prowess trigger + state based effect + stack
Asked by Proomo 9 years ago
Hey guys, I was playing a game and the following situation happend:
player A has a Monastery Swiftspear
player A attacks with the Monastery Swiftspear
player B doesn't block
player A plays Boros Charm choosing to do 4 damage to player B
player B reacts to the prowess trigger and cast Searing Blood targeting the Monastery Swiftspear
what happens next? could somebody explain it for me?
my guess is that the monastery swiftspear dies, and player A gets 3 damage. and player B gets 4 damage from the boros charm.
Thanks

Just to note though : before Searing Blood resolves, player A is able to cast another instant spell, and save the Monastery Swiftspear (as the second activation of prowess would resolve before the Searing Blood) allowing it to do combat damage (3 points, in this case)

You got it right.
yes, you can respond to the prowess trigger and kill the creature, resulting in the creature dealing 0 damage (it will be dead by the time the combat damage step comes) and A being dealt 3. Boros charm is unaffected by this interaction.
