Mox Tantalite

Artifact

Suspend 3— (Rather than cast this card from your hand, pay and exile it with three time counters on it. At the beginning of your upkeep, remove a time counter. when the last is removed, cast it without paying its mana cost.)

: Add one mana of any colour.

Unlife hello there , thank you for your comment. I'll add the first to counterspells that you suggested , you're right.

What kind of mana rocks do you think i should add? Im quite on a budget , at least for now , so i dont want to spend 800 euro worth of cards to be honest ahhaha would Mox Tantalite and Sol Talisman be viable budget choices or are still to slow even for commander?

Dimir Signet, Mind Stone, Prismatic Lens, Arcane Signet, Charcoal Diamond, Coldsteel Heart, Corrupted Grafstone, Ebony Fly, Fellwar Stone, Fractured Powerstone, Guardian Idol, Liquimetal Torque, Obsidian Obelisk, Sky Diamond, Star Compass, Talisman of Dominance, Thought Vessel - Those are the viable 2 cmc mana rocks (Everflowing Chalice could also be played for 2 mana, but also scales more into the later stages due to Multikicker) Moonsnare Prototype and Springleaf Drum are 1 cmc but require a creature/artifact which you could tap to produce 1 mana. Sol Talisman and Mox Tantalite are also relative cheap in price.

For Land ramp, there arent that many options in Dimir, but here are the ones I would consider - Lantern of Revealing: 3 cmc Rock, that can ramp later Wayfarer's Bauble: The classic Dreamscape Artist: 2 CMC creature, that turns each card in your hand into Harrow Druidic Satchel: Not guarantees a land but not completely without value Navigation Orb: Bauble but slower Myriad Landscape: Land that fetches 2 Lands

Revel in Riches as an enchantment as is Black Market but that is kinda slow and comes relatively late Those are my suggestions for Ramp. Hope you find them helpful and GL with the deck :)

Removing Mox Tantalite completely makes you entirely dependent on Springleaf Drum for colored mana, so I don't know if going up on Moonsnare Prototype is a good idea in that situation since they will be uncastable without a Drum.

I do think you need to up your counts of Memnite and Ornithopter to get more consistent use out of the Drums, and maybe consider Paradise Mantle as another option (it's slightly worse than Drum since it doesn't get around summoning sickness, but it's something). You might also want to think about Chromatic Star, even though it's just a one-time use. How much do you really need Scale of Chiss-Goria/Tooth of Chiss-Goria?

A nonzero number of Mox Tantalite might still be the right approach, but I feel like they get worse for you as the numbers go down since it's less likely for them to end up in your opening hand.

Rhadamanthus damn! That's so unfortunate for me. I appreciate the heads up. How can we offset this issue, because I see an opportunity to:

-remove Mox Tantalite

-replace the open spots with Moonsnare Prototype and Springleaf Drum.

FYI Urza's Saga can't fetch Mox Tantalite. There's a reason it's written to specifically say "mana cost or " and not "mana value 1 or less". It can't be used to search for something with no mana cost at all.

Still, +1 for concept.

Glad you enjoy seeing the decks I make. I will answer your questions and give some insight into my decision making. First, I considered Expedition Map a long time ago and decided to go with more normal tutor cards such as Demonic Tutor etc. The map only grabs a land so it is limited in use. Mindslaver is one of those cards that can definitely cause all kinds of chaos but I chose to go for a faster win condition and less of cards like this. It takes too long to set up and get going. Lethal Vapors isn't a card I would run honestly. I would prefer a card like Spreading Plague or The Abyss instead. I chose exile as my main removal in this deck. Doing so counters graveyard strategies somewhat and indestructible. As for Static Orb and Winter Orb, these also interfere with my own win conditions. I'm trying to cast Approach of the Second Sun as fast as possible. This deck is very much control based and not really built to be a stax deck. Lastly, I've been asked before about why I don't run Yawgmoth's Will. I just don't think this particular deck is built to get value from it. It's an amazing card but I just didn't build this deck to support using such a card. Honestly, it would be more of a filler card for me.

Now, for the next set of questions. You are correct when you say that someone can still play one creature with Ward of Bones in play. The idea is to stop people from flooding the board with more than one. It is just a card to stall my opponents until I can draw or tutor my win conditions. This is the same reason why I use Portcullis. It keeps more than two creatures from being on the battlefield. Any creatures played on the battlefield beyond two get exiled until Portcullis leaves the battlefield. Again, I'm just slowing down and stalling my opponents so I can tutor or draw my win conditions. I feel that any creatureless deck should always run Portcullis. The value is just too insane. Energy Field is a card that I use to stall as well. It may last a couple of turns and that may be just enough to survive and tutor/cast my win condition. Null Brooch is such a fantastic card. A colorless artifact ability that just counters a non-creature spell is insane. It also combos crazy good with Ensnaring Bridge so that no creatures can attack because you have zero cards in hand. Witchbane Orb is just nice to have. It prevents a lot of bad things targeting you. It comes in handy more than you realize. You can't die to Grapeshot or other things with it in play. Norn's Annex forces people into a bad decision. They either pay white mana, lose life, or they can't attack you at all. Also, because of the Phyrexian Mana cost, you can play this fast to get value out of it quicker. Remember, if you make someone lose at least 8-10 life just to attack you, they are more vulnerable to other players killing them. The only other card I would put in place of this is No Mercy. Lastly, Mox Tantalite and Lotus Bloom are great for this deck. If I play them early enough, they allow me to cast Approach of the Second Sun very fast. Also, both suspend cards synergize with Tolaria West. Since the cards have a mana value of zero, you can use transmute from Tolaria West to search for them. I hope that shows you some of my reasoning and decision making. If you need to know anything further, feel free to ask.

Poolplayer on Fun with Nacatl

Updating to Alpine Meadow was a great call for Wild Nacatl being 3/3 on turn 2 with the right draw and came up quite a bit and with a forest in play ambusher surprised haste goblins on return attacks. I tried putting a plains and mountain alone but the cursed draws would give me those and no forests to power the deck from behind. Evolving Wilds is the cheap way to thin the deck and either Sol Talisman or Mox Tantalite work well by turn 3 to get an advantage without tapping out for artifacts of the same power. I was trying Gift of the Gargantuan but the rate of not drawing land wasn't working well and being stuffed with creatures I couldn't afford to play wasn't working as well as Kodama's Reach.

Anyways, a fun deck. Comments are welcome!!

legendofa on Yorion & Meathook Massacre banned

Delve has three bans out of 27, but Dig Through Time and Treasure Cruise both have bans in multiple formats.

Of the ten black-bordered Moxen, only Mox Amber, Mox Diamond, and Mox Tantalite aren't banned anywhere. This group includes five of the Power Nine. Is "cheap artifact mana" a mechanic?
