Flumph also makes the game a bit more fun

There's also the possibility to use Hold the Gates if you wished to swamp out some basics for some gates

Figured the added card draw with Arcades in play (2 cards) along with being evasive is better than a vanilla 0/6.

Loving the name, 10/10 haha

I built a similar themed deck recently, and one of the cards I've enjoyed the most once stuff is rolling is Sight of the Scalelords.

Also, Wall of Stolen Identity has been a life-saver at times.

I'm a tad confused by the Orator of Ojutai though, doesnt feel like it provides tons of sinergy

Thanks for the suggestions kamarupa!

I did actually consider Orator of Ojutai over Wall of Omens, but I figured the guaranteed extra card was better than having a flyer. However, given how often I tend to have Arcades, the Strategist in play or at least in my hand, it's worth at least adding him into the sideboard. Speaking of sideboards, Slaughter the Strong is definitely going in there too!

I also considered running Eladamri's Call but decided it was a little too expensive to run and I didn't really want to take out anything to replace it with.

I'm still on the fence about whether I want to add Wall of Denial or not. It is a really good card with amazing stats, but I wanted to keep every creature in the deck 2 CMC and under, except for Arcades and Axebane Guardian because of how vital they are to the deck. But maybe I'll add Wall of Denial in the future after some more real world playtesting.

I feel like with both Wall of Blossoms and Wall of Omens, Orator of Ojutai deserves some consideration. Namely, it's got Flying, which is useful evasion the other two don't have. It's considerably less useful in finding an Arcades, but better when building up creatures for a swing.

Your Sideboard doesn't look filled out, so I think Slaughter the Strong is a [cough] strong contender. It's been very effective one-sided removal IME.

Maybe too pricey and not as useful as your current non-creature spells, but I think Eladamri's Call is also a good fit here. The advantage is offers, while not being as broadly useful, is that's it more specifically useful in that it gets the exact creature you need, compared to the gamble of the top X or 5.

Finally, IME, Wall of Denial is a serious threat. Flying, tough, and difficult to remove, opponents are not happy to see it. Not sure it's really needed, but it def makes kills faster with its big toughness.

Hey, good changes so far. Looking nice with a really low avg. CMC.

Some budget defender upgrades to consider.

Orator of Ojutai is another two drop defender who can draw ETB if you control Arcades and it has flying. Sunscape Familiar and Wall of Roots are more defenders who ramp. Shield-Wall Sentinel is a defender tutor. Wall of Stolen Identity is good in multiplayer Commander and it ETB as the creature you choose with defender. Identity and Shield-Wall are some higher mana cost defenders, but their ETB abilities are worth it.

Wall of Junk has been errata to have defender, it can return itself to your hand if it blocks making it bonus good with vigilance. Walking Bulwark and Crashing Drawbridge are low mana cost defenders who can give other creatures you control haste.

Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive makes your defenders unblockable. What makes Tower Defense good here is it gives all creatures you control the instant pump for two mana. Aegis of the Heavens only targets one creature for three mana.

Because Arcades triggers to draw when a defender ETB then blink can be a powerful effect. Blink can also enable an infinite turns combo where attacking Arcades and/or defenders are the wincon.

Eerie Interlude can protect all your creatures from a board wipe since your creatures return to the battlefield at the next end step. If Arcades is exiled along with defenders then when the creatures come back you draw. To price match for a possible cut, Eerie could replace Voidslime? Cutting Voidslime will also clear some budget to add some of the more price defenders I suggested above.

At your end step Soulherder can be repeatable blink of any creature you control. With Arcades blinking a defender is draw, if the blinked defender has an ETB ability it triggers again and gives the defender pseudo vigilance since it will ETB untapped. Blink can also reset Shield Sphere and Wall of Roots.

If your game plan is to attack with defenders thanks to Arcades then how about extra attacks from extra turns? Adding this combo and Eerie Interlude are some reasons to keep Mnemonic Wall.

Cast Aeons and at your end step Soulherder blinks Mnemonic returning Aeons to your hand. On your extra turn cast Aeons and repeat. If you control Arcades then you also draw at your end step, but you only get extra turns equal to the number of cards in your library.
