Isochron Scepter is great, can make an instant occur way more times than I normally could and the instant imprinted can change depending on the playgroup.

I agree with what you said about Cabal Ritual, never really had the chance to play it in the games I played with the deck, but the graveyard does not often stay with 7 cards in it. Switched it for Sign in Blood, as you've mentioned, more draw could help and at the same time I like cards that can do more than one thing in EDH.

Vampiric Tutor is not really a budget issue, as I'm proxying the deck, but I have friends in my playgroup that don't and I try to keep it to cards they would normally have. I'm already justifying Imperial Seal because of its name and Word of Command because it's a fun card to use and it's mostly the lack of printing that justify it's high price.

I removed these cards from the deck:

Agatha's Soul Cauldron: Although fun and a cheap crime, I rarely get useful activated abilities, the +1 to toughness was it's biggest use IMO.

Cabal Ritual: As you've mentioned, the threshold wouldn't really happen often.

Languish: Yahenni's Expertise is just more fun, same CMC and the 4 to 3 difference doesn't change much of the purpose behind the card.

Ulcerate: Cheap removal, but I already have a lot and this one was the weakest IMO.

Cabal Stronghold: As you've mentioned, 17 basics is too little.

Swamp: Removed one swamp to fit an additional non-basic land. Cabal Stronghold is gone, no need to keep that many basics.

I then added these cards:

Isochron Scepter: So many cool options, just neglected it when deck-building because I've been too tainted by the Dramatic Reversal combo and I only think about it in this situation.

Sign in Blood: One more card draw, can also burn enemies and with this deck's recursion can be re-used.

Yahenni's Expertise: Just a cooler Languish.

Buried Ruin: Nice recursion on stuff I can't normally recur because it's colorless.

Deserted Temple: As you've mentioned, crime, politics, ramp with Cabal Coffers.

Sudden Spoiling: Cool tech against control and protected creatures.

I did not add Helm of Obedience, felt like the 4 CMC is a bit too high. I will try it in the deck to see if I want to change something for it.

I did not add both flash cards because I can cast stuff from the graveyard at instant speed if needed with a crime. There's also not much I'm thinking of that I would really want to get that is not an instant. I might be missing some situations though.

I had them in the old version for Cabal Coffers, but they are slow. The fact that they've been creatures has been helpful in a lot of games though, I'll have a look for something more efficient I can sac.

Maybe Shambling Ghast?

Thank you legendofa I appreciate your advice and love your suggestions. Sorry that comes so late!

My thinking with the fetch lands was to have nonswamp lands which I could give the swamp type with Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth to benefit from Cabal Coffers would I then not get to use them for colourless mana whilst also getting a load of black mana?

What other recursive creatures would you suggest?

Thanks again :D

Obviously these totally come down to budget, but here are a few.

Because you are playing Cabal Coffers you should totally be playing Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth.

Phyrexian Tower – Mana Ramp

Lake of the Dead – Mana Ramp

Since you are playing Animate Dead you should also consider Dance of the Dead and Necromancy. They do the same thing. Gives you more consistency.

Other ramp:

Cabal Ritual

Culling the Weak

Dark Ritual

Jet Medallion

Rain of Filth

enraged Hey m8 super appreciate your suggestions! I've been busy IRL but need to set aside some time soon to do some deck updates. I'll strongly consider your suggestions, the hard part is often finding the appropriate cards to cut. Takenuma sounds great on the surface, although it does impact value from Cabal Coffers and Cabal Stronghold. It could be worth testing out tho.

I was considering adding Cabal Coffers and Deserted Temple before. Not sure I will because it's slower. I will run some tests and see. I decided on Peat Bog for speed even though it comes in tapped.

Cabal Coffers + Deserted Temple + Rings + enough swamps/urborg = Infinite Black mana.

While coffers is not meant for a deck of this nature, I just wanted to bring it to your attention for future reference/deck building in case you weren't aware of it. On that note, temple can untap mishras or even lake of the dead + politics.

Thanks for commenting! Soooo, no barriers??? Okay, if that's the case, we begin with Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth and Cabal Coffers. The burst black mana production can pay for multiple 1 and B activation costs of Magar. As long as we're upgrading the land base, other considerations include the less costly Fabled Passage, Raucous Theater and Blazemire Verge, the pricier Bloodstained Mire and Prismatic Vista, and the reach-for-the-sky Ancient Tomb and Badlands. As for spells, there aren't too many pricy Magar-friendly spells that I can recommend here, which is one of the great investment advantages of piloting a Magar build. A lot of the most impactful Magar-assisted spells are bulk rares and mythic rares. However, I'm sure it wouldn't hurt the overall synergy of the deck by including Jeska's Will and Demonic Tutor. Those two cards would make Magar very, very happy. One less costly spell that I want to add is Call Forth the Tempest, but a copy has not crossed my path yet. Another consideration, although I do not recommend it, is Wheel of Fortune. I do not recommend it because I prefer to NOT put so many additional cards in the hands of my opponents, regardless of how much it may wreck in-game and in-the-moment strategies by opponents. Aside from these Magar-friendly cards, the only other cards I would offer as considerations are support cards like Bone Miser, Deflecting Swat, and Deadly Rollick. Once you complete your build, I would LOVE to see what you have! Happy brewing!!
