this theme to an EDH setting due to a video I saw of Jimmy Wong on Game Nights where he uses Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar as a psuedo-reanimator type build. With the inclusion of , I would especially love to use Bladewing the Risen or his newest iteration from Dominaria United. Initially, what I remembered wanting was "Zombies and Zombie Dragons".

And if we're mentioning that new set, Defiler of Flesh makes this blow up too. So many great "The Rot of the Horde" feeling cards that feed a sensation of an overwhelming wave of Undead minions!

Things like Abomination of Llanowar in a build would also be fun.

Really enjoyed our discussion about this and I'm really curious to see if/what kinda spin you would put on it!

Hey, these removals spells might help you out: Mutual Destruction and Drag to the Underworld.

Also, I would consider removing Thornbite Staff, as the combo is a bit too specific, and also maybe remove Army of the Damned for a better all-around cards (such as Soulless One or Necrogoyf

Hi there! +1, Zombies ftw!! As a Ghoulcaller Gisa player myself, I found that I was always short to make a lot of zombies because the creatures I sacrificed had too little power. I play The lord package, but to sacrifice the lords is of course a shame. You need beefy creatures to go wide. I implemented a few extra tools to beef up my zombies in total. A few suggestions;

Stoneforge Masterwork and/or Junkyo Bell, both cards have the effect of Coat of Arms, put it on a token, attack into one of your opponents then sacrifice it to Gisa.

Rotting Regisaur,Waning Wurm,Phylactery Lich,Soulless One,Vindictive Lich all zombies, high power, cheap cast, great fodder.

Phyrexian Reclamation is a must in this deck, there is nothing more fun then Gempalm Polluter three times in a row, you got plenty mana makers in your deck already to do that.

Non-zombie cards:

Ayara, First of Locthwain: Drain/Gain and card draw and more devotion for Gray Merchant of Asphodel. The 2/2 Zombie Tokens made by Gisa are black. Sacrificing a 10/10 token, will make 10 new zombies and 10 Ayara triggers.

This deck definitely deserves an upvote for its name (are you a fan of Iron Maiden?), but I do have several suggestions: first, I would swap Adaptive Automaton and Metallic Mimic for Lord of the Undead, Cemetery Reaper, and/or Undead Warchief, all of whom shall provide the same benefits, and much more.

Also, is there any room for Soulless One and/or Graveborn Muse in this deck? They would both be awesome for a zombie tribal deck.

Hey, you're welcome. Good job with the update, but you can still do a lot more upgrading with such a high budget.

In my opinion Amulet of Vigor is not worth playing just for the few interactions that it has. Making Zombies that will ETB tapped not be tapped is fine, but if you have to use a card spot in the deck just to be able to do this interaction then it's not worth it. With such a high budget you shouldn't need to play the Bounce lands since there's many other more playable dual lands to use instead such as the three Shock lands. I feel you're playing the Bounce lands and other lands that ETB tapped only because of Vigor which is hindering your deck. Arcane Signet, two drop mana rock ramp would do a lot more than Vigor.

Temple of the False God is not a good land here because you don't have land ramp to accelerate the amount of lands you have on the battlefield. Without Urborg, you're relying too much on making a land drop on your turns. Temple can't tap for mana until turn five, more likely after which is not worth it.


To continue with upgrades my advice is to cut Molderhulk, Vulturous Zombie, Eternal Skylord, Soulless One, Havengul Lich. These Zombies are some of the least good of the rest; they're all outclassed by other creatures. You don't need Skylord because you have Wonder which is a much better card, giving flying to all your creatures including Muldrotha not just tokens.

To make Wonder more consistent consider adding more Island dual lands? Especially Watery Grave, but also Sunken Hollow. Fetch lands that can search for a Island are also helpful, Flooded Strand, Polluted Delta, etc. It's kind of a annoying to have Underground Sea and not be able to fetch it with a Fetch land. Crop Rotation can be helpful since it can tutor for an Island or Urborg or Coffers and put it onto the battlefield.

Consider adding more reanimation? Buried Alive is powerful enabler for reanimation tutoring for three creatures one of which can be Wonder. Cryptbreaker is a good one drop Zombie who's an enabler for reanimation or putting other permanents into your graveyard for Muldrotha. It can fuel it's own draw ability by creating Zombie tokens. Animate Dead for reanimation has interaction with Muldrotha since it's a permanent and it can also reanimate an opponents creature. Reanimate, reanimate any creature in your graveyard or an opponents paying life.

Hey, looks like your going for a Zombie tribal theme.

Going to have to make some sacrifices of five drop Zombies and here's some advice. Sidisi, Undead Vizier, Gray Merchant of Asphodel and The Scarab God are the only three you need the rest could be cut. Muldrotha, Grave Titan, Rooftop Storm and Liliana, Dreadhorde General are the only six drops you need.

I have a Zombie tribal Muldrotha deck that I made last year, Zombie Grave Wave (Budget). My deck is budget, $200, but it could give you some ideas and you can replace the budget alternatives I'm using with more expensive price cards that you have. More advice to improve your deck is to include Gravecrawler infinite combos since it's a Zombie.

Gravecrawler + Phyrexian Altar + Diregraf Captain/Plague Belcher/Bontu's Monument/Blood Artist/Vengeful Dead is an infinite combo to make all your opponents lose life. Sac Gravecrawler with Altar, use the one black mana to cast Gravecrawler from your graveyard and repeat. Gravecrawler + Altar is infinite casts of Gravecrawler from your graveyard which can be used with other cards. Diregraf Colossus is infinite 2/2 Zombies. Undead Augur/Secrets of the Dead/Guardian Project can draw into a win condition. Kill all your opponents creatures with Grave Pact.


Cards to consider cutting:

To also make room for more lands and other card upgrades this is more than 13 card suggestions to consider cutting. Many of these suggestions are good cards, but are very much outclassed by other better cards in your deck already or you could add with such a high budget.

20x total lands is not enough for a functioning Commander deck. Want at least 30-36 lands depending on how high the avg. CMC of your deck is and how many additional mana sources you include. The current avg. CMC is 3.7 which is too high. What's making it this high is too many high CMC Zombies especially five drops.

Thanks for the feedback Yeti_Confetti. I was a bit worried the mana might be a bit low, despite it being quite a cheap deck - but we all know how frustrating it is when you can't draw enough mana! I'd forgotten all about Unearth. I've used Zombify in the past, but its a bit expensive at 4 mana. Unearth is perfect because its cheap and all my lords cost 3 I've updated the deck, but it still might be a bit creature heavy. I could probably do away with Soulless One as this deck isn't really about having powerful creatures, or maybe put them on the Sideboard I'm open to suggestions
