Hi! Welcome! I live on Earth, like a normal person-human. I really love playing MTG, and without it, would probably go insane. I also like skateboarding, art, and nice people. I feel like I'm an Extrovert, but I always get "Introvert" on the BuzzFeed quizes...

Ashiok is bomb, and if we had profile pictures he'd definitely be mine. I absolutely love , followed by , , , and . I'm an aggro player at heart, but I can pilot a control deck like no one's business. I don't really like playing against or building combo, it just doesn't feel right to me. Also, I have a hard time building in modern...

Check out my decks, please! I work really hard on some of them, and, plus, I'll check yours out, too! If you're feeling especially generous, take a look at the decks of my good friends in my MTG playgroup; here are the links to their profiles:

Good luck to all in deckbuilding! And may all of your rares not be junk rares!

Ok, I guess so...

Also, I've decided that I'll just message you over Discord for the custom cards/decklords thing, if that's cool with you. It's pretty easy for me.

Scallywallwest While I agree that Lollai is powerful, I don't think it deserves a mythic slot, because its ability is restricted to "until Lollai leaves the battlefield", but if it becomes a problem in playtesting I'll upgrade it.

VampDemigod Thanks! I think I've met my positivity quota for the day, so no more. Only be rude to me now.

DeinoStinkus Not trying to butt in here, I had been on the page trying to find a deck and the set sounded cool, so I looked. It definitely is. Just figured you couldn’t have too much positivity.

Very cool, people!

  1. As the background card, I feel like Neutralize would be a good fit.

  2. I really like the way the site looks and feels already. I think one of my favorite features is the Help!/First Cycle options on the decklists page, as I really like to go there just to check out what people are putting out there and helping them if they haven't gotten any feedback on a deck yet.

  3. A deck I'm quite proud of is my Humans Have Come! (For Better or Worse) Standard deck. It was my first "big" deck, and it allowed me to meet a lot of new people on the website. Also, I believe it was the first "actually good" deck I had built. Still upgrading it today.

  4. I joined the site because I had seen a lot suggestions from Google that would link to decks here. I always found the community to be nice, and it looked really inviting. So, one day after not much thought, I just made an account. I will never regret that choice.

  5. Social media, huh? I don't really use it. Other than this, I can be found on Discord as Scallywallwest#9336, and I have a Youtube account that I won't share.

I don't know if that's too long or not, but feel free to alter it.

Your primer is very well written. Applause to you for taking the time to put your thoughts on paper (screen?). And honestly, I love the concept of this deck and the way it works, it's just so ingenious. I really do hope you get good results with the deck, if not just the satisfaction of seeing in the wild and playing the way it's supposed to!

VampDemigod: I meant Teferi, Master of Time. (Core 2021)

September 22, 2020 9:50 p.m.

Hoo boy...Have you seen the landfall decks going around?? They are absolutely insane in the way they ramp. In my opinion, any standard deck that's in blue should run Conundrum.

September 22, 2020 9:48 p.m.

If I'm being honest with myself, I'm only running Teferi and Borrower because I happen to own a copy of each...but I agree that it's time to part with them (in this build).

Is Sultai Control a thing?? I was told it was Sultai Midrange...I suppose they're not super different. I actually did go up against a Sultai Midrange/Control deck, and I beat them fairly quickly. They didn't have the best draw, though, so luck may have had something to do with that match.

I don't think I'll mainboard Cinderclasm, probably switch it in in the sideboard for Redcap Melee. I do want to run Narset, because I've found many a game where I sit with an Ultimatum in my hand that I can't/don't want to cast, and Narset's negative ability is pretty decent. She also comes in handy against aggro and beatdown. I want to keep her and Whirlwind in for now, but I'll kick them out with no hesitation if I find that they don't do enough in playtesting. (Also, I hope you the best of luck in your deckbuild)ing!

September 22, 2020 7:17 p.m.

Seeing as there is a lot of mill here, it's rogues--duh, I think a Vantress Gargoyle might work here. While it doesn't have the rogue type, it does put up a big body. Also, would Essence Scatter work for you? The meta is currently very creature-heavy, so I feel like this might be a good add-in. Otherwise, very cool deck! I love Dimir Rogues, and I'm so happy it's finally viable!

September 22, 2020 7:05 p.m.

