ScryLord, thank you very much for the suggestion. You gave me something to think about in terms of graveyards. I've decided not to go with your suggestion because while using opponents' graveyards against themselves is fun, I'm not sure it is as doable in a mono-blue pioneer deck. Ashiok, Dream Render does go black, but all black mana costs are hybrid so it makes it more doable for Drowned Secrets and keeps the deck mono-blue. That and milling tends to fuel graveyard strategies which involve including, but not limited to, Crucible of Worlds, Delve and Escape.

Your suggestion, was good, just not what I was looking for in this deck. Death's Approach, however, is a card I see working well in Phenax of the Many Mills. Thank you very much for the suggestion and I hope this won't sour you on sharing ideas with me in the future.

Happy Hunting!

Love the idea, fan of drain meccanics too +1.

I know you made this deck with spare cards, but if you ever wanted to look for an upgrade here's my thoughts:

Firstly, you nave a high curve, so you could afford to waste time with tapped lands. Bojuka Bog is always nice to have in the mainboard. Or some Barren Moor given the deck's draw rate.

Marauding Blight-Priest is generally (Hello Lightning Bolt ) a straight up better Epicure of Blood . Less survivable but lets you waste less time you could use to play curses later.

(My opinion) I really don't like Quag Sickness for its cmc. I think you could use instead 3 Cast Down for some instant speed scenario, but if you want to keep the enchantment theme for the joy of Gary I'd find something better, like Death's Approach .

Looking at the sideboard, same goes for Unholy Indenture . Unfortunately, that awsome Seb McKinnon art is terribly wasted. Cards like Demonic Vigor do the same job.

As I said, I know you are using spare cards, but if you like my ideas maybe you could gather some of these among tour friends. That's one of pauper's advantages after all. Have fun!

Top recommendations: Burnished Hart, sad robot-Solemn Simulacrum, and Liliana's Contract due to the number of demons your are running.

Undiscovered Paradise/Ghost Town - are ways to ensure land drops each turn

Other Ways to search for lands: Liliana's Shade, Armillary Sphere, Journeyer's Kite/Thaumatic Compass  Flip, Pilgrim's Eye, Surveyor's Scope, Thawing Glaciers, Field of Ruin

Keeping the demon subtheme I would suggest: Ammit Eternal, Baleful Ammit, Archfiend of Despair, Demon of Catastrophes, Demon of Dark Schemes, Demon of Wailing Agonies, Harvester of Souls, Nefarox, Overlord of Grixis, Reiver Demon

Demonlord Belzenlok/Kothophed, Soul Hoarder/Razaketh, the Foulblooded (these three + griselbrand hold liliana's contract very flavorful)

I would remove: Buried Alive (don't see strong graveyard recursion), Temporal Extortion/Dash Hopes (bc if its that important to your opponents they will pay the life), Grinning Demon/Minion of Leshrac (no upside), Gloom/Infernal Reckoning(unless this is a meta choice but its too situational), Sanguine Bond (do you gain that much life to be relevant?), Death's Approach (for hard removal) and Without Weakness

darksilver, thanks for the input man!!! Mill has kinda been my guilty pleasure since I started playing, so I do want to include it here as much as possible. I'm thinking about scavenging some more from my (Built) Lazav EDH deck, haven't looked into yet, but maybe some of the artifacts, and convert that mainly to control/shapeshifter. I should probably tell you, budget is a big thing, lol, otherwise Font of Fertility and Font of Fortunes wouldn't be making an appearance, the money cards are just ones I've picked up along the way. I actually picked up two Ravenous Chupacabra tonight, and one of them definitely made the switch you were suggesting. I am going to be switching Ramunap Excavator from my (Built) Jarad EDH deck to this for sure, and throw in Burgeoning as well (what are your thoughts on that?). I like Llanowar Scout because it does let me play extra lands, but are you thinking I have too many of these instances? Like with Courser of Kruphix? Or is scout just too weak for that still? The reason I am playing Courser is twofold, he is an enchantment creature, and I tried to get as many permanents with multiple types in here so I would always be able to maximize my commander's ability, and he lets me play stuff out of my library just like Vizier of the Menagerie (which really gives me 3 places to play all told). Speaking of multiple types on permanents, that's the same logic behind Etherium Sculptor and Kruphix, God of Horizons, although secondary to multiple types is that the sculptor can make some of my artifacts free (and I think I will be adding more now, like Horn of Greed which I just got, and whatever milling I decide to do) and Kruphix can net me a lot of mana over time, which man, I know I have an artifact that has X mill in it... But... what do you think of those two still? I guess let me find the other stuff and then see... I need to get a few Perpetual Timepiece for like three or four decks, but as of now I don't have any. On that note, I think I might take out Mirror-Mad Phantasm because you are right about him milling me out, I just wanted to use him so bad; what do you think? I kinda like Death's Approach in here because more targeted removal without qualifiers is nice, it gets around indestructible, only costs one mana, and it's an enchantment so it gives me more options there. That all being said I think I am going to put in Fleshbag Marauder since I pulled him from a pack tonight (literally no shop has had a version of him the past week), and after that are you still not liking approach? Also, no Shriekmaw has I sadly. Your comment about lack of instant speed interaction does strike a chord within me... might look into throwing in Alchemist's Refuge, though my Kumena deck will be sorry to see it go, lol. I do believe I am going to find a way to fit in Secrets of the Dead, because my hand needs to have cards as well, probably, and that's so awesome I wish I had thought of it before. As for Cyclonic Rift, and Beast Within... I really didn't want to move away from the permanent theme (also... I do not own a Rift, please do not doubt my seriousness as a commander player, lol), but I might actually be adding something I picked up today in the $.50 bin, Realms Uncharted. After looking over this again with your words, and some new thoughts, in my mind these are the cards I'm for sure going to be pulling: Villainous Wealth and Shambling Shell, those are just the for sure ones though. I think I might invest more into the creatures... sigh, part of me wants to bring over my Lord of Extinction, but it makes Jarad really. Thanks again though!!! And have I changed your mind any? I do know you may want to wait until I have made more chnages, but seeing it through your eyes has helped a lot already.

Okay, I just noticed how many mill cards you are running, and if your plan was to use Dictate of Karametra to Mind Grind for about a million, then obviously you should keep it, and maybe Wight of Precinct Six, but Death's Approach is still questionable at best. I would run Shriekmaw (1 more mana, but is also a creature, and doesn't depend on you having milled them), or Beast Within (Lacks the recursion, but you have few ways to deal with things at instant speed.

Cyclonic Rift is a commander All-star, and is definitely worth running, especially because you don't have very many (or any at all) sweepers.
