DemonDragonJ on How Can I Put Ziatora, …

I wish to put Ziatora, the Incinerator into my Kresh the Bloodbraided EDH deck, but I am not certain what card I should remove to make room for her.

The most logical choice is Darigaaz, the Igniter, because he does not contribute to the main theme of the deck and simply has been outclassed, but I was also considering replacing Dread, due to its heavily monocolroed casting cost, or The Immortal Sun, since recent comments from other users have inspired me to rethink me decision to include that card in every EDH deck that I make.

What does everyone else say about this subject? Which card should I remove to put Ziatora, the Incinerator into this deck?

DemonDragonJ on Does this Deck Have Sufficient …

I am contemplating putting Korvold, Fae-Cursed King into my Kresh the Bloodbraided EDH deck, but I am not certain if that deck has a sufficient amount of token generation or reanimation to continually provide me with permanents to sacrifice to Korvold's ability, so what does everyone else say about this? Can that deck sustain feeding Korvold with permanents?

I learned with Ball Lightning Tribal you run out of gas and blockers very quick and changing the commander to a clunky Sek'kuar is not an option. I see you already got Feldon in there - another good option to have a blocker in instant speed is MImic Vat. If you decide to add it - switch out your Grim Haruspex for a Morbid Opportunist to keep the card draw flowing. There's also Golgari Germination and Blight Mound which are harder to remove than your usual Pawn of Ulamog. I see you are missing Kresh the Bloodbraided and also a very good wincon in every Oreo deck which is Chandra's Ignition. All hail to the great Mr. Oreo!

saluma I like Tiamat, it is 100% a DnD BBEG and dragons are big and nasty.

KBK7101 I like The Tarrasque, but it does feel kinda meh, similar to Ghalta who's very strong, but just doesn't feel as 'world-ending'. I'd forgotten the gods though, maybe some sort of aristocrats-animator thing. The captain is fun, but he has the more 'hit and run' thing going for him as a pirate.

DreadKhan I've played with Kresh the Bloodbraided before, he can be fun but he can also feel a bit clunky which was why I;d dropped him previously. Sauron, the Dark Lord has that traditional world ending feel, and his ward cost means he dodges most removal. I'd forgotten goad was a thing, it brings me back to Queen Marchesa, a more political goaded build to manipulate other decks. In terms of the decks competing against one another, I think they're fairly balanced at the moment, but they're also still being tuned and adjusted.

legendofa Well, gonna start with a massive thank you first, that's a wicked great breakdown. With this massive list, maybe I'll add a second in command deck along with the BBEG one....

I'm not worried about it being directly connected to the forgotten realms, just kinda having a DnD class/BBEG 'vibe' for lack of a better word (I mean, my paladin deck design is knight tribal helmed by Syr Cadian, Knight Owl) Among that massive list, Konda, Lord of Eiganjo, Progenitus, Uro, Titan of Nature's Wrath, Umbris, Fear Manifest, Momir Vig, Simic Visionary, and Malfegor all stand out. Your dimir list also reminded me of Runo Stromkirk  Flip as a big monster summoner.

TypicalTimmy Dihada is an interesting choice, maybe a deck full of brainwashed missing adventurers. A lot of these suggestions keep leading me back to mardu, so I may take a deeper dive there.

Either way, this has been massively helpful. Course, now I have the opposite problem, so many choices to narrow down.

I feel like you could also look into running a lot of wipes, stax or other salt inducing things, such that the deck will naturally end up the archenemy and everyone will unite against them. Do the other decks compete with one another? If so, something that does Goad or Goad-like effects would be cool. TBH, if I had to pick a commander to try out as an Archenemy type deck, I'd be very tempted to go with Kresh the Bloodbraided. 5 mana for a 3/3 isn't very spicy, but he quickly can get very, very out of hand, it's not unusual for you to do something like Mandate of Abaddon or Phyrexian Scriptures and then one shot people one at a time with your gigantic Kresh. Lots of cards synergize with Kresh, ranging from Grim Feast and anything that works with/is Rite of the Raging Storm. Big Goad effects like Disrupt Decorum and Spectacular Showdown also add a nasty surprise, and Insurrection is a great turn-around-is-fair-play type effect for an Archenemy. You can even make the deck on the cheap using stuff like Fleshbag Marauder (there are a bajillion at this point, especially if you'll pay 4 for a 4 power one), these generate a lot of power if you also have Savra, Queen of the Golgari (or something similar) out. Pestilence and similar effects are very good in here, they let you both clear out weenie blockers while also pumping Kresh ever bigger by winnowing away the chaff. Kresh will quickly crush everyone, you just need to add fun stuff like evasion or trample to make his immense power count. If you build this right it should be quite scary to play against, and the odd Fling can be a nice way to punish the players for killing Kresh.

Another great option might be Sauron, the Dark Lord, the more the party does the bigger the 'threat' gets, and it's almost impossible to remove Sauron. It's easy to sneak in some powerful Changelings to work as a better base army, but the whole 'orc army' thing is in and of itself very stereotypical in D&D. I like Grixis because you get Blue, meaning you have access to the odd counter. In particular I'd look into stuff like Stronghold Machinist, effect-on-a-stick creatures are good for an Archenemy because they tend to soak up the opponent's cards, even something like Royal Assassin is card advantage over time. Since the Army can get pretty big you can use Voltron stuff with it, and if you use Anthems (Berserkers' Onslaught, Dauthi Embrace, and Whip of Erebos come to mind) they'll work on both the Army and Sauron, which is cool Big Bad energy for the deck.

Edicts! Mass Edicts! Fleshbag Marauder, Merciless Executioner, Demon's Disciple, Plaguecrafter & Gravelighter are all nuts in this build. I wouldn't recommend ones that cost more than 3, though. Soul Shatter, Vona's Hunger, Liliana's Triumph & Sheoldred's Edict do the same thing at Instant speed, with the tradeoff being less Counters on Kresh the Bloodbraided, as those are not Creature Spells.

Those cheap, 3-drop Elemental stompers are solid as well, like Ball Lightning & Lightning Skelemental.

I'd also recommend literally as many Dorks as possible, as they also pump Kresh when they die, they're utility at both the floor and the ceiling of your deck is undeniable.

Pestilence & Pyrohemia are also worth it for this Commander for the same reason mass Edicts are worth it: controlling the board and pumping your Commander at the same time is just a great thing to do.

More card draw couldn't hurt either, maybe a Beast Whisperer & a Dark Tutelage or something.

Cheers!

Hi Edgardxcore, thanks for reaching out and asking for my opinion, it's appreciated. You've chosen a nice first Jund commander in Henzie, the blitz ability is an amazing perk in a creature-heavy army.

To be honest, I'm not sure I would recommend finishers for your deck, but one that does come to mind and could become quite the powerhouse in a blitz-deck, would be Kresh the Bloodbraided as she grows so powerful with each successful blitz you do. Can't be summoned with blitz though, as you want to keep her alive.

Anyways, I've found Jund's strengths rely more on wearing opponents down through resilience; lots of recursion and forced saccing. Two creatures that enable these and immediately come to my mind for a Henzie deck, would be Mikaeus, the Unhallowed (who will basically let non-human creatures you just blitzed return unharmed (and stronger!)) and Butcher of Malakir (who forces all your opponents to sac when you blitz something).

These are just some initial thoughts. Let me know if you have more questions or you're looking for additional options.

I've had this super-clunky Kresh the Bloodbraided 60-card casual a long time ago before I even knew EDH existed. It basically was the 60-card version of a Kresh EDH deck, and in one game, I just went to magical christmas land where every single card lined up perfectly. This was just awesome.
