If you have 0 cards in hand and cast a Sage of Ancient Lore Flip with something like a Howlpack Resurgence on the battlefield, does the Sage die before it gets the +1/+1 or no?

It lives (cue Frankenstein scene). The Resurgence is a static effect, so the game looks at it all the time/immediately. Therefore, when the Sage enters the battlefield, it is a 1/1 (that is about to become a 2/2 thanks to its first triggered ability).
