Kor Cartographer

Creature — Kor Scout

When Kor Cartographer enters the battlefield, you may search your library for a Plains card, put it onto the battlefield tapped, then shuffle your library.

Hello fellow Wyleth, Soul of Card Draw player!

I'm glad you got both Wyleth's and Aesi's precons for a good price. They are reeeeally explosive in gameplay with a few upgrades.

I play a lot of this bad boy, and I want to suggest some swaps below 3 USD for you to take it to a higher ground:

First of all, the ramp. I found out that 2 CMC, untapped ramp is the best for Wyleth. Since he draws so many cards, he can chain rocks and voltron pieces in the same turn, so his next turn is even more explosive than the last one. I almost always have more mana than the Green decks in my pod.

You should run boardwipes that hits your stuff the least:

Also, you can streamline your removal package. All of those are fetchable by Sunforger:

More/better auras and equipment

Cheating equip costs

If you really need to protect yourself against attacks, Ghostly Prison is a way better Palace Guard.

More utility lands

Beebles I would agree that I think you are right about ramp in white. It is indeed the second best ramp color after green, and has always had access to cards like Kor Cartographer that ramp in a traditional way and land fetches that keep you from missing your drops like Land Tax. That being said, green is way, way ahead of the rest of the world due to the social contract where land destruction is bad but mana rock destruction is fine, but white certainly isn't and has never been any worse than any other mono-color besides green.

Card draw has been atrocious however. It's made a lot od progress in recent years due to Ari Nieh taking over for white on the council of colors from the previous holder and with Mark Rosewater repenting of his wrong views on white card draw. Previously they thought that a great example of white card draw was God-Eternal Oketra, because, you know, a zombie token is basically a card. I'm not joking about this, watch The Professor's interview with Ari Nieh on Tolarian Community College, that actually what Maro and the guild thought. Of course, we know that in commander tokens aren't even close to cards. It was an example of sixty-card magic driven thinking ruining a color's performance in commander. Thankfully welcoming cards like Welcoming Vampire are moving us forward, and hopefully we'll see more like this in the coming years!

You can't tell me what to do! Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle is pretty awesome with them ;)

Any basic land type fetch effects are obviously great (Wood Elves, Kor Cartographer). Splendid Reclamation is generally great with cycling lands. A cycling cost of 3 is obviously cool with Zirda, the Dawnwaker. Bounce lands such as Boros Garrison work fine for the convenient late-game cycling.

Finally, I really like my Zagoth Triome in Archelos, Lagoon Mystic

For ramp, have you considered any combination of Ambitious Farmhand  Flip, Environmental Sciences, Kor Cartographer and The Birth of Meletis if you need a way to to get lands onto the battlefield faster there's also Walking Atlas

Puresteel Paladin is also an option for you. Not only can you get some extra card draw, but once you have 3 artifacts on the battlefield, equipping Balan will be free. Though Maul of the Skyclaves can enter the battlefield equipped to a creature.

If you have cash to spare, don't forget Shadowspear.

Also, since you have a lot of artifacts, Have you considered Inspiring Statuary, Introduction to Annihilation and Scour from Existence as a means to protect yourself from the Karn, the Great Creator/Mycosynth Lattice Combo? If nothing else, Inspiring Statuary will at least help make your nonartifact spells cost less.

Other artifact lands to put in your deck are Ancient Den and Treasure Vault

Thank you for reading me out. I hope this helps. Happy Hunting!

sergiodelrio I made some adjustments to the land base using your suggestions and I also dropped in Kor Cartographer in place of Environmental Sciences, just to have some more creatures, and I dropped my 1 copy of Emeria Shepherd since I have 2 Emeria, The Sky Ruin already. I replaced it with Admonition Angel. You seem pretty knowledgeable in Modern, so let me know what you think. I’m fairly new to deck building from scratch so all pointers are appreciated!

TerraBlaze I personally love running Dockside Extortionist, Kor Cartographer and Solemn Simulacrum with cards like Twinflame, Cloudshift, Ephemerate, and Eerie Interlude. To a lesser extent Graceful Reprieve. If you are doing something like this as a package of protection spells as well as additional targets then the idea of putting the recruiters in work pretty well.

Hey there! Finally getting around to this. Sorry it took me an extra day.

So I’m mostly a red player at heart but I should have some ideas for you and it’s entirely possible you’ve thought of them before.

I always like to suggest Settle the Wreckage in creature-focused white decks for two reasons: 1) at a minimum it’s a board wipe that exiles opponent’s attackers and 2) at its max it can be a gnarly tool for ramp on yourself (not as ideal on non-token creatures but it’s still a novel idea). The other recent white wipe I rather like is Winds of Abandon . Yes, it ramps you opponents up but more than likely would be used late game. Also, if used you can think about adding in white ramp spells like Kor Cartographer and Cartographer's Hawk that need opponents to have more lands than you to hit those ramps. Seems conditional but that’s how ramp works in white. Again, even excluding those latter cards both wipes are very good to include IMO.

Another creature-focused card that could work here is Sneak Attack . Cost effective and still triggers Bruce’s ETB. Reconnaissance provides your creatures protection and untaps them if you’re in a tight spot.

Combat focused cards like Combat Celebrant , Seize the Day , Savage Beating , Relentless Assault seem more than ideal here since you want to keep attacking to trigger Bruce.

Cards like Chance for Glory and Final Fortune are personal favorites of mine (because I’m a reckless RED player, haha) that give you a quick second upkeep for Ravos, Soultender to trigger again (also one last chance to attack with Bruce).

I think Berserkers' Onslaught could come out for Avatar of Slaughter only because it gives you another creature. Bedlam or Goblin War Drums seem like great adds to a high-octane offensive deck like this too!

I hope these suggestions don’t discourage you. This deck looks awesome, and I’m not saying it would play better with these cards but that it would be the direction I’d personally take it. Overall, the deck looks incredibly balanced with your quantities of sorceries/instants/artifacts/planeswalkers/etc. My only other suggestion at the moment would be to maybe go down 1-2 lands, as it opens another two slots for you. I typically run 34 in most of my decks and everything runs great.

Great brew!
