I have no strong feelings one way or the other

I'd like to see Tamiyo's Nezumi Orphan Child as a future Planeswalker. He's curious enough, and a rat planeswalker would be interesting.

No Angelic Overseer for Odric shenanigans? Also might want to consider Concerted Effort -- It doesn't cover as many keywords as Odric, but it's harder to get rid of and spreads any protection abilities.

Otherwise, since you have Hydra Omnivore and Herald of the Host, going wide might be a neat idea. Grenzo's Ruffians are a smaller Omnivore with Melee, meaning it can get pretty big my itself. The other myriad creatures in Naya colours are a good idea in such a case, along with Nacatl War-Pride. Adriana, Captain of the Guard is a nice idea if you go down that route, as it'll make all your creatures bigger when you swing in and they create tokens.

Harsh Mentor and Soul-Scar Mage -- Anti-Control, maybe? Unless they're somewhere else.

Archer is really undersupported -- So much that you couldn't do much with it. They do have Greatbow Doyen which is a great lord.

Assassin isn't much better, but has more crossover with Elves.

Wizards really want to forget that Samurai are a thing...

If they did Job-Based Tribal, I think we could realistically get Wizards, Clerics (speaking as someone with a Cleric tribal deck, they're really fun), Rogues, and Soldiers. I'd love Knights or Warriors, they need multicoloured commanders.

Knights Warriors or maybe Abzan

Man, now all I want is a conspiracy style set with a guild based mechanic ala D&D -- Warrior guild, thieves guild, assassins, knights, etc.

Spirits, for sure. Cats, Hydra, Elementals (As much as I love HoN, five colours are awkward for elementals), and as much as I don't want to see it, Humans -- A human commander that supports humans.

Rebels, Beasts and Centaurs are supremely outside bets.

Job based tribal could be good -- Rogues, Shaman, Archer, Druid. Maybe a two/three colour knight commander.

pskinn01 -- There were some leaks of "Speculative Packaging" for both Amonkhet/Hour of Devastation and a set called Atlazan and a second set for ATZ called Conquest of Power. Ixalan has that same meso/aztec/mayan feel, that's where people are coming from about it.

Since the new commander product was announced today as well to be Tribal based, I think the next set will have a heavy tribal focus -- That plays into those mesoamerican civilisations really well, and I'd love it if we got human figures who are a different creature type based upon a tribe:

Cats (Jaguars)

Viashino (Dragons)

Snakes

Hound?

Merfolk? (Fish)

Like a creature would be "Snake Warrior" but be a human with a snake skin/look like hybrids or mutations. Easily could have the real creatures as well.

Looking also at the basis of the plane, sacrificial mechanics could also be in.

Bigger question is, if the leaked packs are accurate, will Vraska be a big player on Ixalan?

April 18, 2017 2:30 p.m.

This sudden announcement along with the next set announcement can't be a coincidence -- I think we're going to see tribal back in a big way. This commander release could be to get players who weren't around for Lorwyn block used to the mechanics.

Either way, great! I love tribal! I can't help but think we're going to see ANOTHER elf deck (There are more than enough elves), hopefully it's G/B or G/W with a Rhys reprint of whichever colour in there.

Elves, Merfolk, Goblins, Zombies -- That's my bet, safe as it might be. Please no humans.

Trespasser and Stronghold Rats leave you at something of a disadvantage, while Zealot doesn't really do a hell of a lot in comparison to other creatures in the deck -- Especially compared to Soltari Guerrillas which does HEAPS of damage under the right circumstances.

I'd say those three could be cuttable for mana dorks/fixing. I'd go for Birds of Paradise, Sylvan Caryatid (for the Hexproof) and perhaps Chromatic Lantern.

Other possible recommendations:

Whip of Erebos -- Always nice to have Lifelink (Forever, unlike Skirmisher, which in itself is great, don't get me wrong)

Phyrexian Reclamation -- A cheaper way of getting creatures back from the grave (Debtors' Knell is great, but you might be waiting a while for it...)

Archangel of Thune -- An expensive card, but potentially huge pump for your little shadows!

Harvest Season (Not yet in the database) -- Turns a full swing of attackers into massive ramp.

I would have suggested Concerted Effort but you'd have to redesign the deck slightly to get it in with a few keyword creatures, and I think that'd kinda ruin the deck.

Love Shadow -- I try and get Dauthi Embrace into decks where I need the evasion whenever I can. Keep working at it and you've got something nasty here!

I'd recommend Angelic Overseer and Concerted Effort -- Odric is great with Samut, and Concerted Effort is basically Odric with a few different keywords. Plus, with either Odric or Concert, Overseer gives everything Indestructible and Hexproof as long as you have a human, which with Samut is easy enough.

April 14, 2017 8:04 a.m.

Damn Samut, you nasty, gurl.

Part of me just wants to run tap dorks and mana dorks, but that's insane. If only she wasn't aggro focussed, I'm dreaming of something like Tamanoa -- I know I could build Tama anyway, but not being a true legendary triggers me fierce.

Naya Humans? Creature-based Stax?
