Casting casual spells competitively!...or is it competitive spells casually?

Saw your comment on that Sorin Oathbreaker deck. If you are interested, I have been making a ton of them :) Some far more competitive than others, but I'm having a lot of fun.

Also, what are your thoughts on Primalcrux ? I'm not sure what you would cut for it, but I know it could do some serious work in here.

Vigor seems like a very good replacement! It adds a good amount of devotion too.

Haha, for some reason I thought Kozilek, Butcher of Truth had indestructible, but I guess I mixed it up with Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre in that aspect.

Regarding the "I only get the draw trigger if he is cast from my hand" part: don't you also have to cast Blightsteel Colossus ? He is not green, so he cannot be cheated into play any more than Kozilek (unless I missed a card in the deck that does this besides your signature spell - which only does green creatures). This point is rather moot however, as I agree that having indestructible is probably the better option since Green Sun's Zenith can just grab anything you might need, so the draw from Kozilek is not as relevant.

Hey, saw your comment on my page so I thought I'd check some of your Oathbreaker decks out. This deck reminds me of a deck I had back during original Zendikar. This was before I got into commander, so all I played was casual 60 card decks. The deck was based around Gigantomancer of all things because my friend said it was a terrible card, so I set to prove him wrong. The idea of it was to use Gigantomancer 's ability to boost the power of my Viridian Joiner s and utilize untap shenanigans as well as other mana dorks to establish crazy mana bases. I would win by casting Gelatinous Genesis or maxing tower counters on Helix Pinnacle . Sure it was complete jank, but man those were the days!

Anyway! In regards to this deck, I really like it! One thing I would ask is if Blightsteel Colossus would be better substituted by Kozilek, Butcher of Truth ? I'm aware of how awesome the colossus is, but Kozilek acts as both removal & draw for your deck. Both inevitably win games so maybe it doesn't matter, but just an idea.

Either way, thanks for the trip down memory lane! +1 from me on the deck! Love it!

This is awesome!

While having never tried oathbreaker, I have been brewing some ideas. I've also enjoyed looking at the numerous oathbreaker decks popping up, and this is no exception! In fact, it's one of my favorites so far. +1 from me, keep it up!

I do believe each Oathbreaker gets his/her own signature spell.

From the MTG Wiki -
906.4b When using the Partner mechanic, each Oathbreaker will have its own Signature Spell. Each Signature Spell is limited to its Oathbreaker’s color identity.

So depending on what red spell you choose to be Rowan's signature spell, some fun stuff could be had here.

Hmm, the only suggestion I can think of at this moment is maybe adding Unstable Obelisk . It's ramp with a removal ability tied on that will be copied if you ever get Rowan Kenrith 's emblem turned on.

I actually have a commander deck utilizing both Kenrith's, but I focus more on Rowan than Will. You seem to have a good balance here between the two. Anyway, +1 from me. Keep it up!
