If I swing with creatures, with vigilance.

I have declared my attackers.

Can I then tap them to pay a convoke cost (in my case a Chord of Calling fetching up a lord in a tribal deck) and they still be classed as attacking?

Yes, this works. Once a creature is declared as an attacker, it remains an attacking creature until end of combat, or until removed from combat or battlefield, whichever comes first. Tapping or untapping it after it attacks doesn't change anything about the fact that it is attacking.
