Question about ongoing investigation in multiplayer games

Asked by Zilvynrae 7 years ago

So I originally discarded Ongoing Investigation when I opened it as it says one or more creatures deals combat damage to a player. So you could only get a maximum of two clues per combat (using first strike then normal damage for the two instances). Now going through again I happened to look at the rules for the card and saw the rule regarding two headed giant games saying that if you have multiple attacking creatures you may choose to have it trigger twice due to you dealing damage to two opponents (Or something along those lines) so I'm now interested in Commander. If I have this on the field and deal combat damage to three separate players at the same time will I get three clues due to dealing combat damage to three players or only one?

Essentially, for each unique player/opponent that is dealt combat damage by one or more of your creatures, Ongoing Investigation will trigger.
