Lotus Bloom

Artifact

Suspend 3— (Rather than cast this card from your hand, pay and exile it with three time counters on it. At the beginning of your upkeep, remove a time counter. When the last is removed, cast it without paying its mana cost.)

, Sacrifice Lotus Bloom: Add three mana of any one colour.

Here are some cards you might be interested in:

Experimental Synthesizer - this one is extra spicy, since it basically triggers twice, but suffers from the fact that it needs a sac outlet unless you wanna pay 3 extra mana.

Chromatic Star Chromatic Sphere - very similar to terrarion

Implement of Combustion

Conjurer's Bauble Mishra's Bauble

Also, since your deck is full of artifacts anyway, Galvanic Blast is a Lightning Bolt on steroids, you could put some at least in your sideboard if you ever feel like you need the interaction.

Another interesting card could be Lotus Bloom, maybe even as a 1-of to pair with Goblin Engineer.

So many possibilities - Happy brewing!

Yes, this will work. "Mana value" is the current terminology for what was previously called "converted mana cost" and they mean the same thing. Cards with no mana cost have a mana value of 0.

Note that this is different from an effect that specifies a "mana cost" of . For example, you can't use Urza's Saga to search for Lotus Bloom.

jamochawoke hey thank you :)

And I’m still trying to figure that out lol. Ideally, as of now, having the mana to go off with Goblin Charbelcher by turn 3-4 would be nice haha. With the lucky draw of Lotus Bloom and enough creatures and Paradise Mantle’s or modal cards for land would allow for that. Salvage Titan with a good build towards a mid to late game charbelcher would be acceptable too.

But honestly this was just theory crafted this morning based on an all in Salvage Titan build I made a while ago. I’ve been trying to make it a bit more resilient and less one dimensional. So right now it feels like a bit of a mash up.

So yeah I gotta proxy it up and test it out a bit and I can let ya know a bit better what my ideal draws would be and what is less ideal and how I’d handle it. Right now though. It’s all dreams! Lmao.

12 lands feels insanely low - especially as 4 of them are useless unless you already have 2 other lands in play.

I don’t see how you’re ever realistically getting more than 1 land in a game (you only have 23% odds of starting with 2 playable lands in hand), and i don’t see how you’re realistically resolving any of your mana rocks without the mana to cast them (yes you have Lotus Bloom but that mana isn’t available until turn 4, and is one-off).

I think you also need to drastically lower your mana curve (you have 14-16 cards costing 4-or-more mana when decks typically can’t justify more than 4).

jdogz32 Lotus Bloom is too slow it needs 3 round to enter the battlefield and doesnt count towards affinity until then. Also Not of this World is protecting only oe of my creatures and i think i want to cut it anyways.

So sadly both dont do much.

Lotus Bloom might be a nice add along with Not of this World not to sure about this one though as it can't protect much.

Some thoughts:

  • 16 lands is waaaay too low, even factoring in Manaweft Sliver, Aether Vial, and Lotus Bloom. As a reference, Burn decks run 19 lands and only run 1-2 mana spells... but importantly can function on having only 1 land for several turns (and this often happens in their games). You need to go to at least 20, probably 22 lands, to have any chance of functioning.

  • Gemstone Caverns is a card that is only really useful in combo decks that can't afford to wait until turn 2. Choosing to go second in an aggro creature-based deck is a recipe for disaster, but furthermore it makes the Caverns only any good if its in your opening hand - and useless in most other situations. This is particularly scary because you're a 5 colour deck. I'd say to ditch the Caverns for something more reliable.

  • If you're running any number of Aether Vial, then you should always be running the full playset (4-of).

  • Your sideboard just looks like extra cards that couldn't make the main - and additionally quite a few have too-high mana-costs to ever reliably get cast. I would suggest changing your sideboard to better accommodate for your bad matchups, instead of it just being a bunch of random Slivers.

Glad you enjoy seeing the decks I make. I will answer your questions and give some insight into my decision making. First, I considered Expedition Map a long time ago and decided to go with more normal tutor cards such as Demonic Tutor etc. The map only grabs a land so it is limited in use. Mindslaver is one of those cards that can definitely cause all kinds of chaos but I chose to go for a faster win condition and less of cards like this. It takes too long to set up and get going. Lethal Vapors isn't a card I would run honestly. I would prefer a card like Spreading Plague or The Abyss instead. I chose exile as my main removal in this deck. Doing so counters graveyard strategies somewhat and indestructible. As for Static Orb and Winter Orb, these also interfere with my own win conditions. I'm trying to cast Approach of the Second Sun as fast as possible. This deck is very much control based and not really built to be a stax deck. Lastly, I've been asked before about why I don't run Yawgmoth's Will. I just don't think this particular deck is built to get value from it. It's an amazing card but I just didn't build this deck to support using such a card. Honestly, it would be more of a filler card for me.

Now, for the next set of questions. You are correct when you say that someone can still play one creature with Ward of Bones in play. The idea is to stop people from flooding the board with more than one. It is just a card to stall my opponents until I can draw or tutor my win conditions. This is the same reason why I use Portcullis. It keeps more than two creatures from being on the battlefield. Any creatures played on the battlefield beyond two get exiled until Portcullis leaves the battlefield. Again, I'm just slowing down and stalling my opponents so I can tutor or draw my win conditions. I feel that any creatureless deck should always run Portcullis. The value is just too insane. Energy Field is a card that I use to stall as well. It may last a couple of turns and that may be just enough to survive and tutor/cast my win condition. Null Brooch is such a fantastic card. A colorless artifact ability that just counters a non-creature spell is insane. It also combos crazy good with Ensnaring Bridge so that no creatures can attack because you have zero cards in hand. Witchbane Orb is just nice to have. It prevents a lot of bad things targeting you. It comes in handy more than you realize. You can't die to Grapeshot or other things with it in play. Norn's Annex forces people into a bad decision. They either pay white mana, lose life, or they can't attack you at all. Also, because of the Phyrexian Mana cost, you can play this fast to get value out of it quicker. Remember, if you make someone lose at least 8-10 life just to attack you, they are more vulnerable to other players killing them. The only other card I would put in place of this is No Mercy. Lastly, Mox Tantalite and Lotus Bloom are great for this deck. If I play them early enough, they allow me to cast Approach of the Second Sun very fast. Also, both suspend cards synergize with Tolaria West. Since the cards have a mana value of zero, you can use transmute from Tolaria West to search for them. I hope that shows you some of my reasoning and decision making. If you need to know anything further, feel free to ask.
