So, I really love this card, from the name, to the art, and to the flavor text. The idea of what the card does is also really cool. Unfortunately, it's high mana cost, the fact that it enters tapped, how susceptible it is to removal, and the fact that it exiles itself makes the card really bad. I play it in one deck as a joke, but am never able to utilize it. I really want to, though, so I reworked it by adding ward 2 and reducing the cost by 1...

Alright, keep the challenge going, like Caerwyn said: Take an existing card where you love some non-mechanical element of it (the name, the flavor text, the art, etc.), but would not play because it is lacking mechanically. Improve the card to make it playable--without making it broken.

All three of those look great! I've been trying to build an Archelos deck for the longest time now. I want to make mine more themed around the concept of time, though. Aeon Engine, Time Stop, Discontinuity etc. I still have no idea what the endgame is while trying to actively avoid some sort of infinite turn nonsense.

Goreclaw, Terror of Qal Sisma is one of my favorite cards from M19 and it reminds me a lot of when I started playing in early 2019 (M19 and Amonkhet were sets I bought a lot into when I started). Hopefully this thread can help it get to 100 upvotes!

Moraug, Fury of Akoum is another great one. I debated building him when ZNR released but opted for tossing him in one of the decks I already had. Still cool to see him on his own, though. Terrain Generator and Nahiri's Lithoforming work wonders in that deck, I'm sure!

Come to think of it, I think this thread could use a "You must leave a comment/+1/suggestion" clause much like the regular "Advertise your deck!" thread. Would help to spark more conversation around the ones posted rather than people just posting and leaving. (No offense to anyone that's already done that of course, just throwing the idea out there.)

These are four of the five decks in my mono-colored Legends of Dominaria cycle. The {B} one (Yawgmoth, Thran Physician, of course!) is still set to private and has a primer that's a WIP at the moment. I can update it here once it's done. Would love any sort of feedback on them as they're some of my favorite decks both in gameplay and flavor. :)

The Comprehensive Rules don't appear to have a hard definition for the phrase "Turn Order". The "Starting the Game" section only describes how to determine turn order for a 2-player game. The rules for multiplayer free-for-all games don't say anything specific and seem to assume the players already know how to determine turn order. A side comment given in 101.4 describing APNAP order ("...the next player in turn order (usually the player seated to the active player's left)...") looks to be like the only thing that covers it outright.

Since "turn order" isn't specifically defined by the rules of the game, that tells me we need to rely on the common meaning of the words, which is simply the order in which players will be taking their turns. By that reasoning, inserting extra turns into the normal turn order can change APNAP, so your example with Final Fortune does temporarily change APNAP order.

Aeon Engine straight-out says "reverse the game's turn order", so we don't have to do any logical gymnastics to get to the result that yes, APNAP is reversed for the rest of the game.

101.4 If multiple players would make choices and/or take actions at the same time, the active player (the player whose turn it is) makes any choices required, then the next player in turn order (usually the player seated to the active player's left) makes any choices required, followed by the remaining nonactive players in turn order. Then the actions happen simultaneously. This rule is often referred to as the "Active Player, Nonactive Player (APNAP) order" rules.

Fair warning: I'm not entirely convinced by my explanation of the Final Fortune result. I would need more time to research to see if an "Official" judge/rules source has addressed the question of whether the game has a more strictly defined concept of "turn order" and how inserting extra turns in various places can affect it.

There are 3 players in the game. It's player 1's turn. It would ordinarily be player 2's turn next.

Player 3 casts a Final Fortune during player 1's main phase. Does APNAP order change for the remainer of the turn?

Alternatively, a player activates the ability of an Aeon Engine . Does APNAP order follow the reversed turn order for the remainder of the game?

Hey there chriscross25! Love your deck, and love the commander as well! If you haven't thought of it already or cut it from the first draft, I'd include something like Illusionist's Bracers to further improve Osgir's reconstruction ability!

Also, something like Aeon Engine to lock someone out of the game seems so rude!

It seems this Topic is like having an Astral Plane, but Physicality is entirely Nil. I guess I have to show my Spellbook from here? Take caution; this is some very personal stuff you're about to read...

