legendofa on Does Endless Detour prevent ETB?

No. Ganax, Astral Hunter doesn't enter the battlefield before being returned to the deck. The ETB ability never has an opportunity to trigger.

If an opponent is casting Ganax, Astral Hunter, and on the stack I cast Endless Detour targeting Ganax, would Ganax still get the ETB trigger?

ted1 - I like the decklist and the concept! Looks like you are running a decent amount of ramp and flicker with the hope of generating lots of dragon copies/tokens via effects from Miirym, Sentinel Worm, Panharmonicon, etc...

If I may ask some questions and/or provide some thoughts...I am surprised things like Dragon Tempest, Terror of the Peaks, and Ancient Silver Dragon were omitted. Dragon Tempest and Terror of the Peaks are just like Scourge of Valkas and fill a similar roll. If you can get out lots of dragons, Dragon Tempest and Scourge of Valkas are superior but Terror of the Peaks is basically targeted removal when you only can get out a few dragons before another board wipe.

Ancient Silver Dragon I feel like you would need in this deck as it allows no maximum hand size. Given the amount of draw this deck has with things like Elemental Bond and Kindred Discovery, having some stuff like that would be crucial...

I am a little surprised to see Goldspan Dragon. You are only running three dragons with treasure synergy with Ganax, Astral Hunter and Ancient Copper Dragon obviously having some serious treasure production ability in this deck. Just feels like this inclusion with the hope of getting it out with one of those two is low and you could do better by adding a dragon with a different role.

Personally, whenever I run a creature heavy deck, I always include two things: 1. protection for my boardstate and 2. something to bring back my creatures after a boardwipe. Nothing is worse than having your deck explode onto the field and then a Wrath of God get dropped and you blew your load early and have no way to really recover. I would encourage you to try to find some form of both of these and include it such as Deflecting Swat, plus it has a dragon for flair!!!

Lastly, Gratuitous Violence outclassed by Fiery Emancipation...plus it has some dragon flair with the fire :)

Hi Vlasiax! First off, yeah. TA makes more sense in the haste enabler category, changed. Second, I get what you're saying regarding the 4+ power condition, but Ganax, Astral Hunter has done some insane ramp work for me. I'm never disappointed to see Ganax show up in my hand - I've amassed Gnawbone treasure levels with multiple Ganax's on the table, it can get silly with all the token doubling etc. Lastly, great call on Stubborn Denial! I am definitely going to try to find space for that in here, thank you.

Hello,
At first glance, I've noticed that Temur Ascendancy isn't in "Haste Enablers" category :p
Also, how is Ganax, Astral Hunter performing with a few spells that care about 4+ power creatures? Does it come in a way or is it negligible?

Quick edit: Have you also considered adding Stubborn Denial here?

I have tested creatures/cards like that in the past and don't like the staying power or what they are adding to this deck. The creature versions get board-wiped the fastest and don't tend to extend the deck past extra mana available, so I prefer to start getting bigger game impact dragons out and only ramp via land ramp and some artifacts. Mainly to help with my mana fixing, draw, and one sided board-wipes. See the list of cards that those would not interact with other than Scaled Nurturer, that one gets the dragon pass but not card draw and would take up one of the 30 dragon slots. Garruk's Uprising, Elemental Bond, Frontier Siege, Wrathful Red Dragon, Silumgar, the Drifting Death, Rith, Liberated Primeval, Miirym, Sentinel Wyrm, Lathliss, Dragon Queen, Kolaghan, the Storm's Fury, Ganax, Astral Hunter, Firkraag, Cunning Instigator, Dromoka, the Eternal, Bladewing the Risen, Atarka, World Render, Haven of the Spirit Dragon, Relic of Legends, Jade Orb of Dragonkind, Carnelian Orb of Dragonkind, Crux of Fate, The Ur-Dragon

So 20 cards or 1/5th of the deck that those would not extend or interact with. Here is a link for some statistics for mana reducers that basically says if you can play cards every turn and use all mana you have as well then they work the best in those types of decks.

Is it worth it to play cost reducers in MTG EDH commander? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=prltKyeJMKI

Form about this topic https://www.reddit.com/r/EDH/comments/b3stji/cost_reducers_vs_ramp/

Thanks for the comments! Hope this gives some insight on my deck building/playing style and if you run those mana dorks/cost reducers, I think cards like can help and, I do run them in other decks with less colors or better card draw. I do think a commander like Tiamat would benefit from those to help play the tutored cards after cast and help commander tax to recast it and refill your hand. The main thing I consider is what am I swapping, and in this deck and it's mana fixing for a 5 color deck on a 50$ budget, or a potential dragon slot for a deck that wants dragons on the field attacking to start getting ramped up.

I will continue to update this deck and work to give better descriptions of my other decks as well as I build and update my commander arsenal!

Ok, so Changeling Berserker goes infinite with your Commander + a few cards in your list.

Infinite card draw with Temur Ascendancy.

Infinite Treasures with Ganax, Astral Hunter.

Infinite Dragon tokens with Parallel Lives, Lathliss, Dragon Queen & Adrix and Nev, Twincasters.

Infinite damage with Dragon Tempest & Scourge of Valkas.

The way it works is as follows:

Step 1: Changeling Berserker ETBs, a Champion trigger & a Commander trigger go onto the stack.

Step 2: Resolve your Commander's trigger first, creating a Changeling token, 2nd Champion trigger goes onto the stack. You now have 2 unresolved Champion triggers on the stack.

Step 3: Resolve the Token Changeling's Champion trigger, exiling the original Changeling.

Step 4: Resolve the original Changeling's Champion trigger, exiling the Token Changeling & returning the original Changeling to the battlefield.

Step 5: Repeat steps 1-4.

Personally, I'd find space for it lol.
