Gnarlid Colony

Creature — Beast

I would recommend adding Counters to the hubs. You could use Wildwood Scourge since it can get counters pretty easily from your other creatures. Gala Greeters would also flow nicely with it's ability to gain you life, ramp with treasure tokens or put counters on itself. This is a maybe but you could use Duskshell Crawler or Gnarlid Colony for it's ability to make creatures with counters have trample. Also, with what Dead_Blue_ recommended, Old-Growth Troll it's pretty good value, ramping after death then the ability to come back as a token of itself. Last thing, I would recommend using Tribute to the World Tree but it's a little pricey for the budget. It can provide card draw from the bigger creatures and more counters from the smaller ones.

Hardened Scales and Vorinclex, Monstrous Raider are pretty dope for counter decks like this one!

Hamza, Guardian of Arashin can make your big creatures cheap, and Gavony Township is a decent mana-sink if you end up top-decking.

Kodama of the West Tree, Bramblewood Paragon, Gnarlid Colony, Trollbred Guardian, and Tuskguard Captain each give your creatures with counters on them trample (Kodama being the best one).

Abzan Falconer gives them flying instead.

Basri's Lieutenant is a fun card since it can repopulate your board after a board wipe and can block a lot of problematic creatures like multicolored commanders.

I've looked into this and I really like the path of +1/+1 counters. There are of course plenty of ways to get counters on your creatures in this deck (primarily Willowdusk), so capitalizing off of that with effects that bolster any creatures with counters or give them trample it pretty darn powerful.

First off, the trample givers: Bramblewood Paragon, Gnarlid Colony, Pridemalkin, and Crowned Ceratok.

And some other +1/+1 tribal engines: Mer-Ek Nightblade, Oona's Blackguard, Skyclave Shadowcat, and Tenured Inkcaster who, in particular, is very good in this deck.

And some support for the counters: Armorcraft Judge, Gladehart Cavalry, and Inspiring Call.

On a different note, giving your creatures lifelink in this deck is insane. Swing with something big to permanently double it's P/T with Willowdusk. Some good cards for that are: Alchemist's Gift, Essence Infusion, Rush of Vitality, Sorin, Imperious Bloodlord, Poet's Quill, and especially Whip of Erebos. Essence Harvest is also in the same vein.

Lastly, one nasty thing you could do would be untapping Willowdusk to use her ability twice in a turn for exponential gains. Ideally, this would be done with cards like: Magewright's Stone, Puppet Strings, Quirion Ranger, Seeker of Skybreak, and Thousand-Year Elixir.

I also want to quickly touch on the other side of Willowdusk's ability with Aetherflux Reservoir Which would let you instakill an opponent then give one of your creatures +50/+50.

As for what to remove, there are quite a few cards I feel are pretty unsynergistic here like Dragonsguard Elite and Witherbloom Pledgemage as this isn't really a spellslinger deck. I also dont see the point of reclamation effects like Deadly Brew, Retrieve, Healing Technique, Dollhouse of Horrors, The Underworld Cookbook, or You Happen on a Glade. Lastly, Roil Spout just isn't legal (probably an error lol).

Cool deck idea! I'd suggest bumping up Into the Roil and Inscription of Abundance to 4 each, since it's your only removal cards, plus Inscription is so versatile. Cards like Oran-Rief Ooze , Gnarlid Colony , and Wildwood Scourge are all good, even if you can't spend the extra mana on them. Dragonsguard elite doesn't seem quite as useful, but I haven't looked too much into the Strixhaven cards yet. Body of Research seems like a beast of a card but it might be difficult to play unless you change up your mana ratio. I haven't used some of the other cards so it's hard to give my opinion on them.

Hey Bobs_Army & Elasar99 (great name btw!), thanks a lot for your input! I really appreciate it.

As for The Great Henge, The Ozolith, Heroic Intervention, Hardened Scales, Doubling Season, Branching Evolution and so many other spicey - yet pricey - cards, please keep the description of the deck in mind. This deck is going to be a budget build to be an entry in a Secret Santa type thing. My playgroups' gentleman's agreement is ~30,00€/$40.00 maximum - plus cards that sit in our binders which we don't mind giving away.

Also, the deck's supposed to be played in a low powered pod, which we would score 3-4/10 by our metrics. The easiest way to do that is have most cards either fit the counters theme or one of the subthemes such as fighting instead of being generically good. Meaning, cards like Inspiring Call and Sporeback Troll fit a lot better than Heroic Intervention, Wrap in Vigor, Lightning Greaves, Swiftfoot Boots and the likes.

I still have Tuskguard Captain and Bramblewood Paragon in a box somewhere. I might add them as extras. For the moment i think Champion of Lambholt, Gnarlid Colony and Pridemalkin should be plenty to enable hits.

I'm quite sure Longshot Squad is one of those boxes, too. It'll have to be an extra for now, since i won't know if the deck's even facing flyers until all Secret Santas are revealed. Nice catch though!

Hydra's Growth and Increasing Savagery have been on my mind as well, yet they fit Mowu, Loyal Companion so much better than the other interchangable commanders. Going wide and wild with counters is a lot more entertaining than just going big. Same goes for Managorger Hydra. Sure it's straight forward, but something like Forgotten Ancient can enable a variety of things - at half the price.

As for Yorvo, Lord of Garenbrig, there are only so few creatures that would trigger his second ability reliably at the moment: Bloodspore Thrinax, Renata, Called to the Hunt, Verdurous Gearhulk and Vigor. If i would be looking for creatures that do something similar to his first ability i'd propably consider Ivy Lane Denizen for its flexibility instead.

Anyhow, thanks again for your kind words and suggestions!

ps. MapPsycho thanks for your flattering words as well! :)

I like the deck and wg +1/+1 counters with sacrifice is nice.

Weapon Rack and Thrive for getting +1/+1 counters on your creatures. Serrated Arrows is a bit of a stretch, but with proliferate, it could help.

Cards with escape like Loathsome Chimera, Voracious Typhon, and Sentinel's Eyes can be useful for you strategy, as they allow late-game recursion that also has +1/+1 counters on the creatures. Travel Preparations also can spread around +1/+1 counters.

Ivy Elemental, Apex Hawks, and Gnarlid Colony are nice creatures that can come in with +1/+1 counters, as well as being flexible in the early and late game.

Antler Skulkin can help with creature protection.

I couldn't tell you even if I spent an hour on the internet trying. Not that I did...

I personally like keeping this mono green. Straight to the point and never color screwed. A lot of the white combos look super strong but feel like 'win more' rather than 'get you there faster' to me.

I'd load that puppy up with Gnarlid Colonys too. Trample is amazing. Maybe drop the Khalni Ambush  Flipes. With the choice lands you're at 24 and a mono green doesn't need that many with no landfall procs. You also have the fight target creature from Inscription of Abundance.