1. Aeon Engine : Have you ever wanted to change yourself prior to now? I do; how I got to this point is a cruel progress. My past was filled w/ nothing but despair. I was a crybaby of a B----, & my Asperger's Syndrome didn't help matters (At the time, people thought I was different, but not in a good way; it was near the end of the quest to discover Autism). Neither did mixing ZOLOFT w/ Chocolate Milk made from Nesquik Powder; but Risperdal, at preteen status?! OI! I never liked Zoloft in the first place, & that's how I got the personality I have today; not through Mana, but Zoloft. Fun Fact: Aeon Engine was created by WotC in response to Paradox Engine 's sudden banning in Commander/EDH. Paradox was even mentioned in the Flavor Text.

2. Flood of Tears This card is busted for a good reason: Instant Cheat for Omniscience . If tears bring hope, it has never arrived. While there are bad memories of my past, how can one not even be 0.infinity & 1% Good memories? Mine are BEAST WARS, Aurex Cluster Transformers (Armada, Energon, & Cybertron), Medabots, Pre-Burst Beyblade, among others to note. I was going to represent Flood of Recollection on this; but when you essentially bounce (Almost) EVERYTHING, just to tutor into play whatever permanent (This can also be a LAND; It does not say nonland permanent!) you freakin want, maybe utilizing your Unfathomable & Distraught Sorrow... um, maybe it might not be so bad after all... Fast Fact: I actually have a soft spot for ol' Mu Yanling. Her divine Beauty & Grace makes her a very powerful Neowalker even after surviving the WAR. Damn though, ol' Mowu turning to stone w/o needing to be Petrified by Vraska . Well, at least she's hunting down Dovin Baan … Heh.

3. Wildest Dreams : This card represents the very things I want to do as a result: Such as be an Indie Game Developer, Make a Custom PC to fit such a game's needs (It is planned to be on Par w/ the PS5; w/ support for 8K. What budget to use?), even being on YouTube not just for gameplay purpose anymore, but in addition, talking about what I like to talk about, & yes, eve the MTG ARENA Twitch Streams. That, & an Spell that can be recurred by Riftsweeper anyway is awesome.

4. Ponder : To think is to try & Hatch an idea. Whatever you need to do in order to accomplish your goals. How to Approach a Scenario... How to think & act fast in a stressful Situation; If you can put more than just Blood, Sweat, & Tears into it, Anything that is fixed in the realism of our world is possible. Also, I think of ideas that are almost parallel to WARHAMMER 40,000's Tzeentch's status as the Changer of Ways. & being a One-Use Sensei's Divining Top is actually pretty good.

5. Act on Impulse : Sometimes you have that tingling sense you need to fufill; FAST. For me? It can be Desires of the Human Flesh, Anime ASMR, Eating something I'm allergic to, it just goes on. This is the Same feeling for Impulsive Draw, & for this one; I suggest you prep yourself before exiling 3 to cast ( Unless you press your luck on this... ). I wonder how to Make Impulsive Draw better in , & ?

6. Concentrate : Words lie? People Lie? The Lands speaks the Truth? Uh, no, Garruk Wildspeaker . Even when my head has so many ideas; some finally realized in much better art than before: Sakura-Tribe Elder , Lightning Greaves , even a new art for Solemn Simulacrum better than the Kaladesh Inventions version. What did you think is a lie also, you bats--- crazy Druid turned Walker Hunter? Our minds are our greatest treasure in ourselves; & yours just so happened to be removed from a complete Monster to you. Now I just want the original Art for Harmonize in the future; WotC is at least looking slightly up at the least. OH, & suck on this, Garruk fans: When ol' Liliana meets w/ Kaya ; now a Gatewatch member in her stead; I'll ask you a question w/ a JEAPORDY-Style Clue: These Two Walkers are both after Liliana Vess , but out of both of them, one will get in the way w/ another & vice versa to kill one of the last "Oldwalkers"; Actually, Garruk has since been cured of The Chain Veil 's curse, but whether he'll backup Liliana Vess or not we've yet to see...

