Ixidron

Creature — Illusion

As Ixidron enters the battlefield, turn all other nontoken creatures face down. (They're 2/2 creatures.)

Ixidron's power and toughness are each equal to the number of face-down creatures on the battlefield.

Tried playtesting this against my Minn, Wily Illusionist EDH deck. On turn 6 or 7, I gained control of Karona, False God, attacked, then played Ixidron, effectively trapping your commander on my board. Another card in my deck would effectively do the same thing: In Too Deep. It was a bit of a slow drawn out process from there, but you may need something to destroy your commander if it gets trapped like this. Also saw after that this is meant to be a political deck, but.. just some notes.

Something like Shiny Impetus, Psychic Impetus, or Parasitic Impetus may help in situations like this, where it gets turned face down.

Following up on a question from a few days ago, what happens if you control a face-down creature that doesn't have morph or a variant, and your Deceiver of Form's trigger goes off? I reveal a Scornful Egotist off Deceiver's trigger.

According to the answer in the other thread, if I control an Akroma, Angel of Fury I've cast as a morph creature, I can flip it face-up for U at which point it'll be a face-up Scornful Egotist until end of turn.

If I control a Yargle, Glutton of Urborg that was turned face-down with an Ixidron, can I spend U to turn the Yargle face-up?

And if so... what happens if I've used a Magar of the Magic Strings to reanimate a sorcery spell as a face-down creature? Can I pay U to turn it face-up as a copy of the Egotist until end of turn? Or do the rules that prevent instants and sorceries entering the battlefield prevent you from turning the card face-up even when it's a copy of a creature card?

She was my first commander. Consider Caged Sun, Kederekt Leviathan, Sphinx of the Second Sun and a Paradox Haze on a stick, Ixidron, Clever Impersonator and Whelming Wave. Have fun!

Hi :) I have a similar deck ( Aminatou ) and lately I've been adding/removing some cards using your deck as inspiration.

I'm having a really hard time finding a reason to cut Ixidron, though, and I'm curious about your thoughts. It's similar to a board wipe, but you can blink all your creatures back.

I also run other mana-heavy cards like Diluvian Primordial and Sepulchral Primordial, both of which I'm on the fence about since they can be bricky, but I'm having trouble letting go of.

Awesome deck, btw!

ObserverWill Actually, Stormtide was a creature I ran in this deck for a long time. He eventually got cut for some more flavorfully interesting (to me) creatures, but if I was on the lookout for another big, blue beater, he would definitely make the short list. (In fact, now that I'm thinking about Stormtide again, maybe I'll be able to squeeze him in somewhere...)

Now, Ixidron is definitely interesting to me. It would make playing the long game more dynamic, as you can just nullify all your opponents' best creatures when you're finally ready to start the beatdown. I'll definitely consider it! Good thoughts!

I really love the flavor of your deck. Mimeoplasm is one of my favorite creatures and I want to build something similar to yours. I had a couple of thoughts of stuff that might mesh well.

Stormtide Leviathan seems like it would be good as a main body.

Ixidron is something I’ve been thinking about trying. I like the idea of turning mimeoplasm into that to neuter the opponents creatures, at least temporarily.
