Creative Technique

Sorcery

Demonstrate (When you cast this spell, you may copy it. If you do, choose an opponent to also copy it.)

Shuffle your library, then reveal cards from the top of it until you reveal a nonland card, exile that card and put the rest on the bottom of your library in a random order. You may cast the exiled card without paying its mana cost.

Cards exiled with Mind's Desire have to follow timing restrictions for playing them. The difference is that Mind's Desire allows you to play the card "until end of turn" so it is possible to follow timing restrictions and therefore required. Creative Technique has you casting the spell during the resolution of another spell, which breaks, and so ignores, all timing restrictions.

If my opponent gets a copy of my Mind's Desire, are they able to cast non-instant/non-flash cards outside of regular timing restrictions?

The way that it is worded seems to imply that the casting would follow the expected timing restrictions, but the wording of Creative Technique has me second guessing myself as it avoids timing restrictions.

Creative Technique, perhaps? Omniscience, maybe also? Funny list :)

Commander 2013 Tempt cards (Tempt with Immortality, Tempt with Vengeance, honorary spot for Tempting Contract), Commander 2014 Offerings (Infernal Offering and Volcanic Offering), and Strixhaven Commander Demonstrate cards (Creative Technique and Incarnation Technique) are good places to look for political cards. Spectral Searchlight is an option.

DrukenReaps that is a playstyle (which I love) that only certain people win with, takes a very different look at tempo & life totals as a resource. Very midrangy (which I also love). It is really fun to force players to make different decisions than they normally would because you have been chiseling at life totals on a non-lifegain control deck for example.

If you build it the non-cEDH/combo way Atla Palani, Nest Tender is chaotic in a fun way. Atla with Tobasco Sauce plays with high variance. Ruric Thar, the Unbowed is one of my favorite egg-hatches, which probably fits the bill for this topic.

Polymorphing probably fits this bill too, you can build however much variance you want then Reality Scramble tokens.

Fun variance cards: Oath of Druids is a staple for me, you can make the game very lopsided against a miserly opponent with this. Creative Technique is powerful but has variance, Protection Racket is amazing in a fun Timmy deck that doesn't care that much if you lose a card here and there. None of those really stall things, they just keep the foot on the gas. I know there are more that I will think up.

Chain Devil - really anything causing players to sacrifice nontokens seems to pan out well.

Creative Technique - always demonstrate, it is crazy good particularly in Timmie decks.

Mob Rule - causes so many 1-sided blowouts

Prosperous Partnership - boros ramp that gives you a combatants at the solid 3 mana value

Clackbridge Troll

Descent into Avernus - groupslug done well. This can just change the entire outlook of a game.

They get cast immediately. If a resolving spell or ability says you can cast something and doesn't specify a window of time ("this turn", "until your next turn" etc.), it means you cast it right now as part of the resolution. The spell doesn't resolve immediately, but you put it on the stack and make all the necessary choices etc. and then after the previous spell/ability is totally finished resolving everyone will get a chance to make responses before that new spell starts to resolve.

The normal reason you're only able to cast certain types of spells at certain times is because the base rules of the game only give you permission to cast them at those times. It's possible to get additional permissions from other effects like the Flash ability, cards like Vedalken Orrery, or cards like Creative Technique. However, if you're given an actual specific restriction then there's no way to get around that. Teferi, Time Raveler will stop Creative Technique cold, because it's trying to get you to cast a spell at a time you wouldn't normally be allowed to cast a Sorcery (during the resolution of another spell).

Do the cards exiled with Creative Technique remain in exile until they are cast, or do they get cast immediately?

Does this bypass spell time restrictions when you demonstrate it on an opponent (allowing them to cast a creature spell on your turn without flash)?
