Oh and the lifegain should get you into the later game unless you're facing more competitive decks that nuke the table by t6

I too have been looking for alternative wincons for Doran but seems to be the aggro route for any big butt strategy. Unforetunately, it starts turning him into more good stuff if you go down that route.
Seems like one could implement more lifegain and win via Felidar Sovereign/ Test of Endurance or Exquisite Blood + Sanguine Bond . Divinity of Pride and co. could do some real work. Ive also seen Doran extort but I just don't think Doran is the best general for that. Karlov would be much better at that sort of deck.

Hey man, didn't know how to reply back to your comment on my Doran deck but I really appreciated the suggestions and have actually put in some of those to make the deck a lil better. I was actually already considering those infect creatures as well as a card, Phyresis which is great.
Deck is built IRL and has been super enjoyable. Actually super fast paced and wrecks early game for the most part but lacks any form of grind game unless I get Phyrexian Reclamation to give me recursion. Any tips on how to survive those long games a little better? It just ends up feeling like the big beaters aren't enough sometimes if they get any kind of wipes.

I have a Doran deck myself that I recently made. If you're looking to go tribal treefolk, you've got some really good cards you can add to it as well as the deck has its own land, Murmuring Bosk:
Indomitable Ancients 2/10 beatstick
Timber Protector give Doran and the trees indestructible
Treefolk Harbinger search out the treefolks you need or murmuring bosk which is a land thats all 3 colors.
Sapling of Colfenor gives you cards to hand and life points plus its indestructible
Woodfall Primus just fun in general to drop although it is high cost but has persist
