Jeleva, Nephalia's Scourge

Legendary Creature — Vampire Wizard

Flying

When Jeleva, Nephalia's Scourge enters the battlefield, each player exiles the top X cards from his or her library, where X is the amount of mana spent to cast Jeleva.

Whenever Jeleva attacks, you may cast an instant or sorcery card exiled with it without paying its mana cost.

BrickMaster28 on How do collection counters with …

Say casting Evelyn, the Covetous results in Path to Exile and Otherworldly Gaze being exiled, each with a collection counter as stated by Evelyn, then an opponent destroys her to make her leave the battlefield. If I cast Evelyn again onto the battlefield then would I still be able to cast Path to Exile or Otherworldly Gaze since they are "a card from exile with a collection counter on it" and "exiled by an ability I controlled", or would they not be legal to cast? I would assume that since the exiled cards will always have a collection counter on them and be in exile then they shouldn't be "lost" if Evelyn leaves the battlefield and re-enters.

In another situation, say I have Evelyn, the Covetous already on the battlefield and I cast Jeleva, Nephalia's Scourge. Which "enters the battlefield" effect resolves first - i.e. do I exile the cards with a collection counter for Evelyn first, or do I exile cards for Jeleva first? I would assume Jeleva first, but I am not certain.

Thank you in advance!

BrickMaster28 on Suspend with Jeleva

I am trying to construct a deck with Jeleva, Nephalia's Scourge as my commander. I want to implement the cards Inevitable Betrayal and Blue Sun's Twilight, but I am not sure how the keyword "Suspend" and X mana cost work if either card is exiled with Jeleva. Could someone help me determine how these spells would resolve in a game?

A creature that's really good at allowing you to steal other people's stuff would be Jeleva, Nephalia's Scourge.

I haven't been able to piece together the deck yet, as shown in the list, but I made a deck that is similar in concept based on the commander Inalla, Archmage Ritualist (Oh, and I played once using Jeleva, Nephalia's Scourge as the commander). In that deck, the creatures were mostly shapeshifter/clones with Wizards, and I had extra forms of counterspells added in.

I played it a few times, and it was fun. I was certainly was able to copy/clone a lot, as well as steal creatures (especially commanders) and use them against my opponents. The main drawback is that it's slow and I think possibly upping the land count to 40 may be a good idea. The reason is that in the beginning you really aren't doing anything because there isn't much to clone, copy, steal, or even really counter, so you're really just playing land. If you miss a land, you'll have 8 cards in your hand and have to discard, which is no bueno. And, you want access to land as many turns in a row as possible so you can maximize your options when spells start flinging, and you want to have extra out and untapped for counters anyhow, so having more land to draw solves all the problems. Extra land cards in the late game can be used for our spells that require us to discard, such as Faithless Looting.

I didn't win any games, but I had a lot of fun. I often win a lot of games playing with my friends, even when I really try to tone down my decks in power level, so having a deck I can pull out and do fun stuff and just torment them, without becoming the archenemy or becoming too powerful to actually win is really nice ... I get to try to do interesting things and kind of control the table, without being an actual threat to win, and somebody else at the table gets to win instead of me.

That all said, I do want to keep perfecting the deck and collecting cards for the original list in this deck and accomplish some personal achievements, lol.

Thank you for your interest and the upvote! =)

I would look at removing Temple of the False God in place for something like Castle Vantress for a couple reasons. Temple is a rough draw early game as it take a several turn to be online and it doesn’t provide colored mana on top of that. I can see the argument that it helps pay Jeleva, Nephalia's Scourge commander tax but I think a repeatable scry effect from the castle would be more beneficial to make sure you hit the spells you want when she ETB’s.

Housegheist I just found my defunct Jeleva, Nephalia's Scourge deck and took the Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth from it. Thanks for the suggestion!

Might be worth adding Jeleva, Nephalia's Scourge steals some good pieces and is a vampire in addition!

Fun deck though man!
