Honestly, you can cut it, but in my experience there are a lot of people running Birds, Elves, and Bobs ( Dark Confidant ) as you push up towards the higher power levels. Hell, Bloom Tender has become a quite popular win condition as of late. Dual shot hits all of them. If your meta isn't closing in on cEDH or high powered, I would consider something like Fall of the Hammer or another protection spell.

Finally, if you cast it twice in one turn (by casting it during a main phase then an end step its an instant speed Forked Bolt with buyback 1. You can certainly kill Najeelas that way.

We’re not really concerned about life totals. We’re generally trying to win in one turn. I’d rather spend three mana (which is twice the cost of the avg card in this deck) on card draw. Dark_Paladin

yeewary I think you just run both. You can put bolt on Isochron Scepter as a win condition with Paradox Engine which is sort of useful. It also can kill planeswalkers sometimes. But Reckless Rage seems seeet.

I think you should run less lands and more lands that enter untapped.

The reason to not play a better paradox engine deck is because there hasn't been a competitive Boros deck in the history of commander. Some people want to be in the fringe.

Matthew_the_greatest I have a list where that’s the goal of the deck basically.

Feather, Honorary Storm Crow

Part of the reason sorcery speed is so bad is because we get our spells back in the end step, so we will often cast them in the end step again to make Storm count higher.

Thank you for the advice and the compliments!

My only issue I have with grapeshot is that it’s 2 mana and a sorcery. And it requires red mana. I have a feeling that it won’t be as useful as you’d think. I have considered Scattershot though. That way I can use my opponents spells and my own spells to wipe the board. 3 mana at instant speed is probably easier than 2 at sorcery, but I still determined that was not good enough for this deck.

List seems sweet. Maybe run Hour of Promise

  1. I am running Aurelia’s Fury and Dualshot. Which ones would you suggest that can be played at instant speed?

  2. I have gamble, enlightened tutor, steelshapers gift and sunforger. What would you suggest I add? Additionally, the number of cantrips helps with this issue.

  3. Off color fetches get duals, so I’m going to run them.

  4. I was running Balduvian Rage but you can only cast it during your own combat step (assuming you want to target your own creature) and the target has to be attacking. That is far too slow and not nearly effective. My cantrips need to be able to be cast during my opponent’s turns and at least target my creature the turn it comes out.

I don’t plan on winning with combat damage either, so that’s why I value the x spells that target so much lower. This deck is trying to take advantage of Feather’s ability to storm off using cantrips, it’s not trying to be the best feather deck or best cEDH deck, it’s just trying to be the best deck at abusing Feather’s abilities in a storm shell.

The whole deck is filled with almost 20 mana rocks. Mana rocks are not the issue.

Sol Ring , Paradox Engine , Isochron Scepter (imprinted is a Defiant Strike )

  1. You tap sol ring for two mana, you activate scepter. Spell goes on the stack.

  2. You've cast a spell, so untap sol ring and isochron scepter.

  3. Defiant Strike resolves, you draw a card.

April 12, 2019 4:12 p.m. Edited.

IMMG54 Paradox Engine is so you can untap your artifacts so you can cast your cantrips during your opponent's turns. It also makes it so you can activate sun forger multiple times in a turn or even during your opponent's turn without mana concerns. Paradox Engine also goes infinite with your Isochron scepter, which is really useful.

Aetherflux Reservoir can kill people after you've cast about 9 spells in one turn. If you've cast 4 cantrips in one turn, then cast them in your end step, you would have enough live to kill the next player in their upkeep and then do it again during the next players upkeep. It really isn't that crazy.

Control_Train I am currently building my own cEDH list. My list is trying to take advantage of Feathers unique abilities, while another list tries to take a more typical cEDH approach that will definitely be more successful in the short term.

April 11, 2019 6:08 p.m.

I don't think this deck wants to run any 2 mana cantrips. Seems kind of bad.

April 11, 2019 2:14 p.m.

Hey, I also have a list focused on doing fun things with cantrips. Checkout my list!

April 11, 2019 12:29 p.m.

Your land count is reaaaaaaally high. You might want to cut some land for rocks or cantrip spells.

The magnetic theft is so your sunforger activations only cost 3 mana and can be done at instant speed.

April 11, 2019 9:54 a.m.

We still have the out with Twincast and Dualcaster Mage. Additionally, we could still win through storming out with Aetherflux on the field. And finally, I’ve never seen a slaughtergames cast in my whole time playing EDH.

I have seen Praetor’s Grasp though, and I can assure you if someone is going to cast Praetor’s Grasp, they aren’t choosing the Boros deck lol

You should try running more 2 mana mana rocks.
