Interaction beween avatar of the resolute and champion of lambholt

specifically, do you choose which of their enter the battlefield effects to use first?

Avatar of the Resolute is cast with a Champion of Lambholt already on the battlefield with NO +1/+1 counters on it.

how does this work out? does the avatar get any tokens?

You don't get to choose the order, and Avatar of the Resolute doesn't get any counters.

Champion of Lambholt has a triggered ability (starts with "when"/"whenever"/"at") that triggers when a creature enters the battlefield under your control. Avatar of the Resolute's ability is a replacement effect (has "as"/"with"/"instead" somewhere in the text) that modifies how it enters the battlefield. This means it has to be dealt with before the Avatar actually gets to the battlefield, and at that time the Champion hasn't triggered yet.
