Stoneforge Masterwork and multiple animated equipments.

Trying to figure out Stoneforge Masterwork functions when it's equipped to a Batterskull which is animated by Sydri, Galvanic Genius if I also have animated 3x Darksteel Axe.

This would mean I have 4x "Artifact - Equipment" cards animated with Sydri.

If the answer is "no, equipment isn't a creature type" then could you expound on that further? Some of my friends think that's the answer and the rest of us figure anything on the subtype line becomes an animated permanents creature type in addition to whatever else it is such as an Aura or Equipment.

Raging_Squiggle says... Accepted answer #1

Whenever a non-creature permanent is animated, unless stated/given by the effect that animated it, that card will not have any creature subtype at all.

An animated Batterskull will be an "Artifact Creature - Equipment". (Note that while it keeps the equipment subtype, it does not turn that a creature type. It stays as an artfact type (Fortifcation is another subtype for artifact; see Darksteel Garrison)).

Similarly, if you animate a Honden of Seeing Winds, it would gain the type "creature", but would otherwise gain no creature subtype. It would keep the "shrine" subtype because that is a subtype of the type "enchantment"

Sub types do not change what they correlate to. An "equipment" cannot become a creature subtype and a "goblin" cannot become an artifact subtype.

Worth noting that if an equipment is animated, it unequips itself from whatever it's attached to and cannot be re-equipped until it is no longer a creature.