7. Echo of Eons : Remember what I said about how Time Stretch speaks nothing but the Truth? Well, you're about to be screwed as to why (Engages a more, Lawful Evil Persona...) There has always been this, & ONLY THIS. Only the Present Exists. The Past is just recovered Information that already happened as the Present Progresses through time, & the Future is merely the Present as it progresses forward through the Flow of Time. How could it work like a VCR? Fast Forward is Accelerating All of Reality. Rewind does the same, but inverse. Pause stops all or Reality; Infinite Dimensional Layers, it's essentially worse than Absolute Zero, as nobody can even Move; the Flow of Time ceases, & therefore, Reality. Record would allow you to repeat the good times now, but when would you believe that very clip will be either Boring, or Tear Jerking? What if one could foolishly break the laws of Temporal Science? Accelerating time? Reversing it? Force one through Accelerated Aging? Reversing the Present Time of another? Foreseeing a Future that's just another section of a later Present?
   Forcing one's consciousness to several days back to one point in their life that already happened? Stopping one's Time by pausing it? Create Time Paradoxal Anomalies of any physical form? Sharing one's Senses in another Timeline/Dimensional Layer? Going back to a previous Present of another? Forcing one so far into a Later Section of out Present that it pales on BFR (BattleField Removal)? Same for being sent back in time where its Present should be only lost to Historical Records? What could all this mean as The Present is the one true form of time? You might be wondering, what is this suppose to mean? Simple: Sakuya Izayoi (Touhou Project) vs Kurumi Tokisaki (DATE-A-LIVE) needs to be made into fruition. MAKE IT HAPPEN, Hyun's Dojo Community. or ROOSTER TEETH. They're fine too... But when you need a good Timetwister that doesn't exile itself right away, remember the murderer MTG's Idea of Goldilocks wanted to murder you too for backing up A Tribal Leader of one of the Worst Viable Creature Types. . I wish I had a BURN! GIF to those that say Shit like BEAR FORCE ONE is "Great". Bears don't even have Non-Vanilla Effects most of the time. Goldilocks would rather kill a Ruler of her Animal Type than just simply kill Mama Bear, Papa Bear, & Baby Bear.

8. ???: Maelstrom Wanderer , Riku of Two Reflections , Intet, the Dreamer , a Chandra Walker... Anything can apply here for something, but I believe my best bet is to include some Personality Traits that I can relate to. Take the Triumphs of WAR for instance. Chandra's Triumph mentions finding your ideal self, & believing in the idea of the lack of perfection; both of these I can relate to. Jace's Triumph states ultimate power (This is Omnipotence Vibes incarnate.) is self-defeating; also agreeing on this. Liliana's Triumph even states having independence is very important; I agree with this as well. But for Gideon's Triumph & Nissa's Triumph , they have nothing to contribute to. Might as well continue from there: Believing in the salvation of just being alive is pointless; Hell, Sirius Black in the Movie Adaptation of Prisoner of Azkaban said this: "I would have died! I would have died rather than betray my friends, as we would have done for you!" Like Gideon Jura/Kytheon long after the fact, Ol' Padfoot was killed to early. Nissa though, is FAR worse. Why destroy the Unnatural, when you can channel its power & make excellent use of it? Even fostering Life? Nearly every Animal on Earth; Discovered or Not, has a Mortality Rate for each individual Organism; Mayflies alone live for 5 MINUTES. But even some organisms (I'll talk of Animals in this case.) are capable of resetting their lifespan from an old age, to being reborn from using itself; not even Phoenix's; those who are reborn from their own ash could do something this epic.

But if you wanted to know my personality traits to further help out this cause, here's what I'll say for all 5 individual Mana Colors:

: Equality (I completely understand what the ladies need to do to acquire this, but merely this isn't enough; I'd actually would rather talk about how to actually have all genders created Equal; backing it up by a Tierlist Template on the internet (Does anyone know where to find one? I wanted to use one to show the Goldilocks Effect for females in fiction. I'll try best not to be inappropriate. ;)), Sadly, that's about it for ...

: Knowledge (Given my passion for finding out information on stuff I like ALOT, this is a NO Brainer; plus, Narset 's Center Color is , & Autistic; like I too am Asperger's. Hell even Homunculi, One-Eyed, or something else entirely are usually also this; a byproduct of Alchemy. WotC could've gave a Homunculus Legendary another Eye at least, & they would've gotten away w/ it. Any Alchemist Planeswalkers out there?

Cautious: Especially in the Summer, I always have to watch my own back, as I see things that are real, but nobody else believes me. I really wish more people are like Donald Epps of NUMB3RS fame on this; I mean, he said approach with extreme caution. I'm doing this every day of my life even now. I mean, At least I'm not Pantophobic; Fearing Everything is a true nightmare; Reality itself forces fear down your throat. Really blows if you have this Phobia...

