Rashmi, Eternities Crafter

Legendary Creature — Elf Druid

Whenever you cast your first spell each turn, reveal the top card of your library. If it's a nonland card with converted mana cost/mana value less than that spell's, you may cast it without paying its mana cost. If you don't cast the revealed card, put it into your hand.

SteelSentry on Anyone else play without Commander …

I've seen the argument a lot that Commander damage wins outside of Voltron decks are pretty rare, but I enjoy that if you can rack it up near a kill it forces slower decks to commit to the table or make unfavorable blocks. My Erinis, Gloom Stalker/Agent of the Shadow Thieves deck has never gotten a commander damage kill, but I often end up eating the likes of Blood Artist, Rashmi, Eternities Crafter, etc. more or less for free.

I've certainly been on the recieving end of that dilemma, but it's an interaction that feels integral to the format at this point.

Hello, I also have a chulane deck that is more on the competitive side. May I ask what your budget is looking like? There are many additions you could make for fairly cheap that would greatly improve the deck. Lotus Cobra pairs nicely with Tireless Provisioner for 2 mana per land Panharmonicon can substitute for Cloudstone Curio to allow Shrieking Drake and Village Bell-Ringer to combo off with mana producing creatures. I understand wanting cards like Edric, Spymaster of Trest and Rashmi, Eternities Crafter and while they are not necessarily bad. They lend themselves to a different gameplan than what Chulane is really good at. I would sub these out in favor of more cheap mana dorks maybe even adding in the elf ball staples like Wirewood Symbiote, Quirion Ranger and Priest of Titania for large mana producing creature to untap.

Heres my list if you are looking for less budget friendly upgrades it would be a good place to start. My list is by no means perfect so keep that in mind. https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/chulane-etb-combo/

I've been playing around with Sultai Elves for a while, and this looks like a very solid rendition. As a couple of suggestions, Urborg Elf gets a little more color fixing in, although it's not especially cost-efficient compared to, say, the Hierarchs, and Rashmi, Eternities Crafter is solid by herself, especially with extra turns, and has a very smooth interaction with Momir Vig, Simic Visionary in green-creature-heavy decks.

Hey, good start, still have 25 cards to cut though which is a lot.

Lets start with cutting noncreature spells and then move to cutting creatures? First cuts to consider:

You can afford to cut a couple of the subpar lands for five colors. Ash Barrens is fine if you want to spend one mana to fetch a basic land, but if you have to play it as a land then it could slow down being able to cast Jodah too much. Shamanic Revelation is not good draw here for five mana. You're much more likely to have a higher power creature than the same number of creatures equal or more than the amount of power.

There's 40 creatures here, but if I was building this deck I would play only 20 of them which includes both nonLegendary Elders. Some advice to consider is choose the 20-25 best Legendary creatures and cut the others? Since you're not playing hatebears, what you're looking for with Legends are getting value from other Legends or casting spells from exile. How they support Jodah because he's the best attacking creature when you control other Legends.

Using Legendary creatures you're currently playing here's how I would break down the priority areas from Legends to keep:

Those who draw, ramp or find other Legends.

Those who make Jodah a better attacker.

Those who help for recovery from removal.

Those who are support, but don't fit into the other areas.

In place of two of the lesser Legends consider Legend tutors, Time of Need and Search for Glory?

Some Legends within the budget to consider adding:

Good luck with your deck.

Having a Briarbridge Patrol with a Tamiyo's Journal would indeed increase board presence, not a bad idea, but just not too sure about how that would affect the game speed with having to sacrifice 3 clues constantly, when Mechanized Production hits the field that is the win condition so you kind of want to slow down and stop sacrificing at that point and just protect it as much as possible. Rashmi, Eternities Crafter can kind of do the same thing, but I guess for consistency Briarbridge Patrol is better in that sense

AstroAA, I love the ideas, but I don’t believe Grafdigger's Cage does anything to Narset since her ability exiles the cards before casting them. However, it’s still definitely worth running to shut down any graveyard shenanigans and Rashmi, Eternities Crafter triggers. I don’t know how I missed Meekstone. That is for sure going in. I do like the idea of a preventative approach to winning, and if the games continue too long, the Narset and Rashmi players can Counterspell and Cyclonic Rift their ways to victory, so some stax pieces would help prevent that. I’m kinda leaning towards Zo-Zu the Punisher control/stax or Heartless Hidetsugu group slug. But we’ll see what I end up landing on.

It seems that all the decks that your mates are running are based on cheating things into play or casting things for free. Grafdigger's Cage is an absolute must. One mana to fuck over both Rashmi, Eternities Crafter and Narset, Enlightened Master. Weathered Runestone is also good for this.

Narset, Enlightened Master's cheat is based on her attacking, so prevent her from attacking. Ensnaring Bridge and Meekstone are good for this.

Meanwhile, for Rashmi, Eternities Crafter, the method to tackling her is to tax the ever-loving shit out of her. Thorn of Amethyst, Trinisphere, Sphere of Resistance, etc. Even if they are able to cast spells for free, they still have to pay the tax. Void Mirror is also an excellent option. Note, all of these methods can also stop the Narset deck.

Meanwhile, Yuriko, the Tiger's Shadow is harder to deal with in my opinion since she's putting cards directly into their hand as opposed to having them draw cards. I think the main method of going about stopping them is boardwipes such as Anger of the Gods and Sweltering Suns, as these can help kill the creatures that she hopes to attack with to cheat herself into play for the card advantage. Spot removal such as Lightning Bolt works too.

I’m building a Zada, Hedron Grinderdeck, because I love aggro with all my heart, but the truth of the matter is, it won’t compete with the Narset, Enlightened Master and Rashmi, Eternities Crafter decks at my table. So, I need a few quick wins such as Heat Shimmer and Dualcaster Mage. So, what’re some good ideas for infinite combos in red? Preferably try to keep things pretty budget, but I’m open to ideas.
