Does “damage can’t be prevented” get around Glacial Chasm

Asked by Wentwardo 10 months ago

If I have a card that says Damage cannot be prevented and my opponent has Glacial Chasm out on the field does my damage go through to them?

The updated wording on Glacial Chasm uses the wording "Prevent all damage that would be dealt to you." If you have a card that says "Damage can’t be prevented" like Everlasting Torment, damage will still be applied, not prevented. The general rule here is that "can't" takes precedence--effects that say you can't do something override effects that say you can or have to do something.
