Phyresis Infect Attachment

Asked by Unifiss 1 year ago

When Phyresis is attached to Drakuseth, Maw of Flames, does the 4 damage it does to any target(opponent) apply as poison counters?

I imagine so.... in the same way if something has or is given Deathtouch if it pings for any damage it will destroy those creatures.

In the future, please use the Rules Q&A section when you have questions about rules, cards, or card interactions. That section has some added functionality, including the ability to “mark as answer” a post to indicate your question is resolved. I have gone ahead and moved your thread for you.

To answer your question, yes, the damage dealt by Drakuseth’s triggered ability will apply poison counters to opponents (and -1/-1 counters to creatures). Infect applies to all damage, not just combat damage, so any time a card says the creature with infect is the one causing damage, that damage will be in poison counters or -1/-1 counters.

In the future, please remember to hit the green "Mark as Answer" button to indicate your question has been resolved. Since this has been answered for several days with no further follow-up, I have gone ahead and marked an answer on your behalf.

Though I generally defer to someone else’s answer over my own, I went with my own answer as, though the other post was correct, the answer was caged with an “I imagine so”, indicating a degree of uncertainty that might confuse future viewers of the thread.
