Myr Moonvessel

Artifact Creature — Myr

When Myr Moonvessel is put into a graveyard from play, add (1) to your mana pool.

This feels like the old Haakon, Stromgald Scourge combo lists that tried to abuse Basal Sliver and Skeletal Changeling.

There are definitely other combo lines that should play nice with this - Ashes of the Fallen would let you combo with Wild Cantor or Myr Moonvessel, Skirk Prospector/Universal Automaton would offer a second combo line for non-bombardment.

Enduring Renewal. I love the card, It is jank. The 'reveal your hand' is a massive drawback. Similarly, Kethis, the Hidden Hand felt close to working for similar but didn't quite.

The mistake is that Myr Moonvessel 's ability is not a mana ability, so it will wait to be put on the stack until after you finish paying the costs for Shrapnel Blast .

605.1b A triggered ability is a mana ability if it meets all of the following criteria: it doesn't require a target (see rule 115.6), it triggers from the resolution of an activated mana ability (see rule 605.1a) or from mana being added to a player's mana pool, and it could add mana to a player's mana pool when it resolves.

Because the trigger condition is Myr Moonvessel dying it doesn't qualify as a mana ability.

So, I'm having trouble to find a definitive answer here:

I want to cast Shrapnel Blast and have a Myr Moonvessel in play, so far so good.

Since I can pay costs in any order (601.2h), I choose to sac the Moonvessel first. It's ability is a mana ability (?) and does not use the stack (?), so I can use to pay for Shrapnel Blast and only need another ... right?

Doesn't feel right somehow tho. Am I mistaken here?

Okay so I'm seeing a lot of people listing Teshar, Ancestor's Apostle, without a combo that gives you infinite cast triggers, so lemme clear this up.

  1. Have teshar and a free sacrifice outlet
  2. Have a card that returns artifacts you your hand when it dies (such as Junk Diver) in the graveyard.
  3. Cast a 0 CMC artifact, such as Ornithopter. Note that if you can hoof the original mana cost, cards like Myr Moonvessel or Cathodion also work.
  4. Teshar triggers on cast and you get back the Junk Diver or similar card to the battlefield.
  5. Sacrifice the 0 CMC FIRST, then sacrifice the Junk Diver.
  6. The diver will return your 0 drop to you hand. Now you man recast the 0 drop again, which will reset you to step 3. This will give you infinite ETB's, death triggers, and casts.

It seems like your Thopter Foundry, Salvage Titan, and your other artifacts clash. The artifacts you have require sacrificed to be used. So you could be in a game waiting to sacrifice them until you get a Thopter Foundry or Salvage Titan that may or may not come. Or the opposite happens where you sacrifice your artifacts for their effects and then you can't take advantage of the 2 cards your really want out. I would look getting out artifacts like equipments or maybe some cheap Myrs.

Look into Myr Propagator, Alloy Myr, Gold Myr, Hovermyr, Leaden Myr, Myr Battlesphere, Myr Moonvessel, Myr Retriever, Myr Sire, Myr Turbine, and Palladium Myr. These all serve as a quick creatrue to get out, supply more mana for the big creatrues, or even supply you with plenty of endless artifacts for Thopter Foundry and Salvage Titan.
