Boros enchanted Soldiers

Commander / EDH

Card Draw & Ramp Since this is always a main problem in Boros builds, I tried to find the best ways in Boros to get card advantage. Mentor of the Meek and Mesa Enchantress provide constant card draw while in play. Palace Jailer and Protector of the Crown make you the Monarch and as Boros player you hopefully will be more often the Monarch than not. Solemn Simulacrum, Skullclamp, Boros Cluestone and Commander's Sphere are classic artifact card draw. There are also a couple of lands that can provide card draw if really needed. But the main card advantage comes from: Dark-Dweller Oracle, vance's blasting cannons and Outpost Siege together with Etali, Primal Storm, Grenzo, Havoc Raiser and Stolen Strategy. The first ones dig through your own library while the others through your opponents library, the mix is important to not mill yourself out. Those cards are best played with Spirit of the Labyrinth or Alms Collector on the batllefield, since they do not count as card draw, so you will be the only person having access to several new cards per turn.

The Ramp is mostly creature and artifact based even so I would have liked to have more enchantment based ramp, fitting the strategy. Curse of Opulence is quite good in this deck since you can always attack the cursed player without worrying about your creatures as long as your commander is out. Endless Horizons makes quite a good land tax imitation and is usually not targeted by other players.

Token Production & Soldiers There are 14 token producers in the deck, half of them producing soldier tokens which lead to the soldier tribal sub-theme. One of the best producers in this deck is Tilonalli's Summoner, even so she does not produce soldiers. With Iroas out these tokens won't die in combat and Ascend is triggered easily. She alone can build an army for you. Luminarch Ascension and Sigil of the Empty Throne can win you the game and I have high hopes for the new card Divine Visitation doing that as well. It is important to note that these should only be played if you can use them fast and protect yourself, since they can draw a lot of hate.

Enchantments There are not to many pay offs in the deck for playing many enchantments (four to be correct) but I still think that enchantments more often than not, stick longer to the board and leave you with something after the next creature board wipe. This resilience is important for the deck, also to get your commander online from time to time. Sphere of Safety, Price of Glory and Karmic Justice are great in offering protection for you and your enchantments. Lightmine Field in this deck is especially mean, since your creatures can't receive damage during combat while Iroas is on the Board, which means your are the only one with a big army on the table to be able and attack.

Utilising Iroas Using Iroas second ability to protect your creatures while simultaneously burning everybody else out is a fun way to clear the board. Fault Line, Magmaquake, Starstorm and especially Pyrohemia work on instant speed and can be played during combat. If those effects deal damage to player, don't forget that Darien, King of Kjeldor is also triggering and leaving you with an even bigger army. The new Tajic, Legion's Edge can give you that protection also during other people's turns, also he himself will die in the process.

Win Cons The main game plan is of course to create a big amount of tokens and constantly attack with them. Due to the benefit of not dying in combat and having menace, they get more damage through than usual. Cathars' Crusade is absolutely insane if you have a lot of token triggers, True Conviction makes the clock tick way faster for your opponent and Repercussion makes sure that your damage gets through no matter what. There is only one win "combo" in the deck even so I did not plan for it. If you activate Heartless Hidetsugu with a Protector of the Crown and a Dictate of the Twin Gods on the field, you will win instantly.

I hope you liked the deck, it's quite budget friendly at the moment and I plan to upgrade it as soon as possible. I am looking forward to new suggestions and ideas!
