Does lose of life work for Dowsing Dagger Flip
Asked by MindEcho 6 years ago
If I equipped a Vicious Conquistador with a Dowsing Dagger Flip and I attacked with Vicious Conquistador and let's say that he was blocked by the 0/2 plant token that my opponent received from the etb of Dowsing Dagger Flip; will the triggered ability, resulting in the lose of 1 life of Vicious Conquistador, allow me to transform Dowsing Dagger Flip? Thank you.
The damage does not, however, have to result in loss of life. If the creature dealing combat damage has infect and thus causes poison counters to be placed on the player, it still causes the dagger to flip. If the player is at 1 life and controls Worship the dagger will still flip, because the damage is not prevented but rather the loss of life is prevented.

Dowsing Dagger Flip explicitly states "combat damage". Damage caused by abilities is called noncombat damage. In addition, loss of life caused by abilities (such as Vicious Conquistador) is not damage
