Edit: Oops I must have missed your not wanting these when reading your description

I like to use what I call 'Mass Minus' cards in my Grismold deck so the tokens die immediately

Dangerwillrobinson79, Grismold decks are usually low-curve (2-5 mana), so Avenger of Zendikar might land too late to be relevant. Also, the original Scute Swarm is dead most of the time if the deck is running properly (Kaervek, the Spiteful, Night of Souls' Betrayal), so it is a non-bo here.

I've been surprised by Kaervek, the Spiteful lately in pioneer. There are enough X/1s that the card by itself is brutal, but the mono black devotion shell I've built around it takes it over the top.

Thanks for the suggestions, out of all those I think only Death Tyrant and Kaervek, the Spiteful would really make the list, since everything really wants that instant utility in this deck.

If you have other suggestions, let me know what your logic would be for cuts in the deck already, as the main gameplan of the deck is to ramp while playing tons of spot removal to stay ahead and then drop fat removal bomb demons and swing sideways for the kill.

Toxrill with Night of Souls' Betrayal and Kaervek, the Spiteful is pretty dope. Add in Fleshbag Marauder and friends, Revel in Riches, maybe even Inexorable Tide and other proliferate effects. You could even include Overseer of the Damned, Quest for the Gravelord and more zombie stuff. And just imagine Skullclamp and Grave Pact/Butcher of Malakir with the activated ability. As I said, I like where this is going.

Oh, btw: I build a hypothetical 60-card casual Frog tribal list around Grolnok. In case anyone is interested, here you go: Ancestral Ribbit (UG Frog Tribal)

Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons says the ability triggers when a -1/-1 counter is put on a creature. Does that mean that cards like Cower in Fear or Kaervek, the Spiteful do not trigger Hapatra?

I don't know about this deck honestly. Your trying to be kind to opponents but playing stax? Seems kind of counter productive to me. Stax is like the opposite of being friendly to the other people, so I am just not sure how well this strategy will work. Cards to take out: Mind Stone , Fate Unraveler , Garrulous Sycophant , Kaervek, the Spiteful , Austere Command , Ob Nixilis, the Hate-Twisted , Gang Up . I know that isn't 20 cards, but that is a start. Try to take out cards that do not do what your deck is trying to do. Hope that helps.
