Hi,
Can I please have your opinions on my Life Steal (budget) and Life Steal decks?

The Budget version (1st link) is almost finished so I think I'll get that out of the way first. But the other one hasn't progressed as far yet so I might have to give it more attention later.

If you have time could swing by and check my deck out , any +1 or suggestions would be appreciated. It's a mill deck I am trying to make very competitive for FNM. Feed Me Your Deck Seymour

This is an interesting insight and the justification behind the change to sliver physionomy, tell me what you make of it

July 7, 2013 11:08 a.m.

awkwardraisin says... #6

I just love the fact the lowly slivers only identify a member of the hive by body shape and movement, and change their body shape as a result of that, it seems much more childlike than it being solely due to a psychic connection between organisms (monkey see monkey do)

I didn't think much about it being equipment heavy, the forge seemed out of place at first, but artificers hex is a big clue indeed. Loads of enchantments in the core set too, so that may be a big indicator also.

Evening good sir! I haven't heard much from you recently, how have you been?

August 24, 2013 12:33 p.m.

awkwardraisin says... #8

Not bad down here in chavdom, can't wait to return to the Midlands. How'd that advertising(?) job go last time I saw you?

Anything new in the works? I'm pretty much out of ideas right now, other than a budget commander deck that is so cheap I really should build it.

Also if you wouldn't mind, could you take a look at my new commander deck that I am going to build come November? Existence is a Whim

Apologies for the late response, my internet crashed and slowed to a crawl last night

I have found the one card that will make me build a deck without red or black, Hanna, Ship's Navigator This looks like it should be an awesome EDH general!

September 1, 2013 2:36 p.m.

awkwardraisin says... #11

Actually ignore my idiocy, I misread Hanna, Ship's Navigator , I thought it read put into play not return to hand. This makes me very sad as I wanted to play Artifact/Enhantment dredge using Fact or Fiction and similar cards :( I am now depressed.

A 5 colour Weatherlight deck would be really cool, I lack the ingennuity however.

awkwardraisin says... #12

Ayyye, thanks for the suggestions, but I had a grand plan! The idea would be to throw protective artifacts and enchantments into the graveyard with Fact or Fiction effects and Careful Study so that I can pillowfort and begin assembling some stupid combo like Hinder and Tunnel Vision , or infinite mana with a Blue Sun's Zenith . The idea was to create a deck that stalls then finds its infinite combo, kind of like a super villain monologging(? spelling), so yeah cruel as all hell :D. It was more the idea of graveyard abuse in U/W that really drew me

September 1, 2013 3:48 p.m.

awkwardraisin says... #13

U/W is excellent at defending itself, charging up a superweapon (which is what I personally imagine these decks do!) is really easy in these colours, I just wanted an interesting way too do it. Zur is a very strong EDH general, but he is supposedly reviled among seasoned EDH players because he lends himself waay too easily to degenerate combos. Bruna is a Voltron general, which quite frankly bores me :(

I'm considering Basandra, Battle Seraph alongside cards like Patron of the Akki and Nobilis of War . Thoughts? It's going to be very Red, but with some swarm power.

September 1, 2013 4:08 p.m.

awkwardraisin says... #14

Brion is really cool, but he is a real combo guy, for example he throws Malignus at an opponent and that is game right there from commander damage.

Basandra lets me dictate combat, which should be pretty awesome, especially combined with Boros Battleshaper and Odric, Master Tactician I can dig mass Battalion for one massive swing at an opponent.

My main issue is card draw, R/W sucks at it, any ideas?

September 1, 2013 4:26 p.m.

awkwardraisin says... #15

Stuff like Oblation is great, Knollspine is too conditional in this deck for me, I need the card draw if I'm struggling to deal damage really.

Reforge the Soul is still awesome and so is Staff of Nin

awkwardraisin says... #16

haha if Necrotic Ooze copied triggered abilities we'd have so much trouble on our hands rules wise!!! I have an Ulamog's Crusher in my graveyard, sac 2 permanents courtesy of my world-consuming Ooze!

February 18, 2014 10:11 a.m.

awkwardraisin says... #25

It's just mana fixing isn't it? or am I missing something?

It's certainly more budget than Prismatic Omen but its on a 1/1 creature

February 22, 2014 8:53 p.m.

I saw your post in modern. Care to let me in on that deck running dessy and scryb ranger? Sounds fun.

Because the Nu-Drazi all have Devoid, it means they have no colour. Vela gives creatures intimidate, meaning they can only be blocked by creatures of the same colour or by artifact creatures. Because the Nu-Drazi are colourless, they can only be blocked by artifact creatures when Vela is on the battlefield giving them intimidate -- So unless they have an artifact creature, none of these creatures are being blocked.

Panzerforge

The only things I'd say you might want to get in are Inkfathom Witch and Training Grounds -- More the latter than the former if you want to keep it thematic, since it'll trivialise your effect costs for the nu-drazi. If you find room though, I'd say go for both!

+1 though from me (though I did it last night) -- Love it!
