How I wish I could fall asleep
But my mind is atop the combo heap
Looking for all new ways to abuse
Those cards I swore I'd never use
We combo players swear to reject
The decks that require no intellect
Unimaginative zoo, self playing burn
We choose our loop of infinite turns
You smash face, whilst we combo out
You just don't the superiority of Rout
Or why we don't use goyf or wallet slayer
You wouldn't understand you're not a
Johnny
;)
Combo player.

It's time to d-d-d-d-d-d... 'dude, terminated, really?' (does not count as a Yu-gi-oh joke as I have an online stutter and holding that against me would not only set me back weeks in therapy but it would be majorly uncool and biased).

Did I lose on the lack of colour balance?

Just to make the point Evan Erwin then designed and built a deck to take to Worlds called Magic Christmas Land. The original term was used when someone pointed out to him that you could use Lotus Cobra to get a third turn Ultimatum and his response came 'yeah in a magical f-cking christmas land'. When he built the deck for worlds he was eating humble pie.

Just curious but since the 2nd place deck and my Grixis Hurt Challenge Edition were roughly the same (in fact hers was based of mine) how did mine fail so abyssmally? Also my Bant Fog I have seen come first at full blown standard tournaments and I am curious as to how it failed as well?

Lim-Dul with man lands... Think about it.
TAMA on Lim-Dul EDH 15 minutes ago
I think that was sarcasm. Killing of the birds would be a waste of time if they had some way to stop a swarm but if you need a big beat stick it has excellent synergy.

But one dude and one ardent plea is almost guaranteed to mean two dudes. If you already have four land it helps you cycle past the extra that you won't need.

@ Sem48 Yes to the Hells yes will I throw in Kozilek. The combination of cards in this deck means I don't need to side against Jund I seriously win before and after side no trouble.
@ SirNips Quicksand is good but it doesn't stop Valakut.

You are forgiven because you have demonstrated sufficient knowledge of scrubs quotes (and I see white and think low cost to effectiveness ratio, which is the over-genre of white weenie).
I would just stall for longer throw in more removal or counter.

Haha, no problem. You're right though. I was out all day. It took me over half an hour to read all of the comments that were left today...

Iona still hoses colors when she's cheated in; her ability triggers when she enters the battlefield by any means. She doesn't have to be cast. Makes Summoning Trap a little better. But only a little.

as for the challenge for us, I will issue it in about a week or two. I have stopped building decks because I have to defend my thesis in 1.5 weeks and still have my presentation to prepare along with last minute rewrites. After that I have some ideas.

I certainly respect you point. I did mulligan quite a bit to get the hands that people intended. If lock got a scepter and silence in the first hand it tended to be game over, if mortal cycle mulliganed to a fluctuator, it won by upkeep turn 3 almost every time. Though round robin would have been best, each deck played against several other before kicking out. And trust me there were decks like your that I was hoping did better because you are a talented deck builder and your coalition deck had full point in other categories.

I know that there were some issues with the comp but I think that the other way that it can be done by judging what decks can do without playing them has disadvantages as well.
Your decks all did very well in other catagories, but they had trouble performing. trust me I am not the best player in the world, but I can play in most situations fairly well. I do hope that this exchange of ours does not tarnish our tapped out relationship.
I am as all players still learning and gleaned quite a bit from discussions on tapped out.

have to admit that part of your critisism is true. I took on more than I could handle at the time. That said, all players involved looed through the decks very carefully and got the point of the cards and structure of the decks. Bad draws are one thing, but 3 or four bad draws in a row after mulligans, I start to blame the deck. As for matchups, I did not consider it at all, and am not apologetic for that. No tournament decides to move things around because of bad matchups. I think that the way I tested them was fair.
The rulings part I agree, I am primarily a casual player and rules were very different in my hayday.
While I accept the criticism, each deck was put through a lot of matchups and I stand by those being the top decks.

You have my respect for doing your homework, and some of your decks are quite solid. your friend however another story. But please keep up the solid work with this site and your research it is valuable to all of us.
