Please explain your swap of inspiring statuary to defense grid. Would love to hear your thought process.

Profet93 Hey man, thank you for your continuous interest for this deck. Your insights have been very helpful for me to realize what should the deck focus on doing.

To be honest, I'm still conflicted in replacing Inspiring Statuary with Defense Grid because it's been a love-hate relationship. What I consider a good opening hand usually contains 2 lands, 4 artifacts and 1 other spell. So, I'd like to set up my mana base by ramping mana rocks into mana rocks. But Improvise for non-artifact spells isn't good for that strategy. It's like a late game mana rock with heavy reliance to a perfect draw sequence.

And with Lightning Greaves and Swiftfoot Boots gone, I've felt the need to keep a good amount of 2-drops that I can feed to Kozilek. Not to mention, it's another layer of security if I'm about to pull off a potential infinite combo.

Ah, that makes a lot of sense, very solid reasoning! Thank you for taking the time to explain it. I know you're budget, but perhaps a card to potentially consider for future acquisition would be Cavern of Souls? I know you generally want ulamog to die but it's nice to have the option to keep him around, can never be too careful against the blue player.

Speaking of lands and Ulamog dying, High Market and Miren, the Moaning Well might do you some good, particularly if theft is an issue. The latter has helped me against burn.

Profet93 I know I said my initial plans is to keep this deck on a certain budget but I haven't been following that since then. The only restriction I have now is the mana positive rocks that are banned from the tier that I'm playing this on. So, yeah Cavern of Souls is the definitely a land I need to include.

I don't know about High Market but Miren, the Moaning Well sure is a handy one-- I'll add it to my buylist. Also, I'm considering Arena. What do you think about it?

I wouldn't add arena simply because it doesn't produce mana and is a high investment just for a removal spell contingent upon a strong creature that doesn't get removed in response to the activation. Perhaps I'm too cautious
