I was going to say that Gruul Spellbreaker was showcasing a guild mechanic and therefor would obviously have both guild colors in its identity, but then I looked at the rest of Guilds of Ravnica, and that's apparently not the case at all. If it would be, Legion Warboss would be , Venerated Loxodon would be , Blood Operative would be and Quasiduplicate would be .

Although in the case of Gruul Spellbreaker I think flavor tops color pie. Nothing screams "get out you pansy wizard dudes and let us smash" like hexproof on the player. At least I believe that more than being needed for hexproof on a player.

legendofa for Gruul Spellbreaker the hexproof I think is the green-pip, not red. Green is very liberal with hexproof, and we’ve seen it attributed to players in cards like Veil of Summer. The red-side of that card is defo, imo, the Riot ability (yea you’ve shown green can get this, but its faar more common in red).

Shamanic Revelation does a pretty good impression in mono-. Pledge of Unity has everything but the card draw. I think it's fine as .

I'm not totally sure how the color allocation works officially, though. As a little mind trick, it's possible to make grant hexproof to players.

A 3/3 creature with riot, trample, and hexproof is printable in mono-. Hexproof for players has not been printed in mono- or mono-, and Gruul Spellbreaker has to justify a pip. So either the Spellbreaker could have been printed as mono-, or can grant hexproof to players.

And I'm still waiting for a vigilant flyer...

Hi there cool deck. I feel like the riot cards would fit here like a glove. Gruul Spellbreaker is probably the best there and others like Zhur-Taa Goblin or Rhythm of the Wild can be very effective too.

This seems a bit like a combination of RG midrange and RG aggro.

Specifically, Bloodbraid Elf, Bonecrusher Giant, and Ignoble Hierarch are some pretty solidly midrange cards.

Some other cards are a bit higher cmc like Gruul Spellbreaker, Steel Leaf Champion, and Domri, Anarch of Bolas.

Bonecrusher is OK, but Ignoble is really not what you want if you want to be swinging with creatures every turn. Currently you have way more 3 drops than 1-2 drops which isn't great. I'd cut basically all of these cards, the best one out of them might be Domri.

More 1 drop threats: Narnam Renegade, Kird Ape, Monastery Swiftspear (If you add more spells)

2 drop: Hidden Herbalists, Eidolon of the Great Revel, Reckless Bushwhacker You definitely need 4 Bushwhackers. Burning-Tree into optional 2nd Burning-Tree into Reckless Bushwhacker is probably the strongest turn 2 play you can make. Add in Hidden Herbalists, and you can do stuff like Hidden Herbalists into Burning-Tree into Bushwhacker. Eidolon is a weirder choice but I've tried 4 before and it can be pretty good.

3 drop: Generally you want something from your 3 drops thats more than just a big stompy body like Steel-Leaf. Seasoned Pyromancer is a great 2 of, since you're casting 3 drops mid game and it lets you draw into more gas.

Spells: 4x Atarka's Command hands down. Card is cracked. Light up the stage is pretty decent but you could maybe try cutting down a few if you need space. 1-2 Savage Swipe is pretty funny, since you have a lot of 2 power creatures and it can put in extra damage while removing an opposing creature. If you decide to run 4 bolt 4 atarka 4 light 2 swipe then Swiftspear is a consideration.

ClockworkSwordfish Thank you for the great ideas! I don't know how Gruul Spellbreaker escaped my attention, that one is quite a notch better than Warden of the Chained. I also agree with you, that the deck could use a bit of adaptability, so I included your suggestions into a sideboard :)

This looks like a really good, solid kitchen table-type deck! It's always nice to see more of those types of casual superstars.

One choice that stands out to me, however, is Warden of the Chained... he seems like a reasonable "underpriced creature with a drawback," but it's actually quite easy to do better in . The best example is perhaps Gruul Spellbreaker, who can be the same size and mana cost but has some other abilities, too, without the drawback. In my experience, the card is dirt cheap, so budget is no worry!

One other option you might want to consider is having a way to deal with noncreature permanents. It would be shut down by something like Sphere of Safety or Call to the Grave. I think one of the most efficient budget options is Hull Breach, though you might also like the incidental damage from something like Cindervines or Destructive Revelry. Ancient Grudge is also super efficient if you're more worried about artifacts in particular. If you'd rather handle it on the creature side of things, Sunder Shaman and Gemrazer are both solid options!
