Is the +1 ability of planeswalkers triggered with proliferate?

For instance: Say you have a Jace, Architect of Thought on the battlefield and you cast Tezzeret's Gambit choosing jace as a permanent to proliferate so another loylty counter is placed on him.Does that trigger his ability giving enemy attacking creatures -1/0 until end of turn?

Gidgetimer says... Accepted answer #1

Loyalty abilities are activated abilities, not triggered abilities. You pay the cost by putting the counters on or removing them and then you get the text of the ability. You do not get the ability if you place or remove counters for some other reason.