Well, thank you! I'm currently running 1x Realm-Cloaked Giant, so I'll see how 3x Shatters goes over. Definitely agree with more Dream Trawlers/Ultimatums, I find that I don't always draw them often enough. (Brazen is one of my pet cards, I'll have to admit...I'll have to really think on dropping them...) Upping Essence scatter sounds pretty decent. Also, I usually like to cast a Whirlwind into a Shatter/Omen of the Sea, it lets me draw a lot. And when games go longer, I've found it to draw me so many cards. Very true statement about the meta.

I'll edit the deck when I can, then hopefully get some playtesting in later today.

September 22, 2020 11:34 a.m.

I see...other then them, there will be only forests?? Because if so, at least add in some ramp parts.

September 22, 2020 11:26 a.m.

Nice! This is actually a really interesting deck... I may have to try it out sometime. Also, what in the world would you consider bad about Esper Control or Mono-Black Aggro?? (Besides the price!)

September 22, 2020 11:25 a.m.

Hello, defamagraphy1! Thank you so much for taking the time to comment! First off, I'd like to say that I've been a bit conflicted over Sprite Dragon lately...I'll try upping the count to 3 and see how that plays out in testing. I'm currently running 3x Omen of the Sea, so I'll up that count to 4x. I'm not sure about running Infuriate, as I fear it may shift the focus of the deck a bit, where I'd like it to remain controlesque. I'll definitely add in that Spikefield Hazard, as that looks pretty good--flexible and useful. Roil Eruption will replace 2x of the Scorching Dragonfires, most likely...

Again, thanks for commenting! I'll definitely update the deck to accommodate some of these cards. The deck is already doing really well in playtesting, and hopefully these cards will add a bit more to the deck!

September 21, 2020 10:41 p.m.

Maybe Doomsday would work in the build? It does help you set up a game winning combo. (I know it's kind of expensive...) Otherwise, I really like the deck. All K'rrik decks are really interesting to me, and I hope that your friend enjoys your build!

September 21, 2020 7:03 p.m.

I'm very scared of this deck already.

But seriously, my good sir, how are not running Basalt Monolith?? It goes infinite with Kinnan like the moment it's played!!

VampDemigod: No, that is not just a random fact. It's 2020, man (or woman or non-binary if you prefer) and you need to be recognized for your chosen gender!! :b

(I'm not trying to make fun of anything or be rude here I'm just trying to be funny and if anyone takes that seriously then that is completely fine.)

Aahh, okay, I see. I thought it was due to something else, not sure what. I will most likely end up putting in about 2 copies of Lead the Stampede, though, to keep getting gas for when we run out.

Hey, mwalkner, thanks for the suggestions! I'm not exactly sure how Young Pyromancer would interact with Risen Reef (please excuse my noobiness.) I do currently own a Brazen Borrower and will be getting a second one soon, so that may become an addition to the deck, as I do need some more interaction. I hope that your list produced good results, and again, thank you so much for your suggestions!

Ahh, thank you so much for taking the time to check out my deck!! I'm working on getting those Shocklands, so far I own a single, sad Godless Shrine, but I do know a friend who's got one or two, and I'm hoping to trade with them for those soon. Creature matchups work out pretty well, and I usually find myself in good blocking/attacking situations. I have noticed that I need more removal, and I've been looking into that lately, so I'll be updating the deck soon with more interaction. Again, thank you so much for acknowledging my request! I hope you have a good day/night/evening/whateverelse!

Hello! It feels kind of weird to be asking for help, I guess...? But I know that you leave really meaningful comments on other decks, so I do hope you could help me out. I've been thinking of getting into competitive mtg, and I hope that this can be a kind of breakthrough for me: https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/rising-elementals/

Thank you if you do choose to check it out!!

Oh my gosh YES. You don't even know how excited I am for Zendikar Rising and rogues. I really hope that rogues will have an impact, and I think this is a great example of a rogues-tribalesque deck. I know that this is mono rogues Grixis, but I feel like you should include some kind of diruption/removal. I think Adventures would be a great way to do this. (I see there are already 4 of Brazen Borrower.) Otherwise, I can't wait to see this deck in its final form. :D

Hey, epic deck! Problem, though...Gruul Spellbreaker rotates out soon... Also, I think I would up the Embercleave count to 2.
