Necropolis Regent could be pretty sick in a deck that evades blockers so easily. Satoru Umezawa is excellent for some additional card-advantage whenever you're using Ninjitsu abilities. Though it's a bit pricy to cast, Silent-Blade Oni can also be a lot of fun, as well as bring a heck of a lot of value (depending on the kind of opponent you're facing). I also really like Elbrus, the Binding Blade  Flip and Vorpal Sword in decks featuring ninja's, as these can win you games outright when applied to unblockable creatures.

Deezy829 on Flavor tips?

When i saw the Yoji Shinkawa art for Satoru Umezawa I knew I wanted to build a deck flavored around my favorite fictional ninja, Raiden from the Metal Gear franchise. But im having a hard time coming up with ideas that translate well into what gameplay would make sense for Raiden. Satoru supports go-wide Ninjas by granting all your cards Ninjutsu, but Raiden doesnt fit a go-wide strategy. Any tips?

Thank you KBK7101! Honestly I'm kind of surprised with how popular Isshin became in the past year. He's already in or near the top 10 commanders in EDHREC. A year ago I thought that Satoru Umezawa or Hinata, Dawn-Crowned would have been the most popular commanders from Neon Dynasty.

I try to post updates when I feel they're relevant enough or worth posting lol. I printed out a copy of Otharri to try to play-test in the games I played last weekend, but sadly I didn't get the chance to play it irl then. I did like Skyhunter Strike Force and Mondrak, Glory Dominus when I played them in that game.

In solo play-testing I've mostly liked Otharri so far. I like that it has Haste baked in, so it is a bit speedier for a 5 drop. Although it has the baked in self-recursion, I'm not sure how often that will be relevant or used. If it manages to stick around or come back, then its token production potential will continue to scale up each swing with new Experience counters. I like that Otharri has flying, as I've wanted a little more "verticality" for attacking and defense.

I feel like the 5-drop and 6-drop creature slots are ones I've experimented with the most. I've also tested stuff like Balor, Death Tyrant, Karlach, Fury of Avernus, Ilharg, the Raze-Boar, and Adriana, Captain of the Guard at various points as 5-drop options.

Hey, Satoru Umezawa is spicy tech. Some other tech to consider is Zagras, Thief of Heartbeats? Makes it so with Belakor any Demon who ETB can kill any creature it targets with damage. Belakor + Great Unclean One is a machine gun with Zagras.

How about adding a few lower mana cost Demons with evasion to help to get through for ninjutsu? These can also help to get more Demons on the battlefield quicker for Belakor draw.

Loot, more entomb effects and expanding on reanimation are more ways to get Demons on the battlefield quicker, relying less on ramp.

Emergence Zone is helpful with Liliana's Contract. It's mana before you want it as a flash source. Flash allows Contract to be on the battlefield much less time then not which gives you more chances of winning with Contract.

Good luck with your deck.

If people don't want to help because of rant that's fine but if still want to help despite it great.

As to what im facing I can't remember every deck atm but what I can remeber is 3 Yuriko, the Tiger's Shadow ninja, a Gisela, Blade of Goldnight ramp, A Satoru Umezawa Elderazi Ninjutsu deck, A Sheoldred, the Apocalypse deck, a Gitrog land destruction deck. A Atraxa proliferate deck (of course). And a The Locust God Infinite draw/swarm deck

Tasha's Hidesous Laughter is on the chopping block TBH and will consider the other options thxs for ideas

Unfortunately, the symbols for Cold-Eyed Selkie disqualify it for a Satoru Umezawa EDH deck. Maybe something like Shadowmage Infiltrator, Sea-Dasher Octopus, or Deepfathom Skulker could replace it.

Well, Sol Ring is really the only exception and has a place in every single deck (included in every precon) xD. Things like Mana Crypt is what I am really talking about. The problem with Ancient Brass Dragon is that you don't really want to cheat it in early game, however, it can be great during mid to late game to help you revive your dead BigStuff or dead threats of your opponents. Gyruda, Doom of Depths helps me to build up graveyards and is great if you can cheat in Ink-Eyes, Servant of Oni or Wrexial, the Risen Deep later on to use the milled cards of your opponents. I was unsure about Ancient Silver Dragon, it is acutally an insane effect but cards like Magus of the Wheel could be fearful if you draw 10+ cards every turn or you might even end up with 0 cards in your deck at some point xD. I was really not a fan of its effect but it is still a pretty good option to run in Satoru Umezawa. Thanks for the suggestions, appreciate it!

ABaggins: Thanks for the suggestions! I appreciate the idea, but I don't think that those are the right fit for me in this deck. When the time comes that I build a Satoru Umezawa commander deck, those will be definitely in the list! The cmc of all three is a fantastic thing to top deck with Yuriko's trigger, for sure. However, I think the deck does just fine in that regard currently.

What I want and need to do is get a few better removal spells. There's something else that the deck is missing that I can't quite put my finger on that I would love to figure out...maybe I just don't have the money to pump into some of the cards that would push it into a heavier competitive playstyle...(shrugs) I dunno.

Seriously, though, thanks very much for the suggestions. I'm hoping to keep tweaking this deck. Maybe, eventually, it'll be worthy...
