Harnfel, Horn of Bounty

Legendary Artifact

Discard a card: Exile the top two cards of your library. You may play those cards this turn.

Polaris on Can I stack Oversold Cemetery …

No, because the trigger checks how many creatures you have twice. At the beginning of your upkeep, Oversold Cemetery will see that you have at least four creatures in the graveyard, so both copies will trigger and go on the stack. When you resolve the first trigger, it will see four creature cards in your graveyard and let you return a creature card to your hand. When the second trigger resolves, it will see only three creature cards in your graveyard, so the ability won't do anything. See the Gatherer ruling:

The check for four or more creature cards is performed on resolution as well as at the beginning of upkeep. So the trigger may not do anything if there are not enough creatures any longer. (2004-10-04)

If you can get another creature card in the graveyard (for example, discarding the one you just returned to activate Harnfel, Horn of Bounty) before the second trigger resolves, your graveyard would qualify again and you would be able to return a second creature card to your hand.

I think the first thing is to make her not MDFC, as that instantly makes a card better, even if Harnfel, Horn of Bounty isn't going to be used as frequently, there are situations where her ability to be played as an artifact with discard to impulse draw is exactly what is needed.

Second, I think that both her abilities can be toned down just a bit.

Birgi, the Liturgist

Legendary Creature - God

Whenever you cast your first spell on each turn, add .

whenever a creature boasts, you may search your library for another creature with boast. If you do, reveal it, shuffle your library and put that card on top.

1/2

Giving her a once a turn ritual seemed a lot more balanced than simply a strictly worse card. Also I thought letting her tutor for boast creatures would make her a more fun card, and also not strictly worse.

I'd like to see a series of mono colored vanilla creatures in each color. Thank you!

I'm thinking about ideas to add some kind of impulsive / extra draw - the mana gen here is officially in great shape, now its a matter of expanding the options available. Right now, here's what I'm considering:

Bolas's Citadel , Harnfel, Horn of Bounty , Outpost Siege , Sunbird's Invocation , Valakut Exploration

I'm also wondering about Night's Whisper - getting efficient card draw is just that much more important with the mana gen feeling more consistent.

bosny i've sorted it into general categories for ya. the main cog is curio for triggering and re-triggering EtBs (we're deliberately avoiding a storm win con) and another nice one is nexus for upgrading all your tribal EtB tutors (as well as treasure output, obviously)

Ruby Medallion and The Immortal Sun reduce the cost of your silly storm of creatures, Mana Echoes and Birgi, God of Storytelling  Flip can help you string your 2+ CMC creature spells along, and the Harnfel, Horn of Bounty side of Birgi is a nice bonus, especially if you've got access to Paradise Mantle and Cinder Pyromancer or Chandra, Fire of Kaladesh  Flip for {R} so don't be afraid to pick her up and redeploy once you're rolling, bouncing, rather

obviously there's that guy or Purphoros, God of the Forge / Kyren Negotiations for win cons... but wouldn't you rather mill your pod out with Hair-Strung Koto while playing every single instant and sorcery from their decks with Dire Fleet Daredevil ?

dare to dream, my little devil friend :)

Kaldheim Changes 1/31/2020

Out- Teferi, Master of Time,Silent Gravestone, Negate, Trinket Mage

In- Narset, Parter of Veils,Weathered Runestone, Mystic Reflection, Birgi, God of Storytelling  Flip

Reasons for changes:

I decided that with as many wheel effects that are run in the deck that Narset, Parter of Veils is just better suited for the deck than Teferi, Master of Time. Where Teferi has more upside with extra turns and pressure on every turn, Narset gives us some extra benefit all while synergizing with our wheels.

I swapped out Silent Gravestone for the new card Weathered Runestone because one of the big problems in my meta is Kess, Dissident Mage. At 1 more mana I will take the added benefit of stopping Kess decks from recasting things like Demonic Consultation and Tainted Pact when they have a Thassa's Oracle on board.

Speaking of Thassa's Oracle decks Mystic Reflection is a must include for these match ups going forward. As long as their is another non-legendary creature on the board we can now stop Oracles in their tracks. So cutting Negate, arguably the weakest counterspell in the deck, was an easy choice.

Now for the hardest cut and one that I will be carefully monitoring going forward Birgi, God of Storytelling  Flip for Trinket Mage. Trinket Mage is a big card when we have it early. Going and tutoring out early mana rocks or top can completely shift a game. However I want to test out the simple fact that Birgi is a legend that once on the board acts as another Etherium Sculptor. We do need to be able to cast one thing to get the ball rolling but once we have that extra mana Birgi gives us will snowball and let us go deeper and deeper. Birgi's other side Harnfel, Horn of Bounty is also amazing for us. Being able to ditch dead lands in our hand for 2 potential cards that will help us continue to push the combo will be a much welcome help when we need it; though this side will rarely be used. In the future I may come back to this cut and reintroduce Trinket Mage back into the deck in favor of a different cut, but in the mean time its the change I feel most confident with.
