Ranger-Captain of Eos

Creature — Human Soldier

When this enters the battlefield, you may search your library for a creature card with converted mana cost/mana value 1 or less, reveal it, put it into your hand, then shuffle your library.

Sacrifice this: Your opponents can't cast noncreature spells this turn.

Bob_Spaghet The secret commander of this deck is Preston, the Vanisher. That bunny enables so many funny shenanigans! I am adding Ranger-Captain of Eos to the maybe board for now as I do not own it. I will likely proxy it for playtesting after I figure out what to remove.

Of course! I have a Preston, the Vanisher deck that does similar things so I have explored this card pool quite a lot. Another card worth a look would be Ranger-Captain of Eos to grab your soul sisters or Mother of Runes and sac later to protect yourself from counterspells.

seems strong, running stax for some control and using jetmir as a buff to win.

given the mana curve, you could manage a bit more with 32-33 lands and run more 1 drop mana guys.

Removal will be helpful, Path to Exile, Swords to Plowshares, Generous Gift, Beast Within, Winds of Abandon, Fateful Absence,

with the creature count, Winota, Joiner of Forces could help give some gas, though you may need to add more humans to make her work better: Adeline, Resplendent Cathar, Myrel, Shield of Argive, Brutal Cathar  Flip, Loyal Apprentice, Sanctum Prelate, Caves of Chaos Adventurer, Seasoned Dungeoneer (I have been loving the initiative creatures), Thalia, Guardian of Thraben, Ranger-Captain of Eos

some X token spells like Finale of Glory, Pest Infestation, Grand Crescendo, White Sun's Twilight, Martial Coup, Awaken the Woods can also help restore your board state

Grubbernaut on What is Wrong With “Generically …

Well...

She's not a win condition; she requires many creatures; she incentivizes lifegain, which is a generically bad strategy; she comes down for 5 mana and does nothing (or little) while requiring multiple turns to be a payoff

When people talk about truly generically good cards (in white), things like Esper Sentinel, Swords to Plowshares, Archivist of Oghma and Ranger-Captain of Eos come to mind. In general, almost any deck with them is made better with no changes or considerations needed for them to function well; that's simply not the case with the Archangel. It requires extra build considerations for a slow payoff that doesn't offer card advantage, doesn't combo, and doesn't kill very quickly.

That's not to say it won't feel at home in a casual deck, but it is not generically good in the way the other cards are.

Ranger-Captain of Eos you have a playset of crucial 1 drops plus you can create a soft lock alongside Celestine.