I also believe everything starts as a Blank Slate; AKA Tabula Rasa; also, a name of one of the shortest lived MMO's ever (Did it suck that much? :/). But in all seriousness, you can't just have some Mono/Poly-Theistic Deity(ies) shape something that just ends up being a mere story of whatever Era that Text resides from (Even the Holy Bible is just a bunch of stories anyway, though we got Anime/Manga to learn such things anyway; sorry if I'm being Anti-Semetic; I have no such intention, honest.)

Despite the elements here, I actually don't agree with the Recurring Elements: I'd rather have Reality punch me in the face, I believe in both thought & action, & I believe only the Present exists.

: Self-Interest: Obviously, I'm a Team of One; & I actually wanted to make my own Fighting Game as an aspiring Indie Game Developer of a team of that same one. As for anything Self-Interesting to me, I like Sprite Based Fighters, I promote hate to the Switch for stealing all my favorite Games of this generation, & forcing me to resort to STEAM. Why can't the PS4 pro get anything meaningful anymore when it gets ported to the Switch, or doesn't even get a port also? Geez...

Ambition is another part about my ideas for . If you can put your mind to it, you can basically upgrade the Humanly Possible. In my case, it's making a 2D Fighter w/ Graphical elements not even the Switch can handle in terms of Processing power; but what kind of Custom Gaming PC Build would be needed to match PS5's Console Specs as a whole?

Ego, Superego, & Id. Just look them up; Dr. Freud would've loved it if you know my desires for all 3. XP

Even Self seems to apply to ; even if it seems that somebody awhile back stated I'm just calling out for help. Did I need any? Not even close. I'm learning; albeit VERY SLOWLY as to what I believe my best interests for my decks are. Disagree w/ my deckbuilding ideas, but they seem to fit fine.

: Of course I want to start my Center Color w/ a reference to another fighter; FREE; which was on ol' SoL Badguy's Attire. Freedom can take man forms; Freedom of Expression (Oi, STEAM Staff. you have users from Nippon/Japan that like Hentai. Why the hell would you restrict that to them also?; IT'S A WAY OF LIFE FOR THEM.), Right to Freedom of Speech, this list will go on, so, moving on...

Raw Emotion; Joy, Anger, Sorrow, Asperger's, Meek; heck, you can also say I'm mostly Kuudere; & how I'm quiet, & cold on the outside, but The Who is about to be trampled as I also have more personality traits of Anime/Manga/etc.; & they switch on the fly. So, I can be calm, & reserved one moment, & the next, I'm excited as crap. XD

My Impulsive mind is known for only one thing: Desire to fulfill what ever is needed for whatever situation. If it can't be fulfilled; I'll find another way; but how can impulsive Draw be good in cEDH? Not that I'd want it in anyway, but how would one make Apex of Power ; a HUGE Impulsive Draw Card actually woth playing in Boros? & why WotC should look back at their Dorks in their colors & wonder; Why did we never have a Dork w/: "Add " of the Same for : "Add "? Also, Gerrard, Weatherlight Hero & Eldrazi Displacer now both suck thanks to Hushbringer & Deafening Silence . Any help on cEDH Boros as of current, please?

Carelessness is, sadly, another trait. One shard of my whole set of Personalities is easily this; I'm sluggish IRL, but I'm also someone who talks so much in a reckless manner, one's mentality is inadvertently pushed to the Limit; not just Physically, but also Mentally, & Emotionally. So if I've a lot t say; just hope it's nothing you'd not know;

: Lastly, we got Green; but only believe in one aspect of Spiritism as a whole: Reincarnation. This has me wondering what my next life, or my previous is; & I hope that when WotC makes that Anime/Manga Plane of Existence; it isn't Isekai based in any way; why would anyone be Reincarnated to another MTG Timeline Completely in another Plane of Existence? Utter Nonsense even for me.

And... That's all my traits I can think of? Anyhow, I'm truly sorry for the MAMMOTH Sized Text; I just wanted to see what Legend can be relatable in my mind. But I've just one last question to the user who started (& inadvertently abandoned... D:) this from the start:

@TypicalTimmy: Does Color Identity truly matter about who I should choose for this? I'm NOT going to waste my time making a Custom Card unless I can't find a Legend; Walker, or Creature, that seems to fit most of 7/8 cards of the Spellbook of mine, or at least, a decent amount of traits I mentioned just now. I really hope anyone can think of a Legendary Creature/Planeswalker of such a sort; Even I know Homunculi are created through Alchemy, & don't always have one Eye; but In still wonder if Homunculus Tribal is also possible; but that's for another time...
